THE goblin immediately took that chance to attack Rei
with its clawed hand. Rei quickly moved his head to the left, letting the
goblin’s attack to pass the side of his head. If he wasn’t quick enough, this
goblin might have already taken out his brain.
As he dodged, he pulled out the gun that was holstered on
his shoulder. Then he pointed it to the goblin’s ear and fired. At this close
range, there’s no way Rei would miss. The bullet went straight to the goblin’s
ear hole. It stopped moving and green blood poured out from every orifice of
its face. Then, it fell down on the floor.
Rei didn’t check if the goblin was already dead. He just
quickly pointed his gun at the other four goblins and fired four consecutive
shots, not giving any of them a chance to attack him. He targeted the goblins’
ear holes and eyes.
Since the blade of his Katana didn’t work on the skin of
that first goblin, there’s a chance that the bullet he fired might not affect
these monsters if he shot them normally. He didn’t want to gamble. Especially
since he didn’t have a lot of extra bullets with him. So, he shouldn’t waste it
and make sure that every single shot will kill one goblin.
That’s why he targeted the eyes and the ears. If a
fast-moving trajectory entered someone’s ear, whether they were human or
otherwise, it would surely explode in one’s brain. As for the eyes, he knew nothing
about goblin anatomy, but surely, its eyes would be much more vulnerable
compared to its tough skin.
And facts had proven that his decision was right. All
four goblins fell, one after another. Their bodies twitched at first until it
no longer moved. That’s when Rei knew that all the five goblins were now dead.
He looked at the clock on the wall—almost one minute had
already passed. Rei only had a little over four minutes to get out of this
building. He didn’t have time to analyze the source of the virtual screen or
whether to follow through it. He decided to just escape this building within
five minutes, no matter what.
These goblins appearing out of nowhere strengthened it
further. It’s better to assume the worst case and follow what was written on
the virtual screen than question it and then die later without even knowing the
how and the why.
Rei picked up the swivel chair behind the desk, then
smash it on the window. He thought that since this was only the fourth floor,
he could probably scale it down. He’d probably get a wound or two, but he
didn’t care since it’s the fastest way to get out of here.
But when the chair hit the window, it simply bounced
back. As if there’s a shield protecting it.
Rei cursed under his breath. The whole building was
probably in this kind of state. It’s like telling him he shouldn’t do any
shortcut and just honestly get out of the building using the entrance.
He ran out of the office with the 9mm Glock
pistol in his hand. Its magazine could hold 18 bullets. He had two extra
magazines left. And since he had already used five bullets, that left him with
49 bullets. He should make sure that none of these bullets would go to waste.

The moment he stepped out of the room, ten pairs of red
eyes turned back to look at him. Ten goblins were scattered on the corridor of
the fourth floor leading to the elevator and the staircase.
He had already expected that the building was probably
teeming with these creatures, so he wasn’t really that surprised at seeing
them. If he used the elevator, there’s a chance that it might not be working
properly. Or if it did, goblins might enter through the elevator roof hatch. It
would be much harder to fight inside a close space and the chance of the
bullets bouncing off was pretty high, too.
So, in that split second of seeing the goblins in the
corridor, he didn’t hesitate to use the stairs over the elevator.
The goblins rushed in his direction to attack him. Rei
raised his gun and fired three consecutive shots. Then he ducked to avoid an incoming
attack. As he did, he took out a dagger hidden in his boots and stabbed the eye
of a nearby goblin.
He continued this shoot and stab attack until he reached
the stairs. When he did, he quickly climbed down. He was counting the seconds
in his head. So, he knew just how many minutes were still remaining. He still
had 42 bullets left. And three floors to get through.
Rei grinned. This was truly an interesting way to spend
the night.
There were also goblins scattered on the stairs. In fact,
there were much more goblins here compared to the corridor on the fourth floor.
It’s probably to prevent anyone from successfully going down from one floor to
another.
Maybe choosing the elevator would have been the better
and easier option, that was if it’s working. But he’s already here now. Might
as well just get over with.
With a gun in one hand and a dagger in another, he rushed
through the stream of goblins in front of him. Fire a bullet there, stab the
nearby goblin next. He continued on in this mechanical manner. By the time he
reached the third floor, he already looked like a complete mess.
He didn’t stop and just continued moving.
Time left: three minutes.
