Chapter 64: The Day is Finally Here so Lets Start it With a Bang!!

BOOM

BOOM!!

The sound of fireworks roared across the sky. The colosseum was filled with the cheers and chatter of the spectators. Today's the first day of the official Pokemon Competition. The elimination trial lasted for a week; now, only eight trainers remain.

Outside the colosseum was a massive festival. Stalls and shops were arranged and the laughter of the citizens could be heard everywhere. Unfortunately, the colosseum wasn't big enough to fit everyone, but thankfully, using magic technology. People could watch the battle in their homes using magical glass globes that could replay the battle from a distance.

Deoxys hummed with satisfaction at the success of this event. The pokemon observed the excited faces of the crowd before nodding to itself: 'It's time...'

As if right on cue, a sharp roar echoed across the stadium. Everyone glanced at the sky and four large creatures soared above them in a uniform line. Three animals resembled a green insectoid dragon while the other was a huge blue dragon with red wings that looked like the crescent moon.

The three Flygons flew to the side, forming a triangle. Bright orange orbs gathered in the center of their chest and the Flygons unleashed Draco Meteor. The sphere shot into the air before exploding and dozens of comets fell down through the air.

Salamence, who was waiting, roared and dashed toward the meteors. The dragon flew at an unbelievable speed and destroyed the Draco Meteors with Giga Impact. Like a shooting star, Salamence collided with all the tiny comets.

BOOOM

The meteors exploded and to the audience's surprise, they were showered with dust that sparkled like the stars. The Flygons then opened their mouth and released a green breath from their jaws. The Dragon Breath transformed the freefalling glitter into an emerald color, dying the sky green, and creating an aurora.

Rumble Rumble

Suddenly the Pokemon field split open and a large branch emerged from the ground. On the branch, there were twenty birds covered in red feathers with pink beaks and purple eyelids. The Oricorios elegantly hopped onto the ground and they danced in a wide circle.

The rupture became larger and the Oricorios danced eagerly: "Venusaur!!!" An enormous pokemon with bumpy green skin with a big plant bulb growing from its back appeared from the crack. 

The Venusaur roared while Oricorios ran in circles and they chirped happily, bringing warmth into this amazing atmosphere. Venausaur roared and the bulb on its back bloomed, revealing a beautiful flower with pink petals. A drifting aroma wafted through the stadium, everyone felt relaxed and had a sense of peacefulness.

However, the audience wasn't particularly focused on the dancing Oricorios or the blooming flower, but on the small pokemon within the plant. The creature was simply described as majestic and she watched the crowd with a wide smile.

Meleotta waved at the crowd before leaping off of the Venausaur. In her hands were countless pokeballs and she threw them in the air. The pokeballs burst open and a group of pokemon appeared holding instruments.

Meleotta's smile widened and she flicked her hair. She brought her hands close to her chest before singing a charming melody. Following Meleotta the pokemon held an assortment of instruments and began to play.

Rilaboom's drum...

Kricektune's violin...

Primarina's harp...

Audino's flute...

And finally, Meleotta's voice...

With the combination of all the pokemon playing, a harmonious tone was created. The audience was stunned and silent as Meleotta sang. Their ears tickled and they couldn't help but feel a large warmth in their hearts. The song was so bewitching as if angels have descended from heaven and were whispering to their ears.

As they reached the chorus, a strange phenomenon occurred. Meleotta's figure transformed and her wavy green hair changed into an auburn color that was tied in a bun. Together with the Oricorios, they performed a graceful dance.

After a few minutes, the performance ended and Meleotta bowed at the spectators. There was silence before the stadium erupted into cheers. Citizens jumped on their seats and their hearts thumped with excitement.

Meleotta wiped the sweat off her forehead and she stood there with a proud expression. The group of Pokemon soon left, leaving Meleotta alone on the stage. Once the field was swiftly repaired by the ground-type pokemon, Deoxys teleported onto the field.

'You did great,' Deoxys telepathically praised Meleotta and she beamed with joy.

The alien soon turned to the crowd and the people became quiet. The pokemon calmly gaze at the spectators and tapped the small magical device it placed by its throat, enhancing its voice.

"Greetings to all citizens of Lugella...." Deoxys spoke with clarity, "Today's the day that we have all been patiently waiting for. Pokemon only appeared in our lives last year and now has become one of the most sensational miracles that happened to this country."

