REI was driving the car he snatched towards the nearest dungeon. And by the nearest, he meant the closest to the mall. Since it only gave them one hour to enter a dungeon, it’s only logical to choose one that could be reached the fastest. He had been faithfully following the map to get there as fast as possible.

[Hey, Cato, you’ve been silent until now.]–he said to his partner. After the start of the tutorial, he hardly heard the other speak. Although Cato was not that talkative, it’s still weird for the other to not speak for so long. [Are you taking a dump or something?]

Cato, who was immersed in his thoughts, heard the nonsense of his master, and he resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Thank goodness he didn’t have one. He was once again glad that he was an entity that didn’t need any eyes, ears, mouth to see, hear, and speak.

[No, master. I’m simply thinking.]

[About what?]

There were a few seconds of silence before Cato answered. [The ability that master gained… I think it’s familiar.]

Rei frowned when he heard that. [Familiar in what way?]

[It just felt familiar. But it also felt different. I’m probably not making any sense. I can’t even explain it properly. The easiest way to probably explain it was a sense of déjà vu.]

[Déjà vu? Then it must be connected to your missing memory.]–Rei commented.

It’s not a secret that Cato didn’t have any memories of his past. It’s one reason they were hunting down that bastard Sinclair. Before leaving the lab five years ago, Cato discovered some data that could be related to his existence. He wanted to further analyze it, but his strength was not enough back then. In fact, both of their strengths were not enough.

It took five years for Rei to train himself to the state he was in now. From different martial arts to training in both hot and cold weapons, his progress was extremely terrifying.

If those scientists tested him in that way, maybe they wouldn’t be so fast in judging that he was a waste. After all, he was still a being they synthesised in a lab using an unknown gene. There’s no way he could be just a simple trash. But it worked out in Rei’s favor, anyway. So, he’s thankful for those scientists’ stupidity and carelessness.

He just didn’t expect that the skills he trained so hard for in order to face Sinclair and his goons would actually be helpful in this sudden ‘apocalypse’ they’re experiencing. Should he say that his luck was still good?

[I think so as well.]–Cato said in agreement. [I just don’t know how.]

[Don’t worry too much. If this game is related to you, as long as I don’t die, we will find out about it soon enough.]

[Please, don’t jinx yourself, master.]–Cato said in a wry tone. [If there’s someone who will live until the end of all this, I believe it will be you.]

[Thank you for the vote of confidence.]–Rei said with a smirk. [I’ll try my best not to die too early.]

With that, they finally reached their destination.

Rei parked the car further from the red dot on the map. He parked it in a slightly hidden corner. This was his current mode of transportation. He didn’t want it to be snatched by another person.

He climbed down from the car and carried his mountaineering bag with him. Rei then pushed it under the car. He wasn’t planning on bringing the whole bag with him. Aside from the fact that it’s too eye-catching, he believed this tutorial wouldn’t last a whole day that he needed to bring food and other amenities with him.

The most important thing he needed in this situation was a weapon. That’s why he had a belt bag with him filled with two boxes of bullets. He also had another dagger strapped to his thigh, aside from the one that he already had.

After checking that he forgot nothing, Rei walked in the direction where the red dot was pointing. It didn’t take long for him to arrive. His gaze landed on the five-meter-tall blue portal. It looked like one of those portals one saw in those sci-fi movies. This should be the dungeon.

Rei looked around. He wasn’t the only one around the area. There were people scattered here and there. But most of them were shaking, their posture full of timidity while looking at the dungeon. He bypassed some of these people and walked towards this portal.

When he was about two meters away, another notification appeared in front of him.

[A dungeon is detected. Please enter before all the slots are filled. (12/15)]

12/15? So, these things had a fixed number of people it could accommodate? But what’s probably more surprising was the fact that there were already 12 people inside.

Rei didn’t hesitate and just entered the dungeon.

He didn’t feel much when he walked inside. Only a bit of vertigo. Which was almost negligible. When he opened his eyes, he saw a lush forest. He turned around and tried to touch the dungeon behind. But a spark of electricity appeared the moment he did.

So, you couldn’t arbitrarily go out once you entered.

He looked around at the forest. All he could see were tall trees everywhere. Obviously, this was a completely different place. Was this another dimension? Or just a simulated world created by those cubes?

Before he could think further, another notification appeared.

[Welcome to the Orc Dungeon!]

When Rei read that, he almost laughed. [It seems that lady luck is on my side today.]

[A rare occurrence, indeed.]–Cato said.

The text on the virtual screen changed.

[Task(s):

1.      Defeat 10 orcs and you’ll be able to pass the tutorial.

2.      Defeat as many orcs as you can to get better rewards. (or)

3.      Defeat the dungeon boss to completely close the dungeon.]

[Are you going to do it all, master?]–Cato asked.

Rei grinned. [Of course I will.]

He had only taken a step when another notification appeared.

[The live broadcast is now starting!]
