I looked around the room again, and the place was nice, but it was pretty bare when I looked at it now. Not that I was complaining, but it wasn't as resplendent as I had first thought, but still more excellent than any place I had lived in.
I was in the highest plane of existence where all the gods from every story I had ever heard and even more I had never seen. Just being at that park had been enough to confirm after seeing all the strange and beautiful creatures there. It was hard to call them people because most of them were much different than any people that I had ever known.
That was what made me give the room a second look. If this was the place that I was told it was, then everything should be this good or much better? There was a chance that this building could be considered low-income. That would partially explain why Aquaria was helping me, but at the same time, it really didn't.
This woman was a knockout, and I really couldn't see the reason why she was helping me. Even if this place was as she said, and I was different. There had to be something more to it than that.
I really needed to find out more about this place and about her, and the only way I was going to do that was to go out on my own.
The sooner I started, the better, and there was no time like the present. I quickly got up from the bed and walked over to the door. I was about to open it when I heard a knock on it, and I quickly stepped away from it.
"Who is it?" I called out, and Aquaria's voice came from the other side.
"It is me! Can I come in?" She asked, and I quickly walked over to the door and opened it.
"Yeah, come in," I said, and she walked into the room with a smile on her face.
"I just wanted to check on you and see if you were doing alright," she said, and I nodded.
"I am fine; I was just going out to do some exploring on my own. I think that I need to get a better feel for the place," I said, hoping that she would go, but as I assumed, she didn't.
"Oh, I don't know if that is such a good idea. This place can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers," she said, and I just shook my head.
"I appreciate your concern, but I will be fine. I just need to get out and see things for myself," I said, and Aquaria sighed.

"Alright, then I will come with you," She said, and I nodded but then did a double take.
"Wait, what? No, I am just going to go out on my own. I am sure that you have other things you need to do, right?" I asked, but Aquaria shook her head, making me groan. "What is going on? Why are you staying glued to my side the moment I want to leave this room? I am ready to go take a back alley refrigerator box at this point rather than being strung along like this. You are suspicious as fuck, but also hot as fuck, so I have been patient, but now this just feels like I am waiting for something bad to happen."
There was a long pause, and silence filled the space between us as I stared at her. I was going to get the truth out of this situation, or I was just going to leave. I hated the feeling of standing at the edge of disaster, but that was what my life was before this, not what it would be now.
"I haven't lied to you or anything," Aquaria said slowly, but I was quick to reply.
"Lying and withholding the truth is the same thing right now. While I do think that you might care about me, you could just as easily wrap me around your finger with your beauty, blinding me, but I am not going to let that happen. Who are you, Aquaria, and what is your specific interest in me? If you can not answer these two simple questions, then I am out," I said, crossing my arms. I would hear no more excuses, and my mind was made.
Again, the silence stretched out between us, and I waited for her to give some type of explanation. I was getting impatient and was about to speak again when she finally did.
"You are different than anyone else that I have ever met," she said, and I cocked an eyebrow. "No, really, I am not just saying that because you are new here. I have been alive for a long time, and I have never met anyone like you. You are special, Halberd, and I can't explain it, but I just know that you are."
"Come on, stop with the games. That is bullshit, even if it might be true. Answer the question," I growled, and what I was waiting for finally happened.
"I am a poor goddess! There! Are you happy?! They weren't staring at you! They were staring at me and making jokes behind my back! You have no idea the ridicule that I will receive! This isn't some opulent place! This is considered one of the cheapest and dingiest places in all the higher realms! Even the lowest Realm of Heaven is better than this!" Aquaria snapped after closing the door and then pointed to the wall. "I had to shack up with another crazy old goddess that talks in her sleep so you could have my room!"
"Calm down, and take a breath," I said, but she was on a roll.
"Why should I?! You have no idea how hard it was to keep you hidden!! I even had to make a deal with one of the demons so he wouldn't hurt you!" Aquaria continued, and I just stood there with a blank expression on my face.
"I did all of this for you, and you just want to go running off into danger! You have no idea how much trouble you are in! If the wrong people find out about you, they will kill you! Do you understand that?!" She yelled, and I just nodded.
