The beast's eyes went dark, and Ace gave me a surprised look as I got more level-up messages, but this time just to 61. Still crazy, but I couldn't let him know how much I had already gained. The last thing I needed was for him to get suspicious of me.
"Where did you get that hammer?! That thing looks strong!" Ace said and then tried to pick it up, but no matter how much he tried, to the point, I thought he might shit his pants; he couldn't budge it.
"No, it is just really heavy, but it does the trick," I explained as I picked it up like it was nothing, and Ace just gave me a stupefied look. I decided that I would keep the equipping part to myself for now because the shocked look was priceless, but it snapped off as the eleven mecha cats that were left walked out to surround us.
"Jump as high as you can!" I yelled as all the cats converged on us, and I raised my hammer.
Ace jumped up, and I slammed my hammer down, activating Shockwave. The concussive force knocked the cats off their feet, but they got back up quickly.
"What did you do?" Ace demanded as he landed beside me, and I smirked under my mask.
"Upgrades," I explained and then charged at a cat as it tried to flank Ace, who was now trying to fight two of them off at once.
I slammed my hammer into its side with all my might, flipping it over before twirling and slamming the blunt edge down onto its skull hard enough that I heard metal crunching. The beast screeched in pain but then leaped at me with both front paws outstretched to try and claw me in half.
I sidestepped easily before swinging my hammer around hard enough that the wind pressure alone knocked it off its feet, sending it sliding across the ground till it hit one of the other Mecha Cats hard enough that both went tumbling end over end till they collided with two more of them who had thought about attacking us from behind while we were busy fighting these other ones head on.
None of them got back up after that, so I turned toward where Ace was just standing there watching me wide-eyed like a deer in headlights; his two opponents lay motionless on either side of him, dead or close to it anyway, judging by how still they were lying there.
"Are you done gawking?" I asked impatiently as the last seven Mecha Cats started circling us, and Ace came to put his back to mine.
"You are one crazy son of a bitch! You must have gotten really strong before your system activated! There is no way that someone at your level, even after the level boost from the first two, could have taken out two more right after!" Ace said but then yelped as one of the cats pounced at him.
I stepped forward, slamming my hammer down on its back midair before it could hit Ace, smashing it into the ground, where it lay stunned for a few moments. I quickly put two more blows in to finish it off for good before turning as another tried to flank me this time.

The beast was fast, but I was faster as I dodged under its claws before bringing my hammer up into its gut so hard that when I let go, the creature flew backward and slammed into two more of them who were trying to come at us from behind while these other three kept us busy head on.
I rolled as one cat came for me, but I ran sideways until it was between me and my hammer, and I summoned it to me. The hammer caught the side of the cat, but I stepped out of the way, and the cat and hammer went flying past me into and through a wall.
I turned to block a claw from another cat with my gunblade I summoned as Ace fought off the last two and then quickly dispatched one of them while I was still busy.
The other three cats were now attacking me all at once, but they had no chance against me. My hammer flew back to me, slamming into the side of one cat as I leaped up, flipping over it and bringing my blade down on its head before I landed in a crouch beside its body just in time to get hit by another Mecha Cat that tried pouncing at Ace from behind only for him to leap out of the way at the last second.
I went flying, tumbling end over end multiple times before crashing into something hard enough that it knocked all the air out of my lungs and made everything go black for a few moments. When I finally regained consciousness, I groaned in pain as every part of my body felt like it was on fire, especially my left arm, which was hanging limply at an odd angle that told me it was broken bad enough that it needed medical attention sooner rather than later.
"That looks like it hurts, but you still have half health! Thought you were a goner there! Sorry, didn't realize that you were behind me!" Ace chuckled as I groaned in pain, but he pulled out a full restore and handed it to my good hand. I downed the drink, and then everything started to heal.
"You need to be more careful! You could have gotten yourself killed!" I snapped at him, but Ace just shrugged it off like it was nothing.
"Eh, I am pretty tough," he said with a careless shrug as if that made everything fine and dandy. "Besides, you did good! You took out five of them by yourself!"
I just grumbled as I stood up, dusting myself off before summoning my hammer and putting it away.
"Let's just get back out and make sure the girls are fine," I grumbled as I rolled my shoulder from the arm that had been broken.
"Oh, I am sure that they are just fine!" Ace laughed, but I highly doubted that they were just fine.
