[Six Months and three weeks before the tournament]
Inside the Pokestore...
"I have left food in the fridge and will return by evening, please listen to Meleotta," Deoxys said.
"∼Okayyyyy∼," x2 The two children answered as they obediently stand by the door.
Deoxys smiled and knelt down, the pokemon hugged Rubie and Saphir before patting their heads: "Don't let any strangers in no matter what,"
Even if Deoxys remind them, the pokemon knew that it will be highly unlikely that someone could safely break in. With the number of ghost pokemon living in the house and members of Twilight Shield on stand-by, intruders really have to think twice before trespassing.
They nodded and sadly muttered their farewell as Deoxys shut the front door, leaving Rubie and Saphir alone. They stared at each other dejectedly and twiddled their thumbs.
This has been happening more often now, with the construction of a pokemon stadium, Deoxys has to manage the building process personally and even the all-time lazy Ilulu has to help out with the grunt work.
Rubie and Saphir sighed as they dragged themselves to their room. Right now, all they wanted to do was sleep until their mother gets back. They crawled onto the bed and snuggled against each other, however suddenly, Rubie's eyes seemed to wander to a shiny object laying on the desk.
"Brother, what's that?"
The children got off the bed and wobbled to the desk. Saphir stood on his tiptoes and reached for the small object. He felt his little fingers graze the item and he grabbed it with some effort. Saphir opened his palm and in it was a beautiful gold key with small colourful gems welded onto it.
Saphir: "It's a key,"
Rubie: "Oooh pretty!"
Since it's a key, the children decided to try on the door of their room. Unfortunately, they weren't tall enough to reach the keyholes so they have to stack on top of each other.
"Be careful," Saphir warned.
"Nn!" And with all her strength, Rubie inserted the key into the hole and twisted.
FWOOSH
The gems on the key glowed and a small gust blow the children onto their butts as they stared at the door dumbfounded. The door shined a brilliant light, like a gateway to heaven. Colourful petals began to drift out of the heaven gate, alluring the children and they subconsciously took a step forward.
Meanwhile...
Meleotta was sitting on top of a rock in the backyard. She hummed a sweet tone and the surrounding pokemon gathered to listen. Suddenly, a Ghastly rushes out of the house and approached Meletotta.
"Ghast Ghastly!" The pokemon frantically called Meleotta.
Meleotta's face paled and she sprinted into the house. Once upstairs, she saw Rubie and Saphir walking into an ominous white doorway: "Meleotta! (Hey wait!)"
However, it was too late as the children fully entered the gate closed behind them, returning to a normal door: "Otta... (Oh crap....)"
Back to the Children.
Rubie and Saphir entered the white gate and they found themselves in a magical forest. Flowers in different colours that were way bigger than the children towered over them. Large vibrant trees, mushrooms and a warm sun shining above them.
When they looked closer, Rubie and Saphir spotted little people with wings darting around the trunks energetically.
"Fairies!" They squealed with joy, Rubie and Saphir vividly remembered reading about these creatures in storybooks.
The fairies darted around as they exited and entered tiny houses made of twigs and leaves. The children quietly approached a tree and observed the fascinating creatures. Some fairies noticed Rubie and Saphir's presence and they curiously circled them.
The children's eyes sparkled like stars and they reached out their tiny hands. Sensing the children have no ill intentions, the fairies approvingly sat on the children. They made little squeaking noises when they talk, Rubie and Saphir don't understand their language but the sounds the fairies made caused them to giggle.
Eventually, the fairies stopped playing with the children and decided to lead them somewhere. Rubie and Saphir diligently followed and venture deeper into the forest. On their path, they stumbled across many pokemon, specifically in the Fairy Typing. The further they go, the more pokemon Rubie and Saphir saw.
The children finally reached a clearing in the forest. The ground was littered with petals as Floettes and Flabebes tended to them. However, the children weren't focusing on the majestic scenery, but instead on the giant pokemon that was quietly sleeping in the middle.

