I was not happy as I followed the group. This was a pain in the ass, and I still had to find a way to kill Ace, but now I was going to have to get closer to him and watch his ass. All because of this stupid dark goddess.

"I gave out contact information to Chloe, and Grace will send her the location!" Ace called back to us in the parking lot as he got into a big jacked-up 4x4 that I was a bit jealous of. It looked like it had a bunch of cool upgrades as well.

I looked at my basic sports car and sighed, but then equipped my armor with another sigh as Ace drove off.

Chloe came over, pulled my mask up and gave me a kiss, and then opened the driver's door with a smile.

"I know that this is going to complicate things and make it harder to kill him if you get to know him, but just remember that he will thank you one day. Your job might seem like you are just a killer, but that is not the case, Halberd. You create divine astral beings like me that will not be astral beings of darkness, like Grace," Chloe explained as I walked around to the passenger side.

"That is one way to look at it, but that doesn't make it any easier right now. I find it hard to get used to the idea of killing people or thinking that it's okay, even though what you say is true. Maybe I will in time, but this is still fucked up that I have to protect him. can't I just kill Grace, and we go back to stay the fuck away from him till I am strong enough to kill him?" I asked but then put a hand up to stop Chloe from getting in. "Give me a minute; I need to make so modifications to this piece of shit."

I got in and was about to summon my Ember Queen Gunblade to open the roof like a hobo trying to open a can of tuna with a knife, but Chloe screamed at me.

"Halberd! Don't you dare cut a hole in that roof! We can just do an upgrade on the car while we drive! Stop being so rammy with things!" She snapped at me, and I smiled behind my mask as I dropped my hands, and she got in. "Wipe that smile off your face and use the console to upgrade the car! You can't kill Grace, nor can she kill you or me. We are impervious to damage from Astral Beings while in-world. You can't hurt me and vice-versa."

"What about the map? How do you know where to go?" I asked, and Chloe pointed to her eyes.

"I have the overly that can go on any digital screen, so I can see the map when I look at the console, even if you are doing something. You can do the same thing," Chloe explained, and I know that, but I didn't realize I could message or get things from other people, but I guess it made sense. "

"What about if the world has tech like this one?" I asked as Chloe started the car.

"You wouldn't have a system in that world. You would get magic, ability, or power. The chances of you getting something twice is almost next to impossible because there are just so many different worlds, and many have many different rules and laws than this one," Chloe explained as we pulled out of the parking lot.

I nodded and concentrated on the console, reaching forward and tapping on the menu button on the touch screen.

I looked at the different options and then started upgrading the car while Chloe drove. It was pretty simple, really, but I had to admit that I was a bit impressed with the abilities that you could add to cars in this world.

A few minutes later, we were pulling up to what looked like an abandoned industrial park, and there were about fifteen large cats running around chasing after Ace as he darted through them.

"He is making it easy for us," Chloe muttered as she parked the car a few hundred yards away from where Ace was leading them on a merry chase before stopping suddenly and turning toward one of the warehouses. The Mecha Cats skidded to a stop before following him into it, and I cursed.

"Dammit! Why couldn't he just stay outside!" I complained.

"You are going to have to get in there and help him. If anything but you causes his death, it is game over for you and Helena. I will pull up beside Grace and try to see if I can get her to talk. She is going to have to work with us if you can make friends with Ace, and he will basically be helping you kill him by training you. A little bit messed up, but you use what you are given to get the job done, right?"

"Yeah, I guess," I muttered as Chloe pulled up next to Ace's Truck and put the car in park.

I got out and then summoned my Ember Queen Gunblade before making a beeline for the entrance of the warehouse where Ace had gone into.

I burst through the door with my Ember Queen Gunblade at the ready as I scanned my surroundings quickly, taking everything in. It was dark inside, but there were rows of large metal cages that went all the way down either side to what looked like an arena area that had a high ceiling with lights hanging down over it. There was also another row of cages on either side leading up to it that made three total rows on each side, including where I came into this area from.

I heard a loud screeching that made me spin around as a large metal cat pounced at me. I dodged out of the way, but it slammed into the cage beside me hard enough to make it shatter and then turned toward me with an angry hiss as Ace came running up behind it.

"That's one!" He exclaimed before driving his fist right into its face, flipping itself backward before he leaped on top of it, slamming his fists down onto its skull over and over again until there was nothing left but scrap metal.

Ace punched the next Mecha Cat in its side so hard that I thought he broke some ribs as it was sent flying through the air to slam into another one of them, toppling both of them over like dominos falling in slow motion. It got back up with an angry yowl and charged at him full force while the other one tried to get up more slowly.

I just watched, but then Ace put the first in a headlock and then spun, using it as a weapon to hit the other cat.

"Hit this!" Ace yelled, and I acted before the words finished.

I stabbed my blade at the ass of the cat and activated my Tigger Shot, but I was flung backward full force when my blade doubled in length but just bounced off the mecha cat's side. Ace snapped the neck of the creature, and suddenly I got a bunch of level-up messages all the way to 54.

"That hurt," I groaned, but Ace had already grabbed another one.

"Again!" Ace shouted, but I switched to my hammer as I got up and then dropped it on the creature's back, ripping it right out of Ace's arms.
