REACHING the third floor, Rei continued to climb down
towards the second floor. As expected, the stairs were still teeming with
goblins. Rei was already as calm as a waveless sea. No matter how many goblins
he saw, it would no longer surprised him. But that didn’t mean that he would
let down his guard. No, doing so would simply equate to death.
The goblins on the stairs rushed towards Rei. He fired
shots and was ready to dodge when some goblins he shot evaded the bullet.
That’s not all. The attack he tried to dodge almost hit him. If he didn’t move
his body to the side, the goblin’s claws might have already pierced his
stomach.
But with this, Rei could see that the goblins’ reflex and
speed increased tremendously. If the goblins on the fourth floor were level 1,
then these goblins were probably level 3. That kind of comparison.
If that’s the case, then he should also move accordingly
and match their speed.
He raised his hand holding the dagger and stabbed a
goblin, who jumped towards him. Plunging it to one of its eyes. When he pulled
it out, green blood splashed on him. He didn’t care and just jumped to the
railing. From there, he jumped to the next set of stairs. This way, his descent
would be much faster.
As he did, goblins tried to jump on him. He shot those
that were a few distances away and he stabbed at those who had gotten close.
His goal was not to kill every goblin here. His only goal
was to get out of this building. If he didn’t have a time limit, he might
consider doing the former. But since that was not the case, his priority should
be to get out of here within the set time limit.
And so, once he landed on the next set of stairs, he
repeated the same action. He jumped on the railing and continued jumping to the
next set of stairs. Once he reached that last set, he would pass the second floor
already and go onto his way to the first floor.
But he didn’t expect that while on the air jumping, an
arrow appeared out of nowhere and shot at him. Because he was in mid-air, it’s
difficult to dodge. He could only lean his body away, but it still grazed the
coat he’s wearing, even wounding him. That’s not the end. Three more arrows
shot in his direction. It’s a good thing that he was already close to the
stairs.
So, he landed on the railing first and avoided the arrows.
Although one still grazed him. He just finished dodging when an axe with a
blade made of bone came rushing at his face. Out of reflex, he raised his hand
and defended himself with his dagger. The force almost caused him to be out of
balance.
He held his footing and then at the open mouth of the
goblin that attacked him with the axe, he fire a shot. It was only then that Rei noticed that
the goblins on this set of stairs had weapons. And their speed was the same as
those goblins on the third floor. But unlike the latter goblins, their power
was much stronger. As evidence of how that earlier goblin almost toppled him
over.

He wondered how much stronger the goblins on the first
floor would be.
Rei saw goblins holding a bow and arrow, readying to
attack him. He didn’t give them time. He quickly replaced his empty magazine
with a full one and immediately shot at every archer goblin he saw. Projectile
weapons like arrows were much harder to dodge. So, he just aimed at the goblins
that would hinder him more from jumping to the next set of stairs.
Of course, as he was shooting those goblins, he was also
in mid-air, jumping to the next set of stairs. As long as he got through this,
he would finally arrive on the first floor.
Rei was about to land when an arrow shot to the side and almost
pierced his cheek. But he bent back like some Matrix character and it simply
flashed by him. He continued that back bending to a full-blown back flip,
landing exactly at the very first step of the stairs.
He stepped back, finally fully being at the first floor.
Weirdly enough, the goblins didn’t follow him. They were still glaring at him
as if they wanted to eat his organs or something. So, it’s not a question of they wouldn’t, but they couldn’t.
With this, it’s quite obvious that certain goblins were
only allowed on the floor they’re responsible in. At least in this set-up, all
the goblins in this building couldn’t gather on one floor. Then, that meant
that he didn’t have to go through a flood of goblins.
When he turned around and was about to walk towards the
entrance, his steps faltered for the first time in quite a while.
Because there, standing guard at the entrance, was a
seven-foot creature with grayish skin and a large muscular body. It was
standing in a stooped posture. It had a hoglike face with lower canines
resembling a tusk.
An… orc?
Time left: 1 minute and 40 seconds.
