This extreme mood change had me a little bit on edge, but I was also glad that she was acting nicer. It was so hard to tell when people were being genuine normally, but with these beings that were untold years old, they could all be masters of deception. I just had to hope that Helena getting closer now was a permanent thing and not just until I was useful to her.
"This is something that you will get in time if you can afford it, but for now, we will just use mine," Helena explained as she showed me the strange disc-shaped screen she had pulled out of her desk.
"What is it?" I asked.
"This is a Transporter. The Heavenly Realm has no end, so some of the places might be a very long way away from here. There are many other ways to get transportation, but most of them are expensive or unsafe. A Transporter will cost you about five million Mana, depending on where you get them. for now, take my hand into yours, and we will go to my training facility," Helena said as she stood up from her desk and held out a hand to me.
I hesitated for a moment before I finally reached out and took her hand into mine, not wanting to anger her again. Once I had done so, Helena smiled and spoke a few words that sounded like gibberish to me before everything around us started to fade away into white light.
Suddenly, we were standing in a large open area that looked like some kind of gymnasium. There were all sorts of machines and equipment that I didn't even know the name or functions of, but Helena released my hand and walked over to one of the machines.
"This is a simulator; it will allow you to experience different types of combat scenarios so you can learn how to react properly," Helena explained as she pressed a few buttons on the machine before turning back to me. "It's not exactly the same as real life, but it's close enough."
"So, what do I need to do?" I asked curiously as Helena motioned for me to come over next to her.
"First, we need to set up your account, so we can keep track of your progress," she said as she started typing away on a keyboard that was built into the machine. A few moments later, a screen popped up with my name on it, along with some other options that I didn't understand. "All you need is your full name, date of birth,"
"What is this for?" I asked curiously as I watched Helena fill in my information.
"For your records, so we can keep track of your training and see how you are progressing," Helena explained as she finished inputting my information before moving on to the next screen. "Now we need to set up your physical stats."
She started inputting a bunch of numbers that I didn't understand before moving on to the next screen. "This is where you will choose what weapons you want to train with, but you are just going to select unarmed for now."
She clicked a few more buttons before moving on to the next screen. "This is where you will choose what fighting style you want to learn, but we can worry about that later. For now, just select brawl."
After a few more clicks, Helena leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms over her chest as she looked at me. "All set! Are you ready to begin your training?"
I just looked at her dumbly because I had no fucking clue what was going on at this point. It was like watching her set up my character for an MMO or something.
"What?" Helena asked as she noticed the confused look on my face.
"I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing," I admitted, and Helena sighed.
"I guess I forgot that you are new to this. Basically, what you are going to do is choose a scenario from the list here," she said as she pointed to a screen on the machine that was filled with different options. "Once you have chosen your scenario, you will be transported into it, and you will need to complete the objective before moving on to the next one."
"What if I die?" I asked curiously, and Helena just shrugged her shoulders.

"You can't die in these scenarios; they are just simulations," she explained. "Now, why don't we start with something simple so you can get used to the controls."
She clicked a few buttons on the machine before turning back to me. "All set! Just step into that circle there when you're ready."
I hesitantly made my way over to the circle she had indicated, not really sure what to expect. Helena just smiled and pressed a button on the machine, and suddenly I was enveloped in bright light.
I opened my eyes to find myself in some kind of arena. Helena was standing across from me, and there were a few other people around as well, but I didn't really pay them much attention.
"Welcome to your first scenario," Helena said as she walked over to me. "In this scenario, you will be pitted against me in a friendly sparring match."
"What do I need to do?" I asked curiously, and Helena just smacked me on the shoulder.
"Just try and hit me!" she said with a grin before taking a fighting stance across from me.
This scene felt cliché as hell, but I guess it was a good place to start. I mirrored Helena's stance and started to circle her to make the first move.
Then I launched myself at Helena, but before I could even get close, she just vanished and reappeared behind me. I tried to turn and swing at her, but she was just too fast. She landed a few punches on me before finally backing off.
"What the hell?" I gasped out as I clutched my stomach where she had hit me. It didn't really hurt, but it did surprise me.
"I told you, these are simulations," Helena said with a shrug of her shoulders before taking up her fighting stance again. "Come at me again!"
I charged at her again, but she just vanished and reappeared behind me. She started hitting me with a flurry of punches, and I tried to block them as best as I could, but she was just too fast. Suddenly, she stopped attacking me and took a step back.
"What happened?" I asked breathlessly as I tried to catch my breath. This was way more tiring than it looked. "How do you keep getting around me?"
"It's called teleportation," Helena explained as she took a seat on the ground. "It's a basic skill that all Astral Beings can learn. Come sit down, and I will teach you how to do it."
I hesitantly made my way over to her and sat down, not really sure what to expect. Helena just smiled and placed her hand on my forehead, and suddenly I felt like someone had dumped a bucket of water on my head.
I gasped as I opened my eyes to find myself back in the gymnasium. Helena was standing in front of me with her hand still on my forehead, but when she noticed that I was awake, she quickly pulled it away with an embarrassed look on her face.
"Come, this is something you will have to learn from a book. Even though you are not quite an Astral Being, I think you should be able to learn this basic technique," Helena said, offering her hand to me as she pulled her Transporter from her pocket. "After this is over, you will need to get suited up and ready to go to be dropped back into the world to kill your mark."
I just stared at her for a moment before sighing and taking her hand, not really sure what else to do. Today was slowly getting better, but this bit of fun was about to end soon, and I would be going back to being a killer again.