It has a black body and blue fur on its head and neck. The creature has four antlers each with a different colour, reminding Rubie and Saphir of a rainbow. The flowers beside the animal seemed to be much more lush and lively than the rest as if the creature was the cause of the abundance of life. However, the other pokemon seemed to be purposefully avoiding the sleeping beast, not sure if it was out of fear or respect.
However, Rubie and Saphir weren't perturbed and they bravely walked toward it...
Xerneas was in a peaceful trance and basked under the sun. But suddenly, the pokemon felt someone prodding her body. She slowly opened her eyes and saw two children curiously looking at her. Xerneas was surprised, this area was not something mere human children could freely enter, no...
Xerneas looked more closely, she detected a familiar energy flowing within the children. The pokemon wasn't sure that she should treat them with caution and the children looked practically harmless. However, her instinct told her that she needs to be careful.
'Who are you?' Xerneas uttered.
"I'm Rubie!"
"I'm Saphir!"
Children: "What's your name?" x2
'My name is Xerneas and the one that looked after all life,'
"Xerneas? That's a weird name!" Rubie giggled.
'I can say the same for Rubie,' Xerneas joked.
Rubie pouted at Xerneas's taunting, "It's not! Mommy gave us good names!" She argued.
Xerneas hummed with amusement: 'So how did you two get here?' The pokemon asked.
"Ah," Saphir dug through his pockets and took out a key, and showed it to Xerneas: "This is mommy's key, we tried it on a door and it brought us here," he explained.
Xerneas nodded and instructed Saphir to put the key away. Suddenly, the children's stomachs rumbled and they blushed with embarrassment. Xerneas ordered a group of Floettes to bring some berries.
They joyfully dug in as Xernea watched them eat. She doesn't understand why but her instinct tells Xernea that she should treat them well: 'Is it good?' Xerneas asked.
"Dwelish...." Rubie and Saphir replied while their mouth was stuffed with fruit.
Their cheeks bloated like chipmunks and Xerneas gently licked their faces clean. They continued to take while questioning each other. Xerneas was curious about their identity, especially their mother. However, all of Rubie and Saphir's answers were non-stop praises of how powerful she was.
Soon the children's eyelids began to droop and they yawned tiredly. Rubie and Saphir wanted to return to the house but their body was too tired to listen. In the end, Rubie and Saphir leaned their heads on Xerneas's body. The children smiled when they rubbed their faces on the pokemon's soft fur and it wasn't long before they fell asleep.
Rubie and Saphir snored softly and Xerneas watched with a complicated expression. She has the power to grant eternal life yet right now she's being used as a pillow…
The deer sighed and wrapped her head around the children. Xerneas closed her eyes and continued to wonder about who's the parent of these children and why they felt so familiar.
Xerneas opened one of her eyes. She has detected a presence suddenly arriving in her domain. Whoever it was, the intruder was extremely strong and was blatantly signifying its presence. The individual was travelling towards Xerneas at a blinding speed. Before the pokemon could react, the being arrived.
Xerneas's eyes widened: 'My queen,'
Deoxys's emotionless eyes and lack of facial features made Xerneas shudder. The stag tried to stand up but was stopped by Deoxys's Psychic. The alien approached the children and wrapped its tendril around them.
Deoxys carefully pulled them into its embrace and its eyes softened, 'I apologize for the disturbance they've caused,'
'Ah,' Xerneas understood why Rubie and Saphir felt so familiar and hurriedly lowered her head, 'They are no trouble at all,'
'I wouldn't mind having them here again, they are quite lively and enjoyable,'
Deoxys nodded: 'Your offer will be considered… I bid you farewell
Together with Rubie and Saphir in its arms, Deoxys teleported away. Watching where Deoxys previously was standing, Xerneas subconsciously exhaled with relief and the pokemon felt that she has just dodged a bullet.
