I had been waiting for something like this to happen. My life was comparable to the mindless action movie I was just trying to watch, and I grabbed my pistol and took the safety off as I went to the door.

"Halberd Randal, this is special agent Jim! I just want to have a talk about some things if you don't mind," a male voice called from the other side.

I put the safety back on and holstered my gun in the back of my pants before opening the door. There was a man in a black suit with dark sunglasses standing there looking at me expectantly. He looked like he meant business, but I had no idea who he was.

"Can I help you?" I asked cautiously.

"Yes, can I come in?" he asked as he took off his sunglasses. His eyes were cold, but they held a warmth that made me want to trust him for some reason.

I stepped aside and let him into my apartment before closing the door behind him. "So what can I do for you, special agent Jim?"

He chuckled as he sat down on my couch without being invited. "It's just Jim." His face turned serious as he looked at me intently. "We need to talk about your ability."

My ability? What abilities did I have?

"You seem to attract danger, right? Everywhere you go. I have been tracking you with a group of people, and we think that you could be helpful to us."

I raised an eyebrow at him. "What do you mean by helpful?"

"We want you to help us catch criminals," he said plainly. "You have a gift, and we need people with gifts like yours."

I considered his offer for a moment before shaking my head. "No thanks, I'm not interested." There was no way that I was going to put myself in danger like that on purpose. My life was dangerous enough as it was without adding more variables into the mix.

He stood up abruptly and started towards the door. "That's too bad," he said over his shoulder as he opened the door and walked out. "I hope you change your mind because we will be watching you."

The door closed, and I groaned. What did I ever do to deserve this shit?

No part of me wanted to become a crime fighter!

I marched over to my door to lock it, but my power turned off. Suddenly, the door burst open, and men in black suits came rushing into my apartment with guns drawn.

I was already at the casserole and whipped it at three of the men's heads that were in line. My gun was out, and I took down two more men before they were able to subdue me.

I was shocked with a taser, and everything went black.

I opened my eyes in a stark white room. There was a table in the middle of the room with two chairs, and that was it. The door opened, and Jim walked in with a file in his hand before sitting down across from me.

"I told you that we would be watching you," he said plainly as he placed the file on the table between us before opening it up. "Your file is very impressive."

I snorted. "You mean my rap sheet?" I had been arrested more times than I could count for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It seemed like every time something happened, I just so happened to be around when it went down, which made people suspicious of me even though I was innocent every single time!

He chuckled softly as he nodded his head slightly. "Yes, your rap sheet." He leaned back in his chair and looked at me intently for a moment before sighing deeply. "Look, Halberd, we need people like you."

"Ahh, this is how you get your people to fight crime! You ask them nicely and then blow their door down if they say no? Fairly convenient if you ask me," I snorted.

He frowned deeply as he shook his head. "No, that's not how we do things." He sighed again before pinching the bridge of his nose. "Look, you have a gift. You attract danger like no one else that I have ever seen."

"I'm not interested," I said plainly as I started to stand up from my chair.

He held up a hand to stop me. "Hear me out first," he pleaded softly.

I paused for a moment before sitting back down in my chair with a huff. "Fine, but this better be good."

"So I haven't been completely honest. I do need you, but their job is a little bit crazy. I am not from this dimension, and I know that seems strange, but I am not wearing a tinfoil hat. I am a high-level officer in the government, but I have been looking for a person like you. You have a unique ability to attract danger, but you can't control it, right?" Jim asked, and I narrowed my eyes. How did he know that?

"What does this have to do with another dimension?" I asked cautiously. I didn't want to believe him, but there was something about his story that just drew me in.

He sighed deeply as he leaned back in his chair. "The government has been experimenting with portal technology, and they accidentally opened a portal to another dimension. This is where I came from. This world isn't on the normal routes, so I really just got lucky in finding you!"

"For what?! You keep spouting words, but you aren't saying anything!" I growled, and Jim put his hands up.

"I know, but it's best that you have a good view of what is going on because I give you the shit. Do you know what a transmigrator is? or a reincarnated?" Jim asked, and I set back.

I had read light novels and manga with those concepts in them, but I had never given it much thought before. "Yeah, I've heard of them."

"Good! Well, you see, we need you to kill them. Just like you, they are notoriously hard to end, and we need someone with the Chaos Trigger to do it. Without you, most of them will never reach their epic adventures, massive harems, explicit sex-capades, or saving of the entire universe! We need you to get these people to where they have to go!" Jim declared, hitting me full force with the shit.
