[Five months and two weeks before the tournament]

Deoxys: "This is the tooth of the Kraken that has been terrorizing the fishermen. I hope this is enough confirmation of my completion of the task."

"Ah thank you so much!" Guild Receptionist Nykka chirped and paid Deoxys the commission fee for the mission.

"We're sorry that we have to call you out of the blue. Lady Deoxys is the only one that could subjugate the monster. You have been busy lately right?" The dog demi-human asked while Deoxys stashed the coins away.

"That's correct, many things needed to be arranged for the project. Thankfully, things have calmed down and I'm freer than usual," Deoxys answered.

After a month of managing the construction, Deoxys can leave the development of the stadium to the builders and have more time to tend to the store. However, some miscellaneous things happened like the impressive Lapras that Clara brought back or Adventurer tasks that required Deoxys's strength.

As Deoxys was prepared to leave, it suddenly heard a commotion in the guild. An adventurer was holding a young boy by the back of his collar and was dragging him out of the guild. The boy was dressed in a long wizard robe, a shabby wand and an oversized wizard hat, unbefitting his small physique.

"Ugh let go!" the boy yelled.

"How many times do I have to tell you, go home!" The adventurer barked.

"What's happening?" Deoxys couldn't help but voice out.

Nykka sighed: "This has been happening around two weeks ago, this young boy suddenly strolled in and demanded to become an adventurer. Obviously, we denied him and he has been barging in almost every day. Adventuring isn't something fun and mighty, the job is usually highly dangerous and I'm not surprised by the sour complaints of the adventurers."

Deoxys nodded and observed the child. He was around the age of ten to thirteen with light brown hair and green eyes with freckles. However, Deoxys wasn't particularly focused on the boy's appearance but on what was within.

Deoxys: 'Mew, you could sense it too correct?'

'Yeah, he has a decently high amount of psychic energy, for a human at least.' Mew responded.

'I've never known that there could also be Psychics here,' Deoxys questioned.

'Well the world's a big place,' Mew shrugged: 'But it may be interesting...'

A system screen appeared before Deoxys's eyes:

[Task: Train a Psychic Apprentice!

Reward: Technical Machines!]

Deoxys sighed, the pokemon expected this was what the little mouse would do. The task seemed troublesome but the reward could benefit the store greatly. In the end, Deoxys begrudgingly approached the struggling child.

"Put him down," Deoxys ordered, "Let me talk to him"

When the adventurer saw who was talking to him. He nodded and dropped the child down before bowing to Deoxys and leaving in a panic. The child rubbed his sore bum: "Ow... Thanks, lady!" He said politely.

The boy finally got a clear look at his benefactor and his eyes widened with shock: "You're that diamond-rank adventurer right?! The Magic Monarch??!"

Deoxys frowned: "I'm not familiar with that term…"

Nykka stepped in and gently whispered in Deoxys's ears: "It's a tradition that people reaching platinum rank all got a title fitting for them."

"Then what's Ilulu?" Deoxys asked,

"Um…" Nykka's expression turned awkward: "It's Crazy Berserker Woman,"

Deoxys's lips twitched upon hearing Ilulu's title. The pokemon calmed down and turned back to the young boy, "Why do you want to be an adventurer?"

The boy: "Because I want to become the strongest wizard in the world!!!!"

Deoxys hummed: "That's a rather large ambition…"

"If I trained hard then I will succeed!" He yelled with a voice full of passion.

Deoxys's eyes seemed to glow with amusement: "Then show me what you can do,"

"Eh right here, right now??" The boy yelled.

Deoxys nodded, "Okay you asked for it!" He said and waved his wand around menacingly, "Fireball!"

The pokemon anticipated being faced with a decent attack but expectations were deceiving…

POOF

A little kindle of flame burst from the tip of the wand. The tiny ember drifted towards Deoxys and the pokemon caught the flame in its fingers.

'It's not even hot…' Deoxys thought before crushing the pitiful flame.

"How was that!?" The boy snorted.

Deoxys: "Weak,"

"Huh," The boy froze in disbelief.

"The flame is extremely fragile, it's more fitting as a lighter rather than an attack spell," Deoxys analysed before gazing into the boy's eyes: "I asked you to use your full strength,"

The boy gritted his teeth: "I was using my full strength…."

"Is that so?" Deoxys said, "Then it's best to give up being an adventurer,"

"What are you talking about," He growled,

Deoxys: "With this amount of magic power, you may have a better chance training to wield a sword,"

"Never! Magic is the greatest!" He shouted.

"Then show me," The pokemon replied and took a large step back.

The young boy waved his wand around, summoning a multitude of tiny embers and launching them at the pokemon. Deoxys flicked its wrist and the fire was extinguished immediately.

The small wizard clicked his teeth and the intensity of his barrage increased, however, no matter what he does, none of the attacks could manage to hit. Deoxys sidestepped and effortlessly weaved through the path of his flames. With every step, Deoxys walked closer and with every step, the anxiety in the boy's heart increased.

Beads of sweat dripped from his forehead. He felt that he was running out of mana and the boy desperately drive Deoxys back.

"Ah.." The boy fell on his back as Deoxys loomed over him.

Under Deoxys's cold gaze, the boy gulped and felt suffocated. He clenched his fist until his knuckles turned pale. He knew his inability to use magic, it have always been this way.

'She's going to tell me to give up as well…' The boy thought.

Deoxys: "Come with me,"

"Wh…what"

"You want to get stronger correct?" Deoxys questioned and seeing him hesitantly nodding, the pokemon continued: "Then follow me,"

Without waiting for a reply, Deoxys left through the front door. The boy was still sitting on the floor in a daze. He finally snapped out of his shock and stupidly looked around. Every eye where on him, some with amusement and some with slight envy. He embarrassingly stood up and patted his butt before hurriedly chasing after the pokemon.