Listening to Deoxys's words the people couldn't help but agree. Pokemon has truly changed each of their lives in a beneficial way and it was rare now to see the citizens without a smile on their faces.

"In this ceremony, we will see the progress made between people and pokemon. We will see their unshatterable bond, fighting together as one to overcome this challenge."

Cheers and applause roared in the stadium. The people's hearts pounded against their chests. Children and adults fiddled in their seats as they couldn't control their enthusiasm.

"Now let me introduce you to these powerful trainers," Deoxys announced and gestured at the gate on the side of the stadium.

The large wooden gate opened and everyone held their breath. Eight people slowly emerged out of the dark entrance and the viewers went wild.

As they approached the field, Alice glanced at the crowd and she felt nervous: 'So many people...' She thought anxiously.

She managed to survive the elimination trial and has been selected as one of the eight trainers that would have the honor of fighting today. Beside her were Layla, Clara, Lucius, Akel, and Capsian.

There were also two that she wasn't so familiar with, there was a black-haired girl, Alice could tell that the girl was a demi-human with her two feline ears twitching on the top of her head. Another was a weird grumpy dwarf that seemed like he doesn't belong there.

"Are you nervous?" Clara asked Alice.

Alice smiled wryly and nodded: "Yeah aren't you?"

Clara shrugged: "We just have to try our best right?"

Alice: "Nn!"

Abruptly the two felt a strange gaze behind them. They saw the mysterious girl staring at the with a frown. The girl turned away with a complicated expression, leaving Clara and Alice confused.

"I don't understand what my Goddess sees in them..." Erika quietly muttered to herself.

Clara and Alice couldn't hear what she was saying. Unfortunately, they don't have the time to dwell on the subject and they shortly arrive on the stage. Deoxys was calmly observing the group before smiling.

"I looked forward to your skills, good luck..." Deoxys said.

Everyone smiled and was instantly motivated by Deoxys's encouragement. The pokemon nodded and turned to the crowd: "Before we start, let us welcome the person assisting the contenders.

A young woman with light green hair arrived on stage. She shyly glanced at the group before waving her hand: "H...Hello, my name is Emily, I will be the one to help your pokemon recover in tiptop shape!"

They all thanked Emily for her work and she ran downstage with a blush on her face, "If you got any problem with your Pokemon's well-being, please ask her and she will gladly assist you," Deoxys explained.

All of them nodded and note Emily's name in their hearts. Deoxys faced the crowd: "Final thing, let's have the king say a few words before we begin."

Everyone turned their heads and stared at the royal booth, which was located at the top of the stadium, overlooking the entire field. King Arthur was sitting with his wife and daughter and they smiled courteously at the audience.

The king stood up and cleared his throat: "Good morning people of Lugella, I know a lot of you have been anticipating today so I will keep things short. It's truly an honor to be able to host this event, Pokemon has truly changed our lives and it was all thanks to Lady Deoxys. For that, I thank you,"

Arthur bowed at the pokemon and everyone gasped. Was the king bowing? No way!? This was a shocking scene that you won't see in a lifetime, however, the person receiving the bow was Deoxys itself so it's far from absurd.

Deoxys nodded at Arthur and the king returned to his seat and the respectable atmosphere disappeared: "Now we shall officially begin!"

Everyone applauded once more and under Deoxys's order, workers started dragging a large board and a small box onto the stage.

Deoxys approached the box and flipped it over, revealing a hole: "We will decide your opponents through a selection process." The alien explained.

Everyone held their breath and the only sound audible was Deoxys's hand digging through the box. The pokemon took out eight name tags in order and declared:

"The following match-ups are as follows:

1. Akel Levonn vs Erika Chauvet

2. Layla Leclair vs Capsian Remford

3. Gareff Stoneheart vs Lucius Redwall

4. Clara Isbert vs Alice Redwall.

When the match was announced, the eight trainers felt tense and secretly observed their opponents. Deoxys's words suddenly interrupted their thinking: "With the opponents assigned, the first match will now begin! Akel Levonn and Erika Chauvet, please get into your positions while the rest of the trainers will watch on the sidelines."

The audience went into an uproar. Finally, the battle between the strongest trainers in Lugella was starting!!

BOOM

Fireworks once again reverbed in the air, signaling the beginning of something grand...
