They had left the prison promptly, and encountered the prison guards. There were eight in total that blocked their path, and when they spotted them, they said something along the lines of 'the prisoners escaped, capture them!'
Before Elijah hid, Ferwen grabbed his hand and said "I see you have an extra sword- if it wouldn't be too much to ask, might you lend me one?"
After hanging over one of his weapons, Elijah hid in the shadows as Ferwen rushed forward to intercept the opponents. He struck the first one in the neck, somehow managing to get the blade between the plates of armor and helmet and killing the offending dwarf instantly. He took down another before Elijah struck. Sneaking around one of the guards preparing to surround Ferwen, he sunk a rapier in his shoulder.

Sneak Attack -4
Elijah didn't ponder as he jumped back and hid immediately, his elven boots assisting his stealth capabilities enough that it was as though he vanished.
The guard was heavily injured, and turned to see who had attacked him but was confused when he saw no one. The remaining six, one of which heavily injured, ganged up on Ferwen, trying to strike at him, but he seemingly effortlessly dogged their attacks and then he struck once again, knocking down another guard, as well as the one struck previously, leaving four.
Elijah wasn't sure what his Damage Avoidance was at, but it must've been ridiculously high. He wondered if they had a way to measure that.
Elijah struck at his previous target again, sticking his rapier into his chest.

Sneak Attack -4
The guard crumpled, having taken 22 damage. The four guards had then been reduced again to two, Elijah struck one of the remaining ones, dealing

And was struck back at twice in turn as the guard worked and faced him in surprise; one hitting him in the arm and doing -7, and the other missing him so badly that Elijah would be a fool to miss that chance to cut at him.
Rapier -5
The guard that Elijah faced was looking only slightly worse for wear, and the guard that Ferwen faced was already unconscious.
Elijah struck again, hitting on the first try by a small margin, grazing an arm, and missing the second strike.
Rapier -1
Elijah was aided by Ferwen, who came over after he knocked the other guard unconscious.
He slashed once, and a vivid Ferwen -44 flashed above.
Elijah was not even going to think about what that might imply, not in the middle of a fight.
Rapier -6
Critical hit! -6
The guard, having suffered a major blow from Ferwen and a pinprick from Elijah, turned to Ferwen and slashed out. A succussion of three slashes, followed by another one, only the second and third hitting Ferwen and a -21 Flashed above him. He dogged the last one with a whirl, mid spin taking the dagger the guard had at the waist, and with continued momentum stuck the dagger in the guards throat, a Ferwen -32 ending the guard's life.
Huffing, he caught his breath. looking over, nodded at Elijah said "you fought well."
Elijah smiled wryly while looking at the eight guards- two of which he'd killed, and even then one assisted. That he'd barely damaged it was also heavy on his mind.

Checking his status to see his health, Elijah recieved a shock.
Experience 1,339(100)/20
Health 9/16
He'd recieved one hundred and one experience points, and he'd barely done anything.
He assumed that he obtained one experience point from the one he killed by himself, and the one hundred from the one that Ferwen killed with his help. After some quick calculations, he came to this conclusion:
32+44+6+6+5+1=94 is around the guard's total health.
6+6+5+1=18 is how much damage he did.
(18/94)×512=about 98.
He got to give hundred and twelve through powers of two, as his experience is calculated. It the number of health that the guard had was 92, then 98 points become 100, as it was two of Ferwen's points that became obsolete.
What he didn't understand was why it was in brackets next to the rest of his experience.
He would (maybe) mull this over later.
"Where the princess?" Ferwen asked.
Elijah looked around, and indeed, she was not in sight.
He did see bloody footprints leading away from the scuffle area.
Following the tracks, it lead out of the tower and into the main building, into what Elijah assumed was the throne room.
"Is that him?" Elijah asked, pointing at the floating dwarf that had purple energy coming out of him, pure black eyes, pure black dragon wings sprouting from his back, and was about to start laughing maniacally and telling everyone how they'll all die after finding out the truth that he poisoned the king, that they should have trusted the half-elf's judgement and not locked him in prison, and that the underground kingdom of Orebraon was his for the taking.
At the investigators nod, Elijah said "that's not a mage, that's a sorcerer!"
Then he saw the princess standing before him, cuts tattered her dress and body as she bled from some of them. Yet she stood tall, exuding bravery, boldness, unwillingness to surrender.
It seems they had arrived a tad bit after the evil monologue.
"Oh no! We're too late!" Elijah exclaimed.
"Don't worry," Ferwen assured him, "we can still salvage things," He looked grim yet determined.
"You think he'll be willing to repeat it? That's a great idea! Lets ask!"
"What?" Ferwen was confused.
Elijah stepped out of the hallway and into the great hall, asking out loud to the powerful sorcerer "excuse me, can you repeat that? I was slightly delayed and missed it!"
"... What?" The sorcerer's confusion was evident as he looked at the newcomer.
"The evil monologue! I missed it! C'mon, be a pal and share- sharing is caring! So don't leave me hanging!"
"Who are you?"
"That doesn't matter! How about this; you repeat the evil monologue, and I'll grade it- how does that sound?"
