I was flabbergasted. "You want me to be a fucking hitman?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yes! But with a bigger payout than you've ever seen," Jim said as he leaned forward, and I could see the dollar signs light up in his eyes.
"Oh? What the fuck am I going to spend it on?! I will be an interdimensional hitman!" I snapped, and Jim frowned.
"Well, we will set you up with a bank account, and you can use it to buy whatever you want. You just have to promise not to blow all the money on hookers and blow," he said plainly, and I narrowed my eyes at him before crossing my arms over my chest.
"Yeah? And how do I know that I can trust you?" I asked skeptically. This whole thing seemed too good to be true, but then again, so did most of the things in my life. If this was real, then it could be a chance for me to start over! But what if it wasn't real? What if this was some sort of trap?
Jim sighed as he leaned back in his chair again with a tired expression on his face. "You don't have any other choice, Halberd." He paused for a moment before continuing softly. "Look, I know that your life hasn't been easy, but this is an opportunity for you to change that."
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a stack of papers before placing them down on the table between us. "This is everything that we have on the people who need killing, along with their pictures."
"Hey! All of these people are good-looking and young! What the fuck?!" I snapped as I looked back up at Jim with an incredulous expression on my face.
He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "Well, you know how it is in manga and light novels. The transmigrator and reincarnated are always young and hot." He paused for a moment before continuing softly. "Plus, it makes your job a little bit more fun."
I snorted as I shook my head before standing up from my chair sharply. "No fucking way! This is bullshit!" I declared before turning around to walk towards the door.
I had just reached out to grab the handle when Jim's voice stopped me. "Wait! There's one more thing!" he called out, and I turned around to look at him with an exasperated expression on my face.
"What now?" I asked tiredly.
He reached into his pocket again and pulled out a small black box before setting it down on the table. "This is a Chaos Trigger. It will allow you to travel between dimensions, and it is also your payment; I will also provide you with a black card that you will get paid on. That bad boy is accepted in every dimension."
"Travel between dimensions? So I can go home whenever I want?" I asked as I walked back over to the table before picking up the small black box. It was surprisingly heavy for its size.
Jim nodded his head slightly before leaning back in his chair with a satisfied smirk on his face. "Exactly! Now all you have to do is kill people, and we will take care of the rest!"
"What about my weapon?" I asked.

"Oh, we will provide you with whatever weapons you need. You just have to focus on the killing," Jim said plainly, and I frowned deeply.
This was some high-class bullshit, but I just didn't seem to have a choice. It was not like my life could get any worse than it already was, and this was also a chance to finally be able to control my own life.
I sighed deeply as I rubbed my temples tiredly before looking back up at Jim. "Fine, I'll do it."
"Really? That's great!" Jim said as he stood up from his chair before walking over to me with a wide smile on his face.
He reached out, and shook my hand firmly before patting me on the back. "Welcome to the team Halberd! I think you are going to enjoy working for us!"
Somehow I didn't think that was the case.
"So what next?" I asked, still feeling uneasy about this. I had agreed because it was that or I agreed. There wasn't much room for choice there.
"The last bit is this fancy little contract. It will help you out with your problem," Jim said as he pulled a small stack of papers out of his jacket pocket before setting them down in front of me.
I frowned deeply as I picked up the papers before starting to read through them. It was all legal mumbo jumbo that I didn't really understand, but the gist of it seemed to be that I couldn't back out or else they would own my soul or some shit like that.
I sighed deeply as I signed the contract without even reading it thoroughly before handing it back over to Jim with a tired expression on my face. "There, now can I go?"
"Yes, you are free to go," Jim said plainly as he placed the contract back into his jacket pocket before walking towards the door. "Oh and Halberd?"
"Yeah?" I asked without looking up from where I was putting on my jacket .
"Welcome to the team," he said before walking out of the door, and I was left alone in the room.
I really should have read that paper better, but what did it matter in the end? My old life sucked, and this was a chance for a change.
Suddenly, the room filled with gas, and I was out like a light. When I next woke up I was sitting in what looked like a godly white and gold subway train. Outside was a myriad of rainbow colors streaming by, but I was not alone. Sitting in front of me was a young girl with long blonde hair wearing what looked like a typical high school outfit.
