"How about this; you repeat the evil monologue, and I'll grade it- how does that sound?" Elijah suggested, excitement oozing off of him so thick it was almost tangible.

"Sh-sure?" The dwarf said hesitantly. "Um, I, I have been working for twenty years-" he started but was cut off by Elijah's commentary, "no, no, you sound too subdued, you're supposed to be letting loose! Finally revealing the grand scheme you prepared! The stress, the waiting, finally surpassed! And you have to start with the evil laugh! You did laugh first right?"

"I..." The sorcerer paused and remembered. "I did, yeah!" He then tried repeating the laugh with resounding success, going through the motions too as he clutched his stomach as though he couldn't breathe from how hilarious he found it. He seemed to have gained confidence as he continued "congratulations, princess! You've revealed me before all these people. And what then?" he smirked derisively, "you think that will stop me? Twenty, years. FOR EIGHTY YEARS! I'VE SERVED IN THIS COURT! AND FOR WHAT!? I've been planning this for so long. I DESERVE that throne, IT SHOULD BE MINE BY BIRTHRIGHT. And you can't even grasp how deep my plans really go. I've gained POWER beyond what you can even fathom for or this very purpose-reclaiming what's mine. I'M THE ELDEST. You think such a trivial thing like them knowing my plans will be enough to stop me? ...Why I poisoned the king?" He laughed again, "do you have any idea how much I hate my brother? He was so perfect, so right in everything he did, and I was, of course, the 'problem child'. Nothing I did was ever enough!"

Lapiese was about to speak up, starting "that's still-" "shhhhh, he's getting to the best part!" Elijah silenced her and whispered over.

Lapiese looked at him, not knowing wether to be offended, incredulous, embarrassed or confused, so she remained quiet.

"You would never understand, princess Lapiese Conise Runeruby," he answered, his voice dripping with venom, "You- the only child- the oh so perfect princess. Nothing you do will EVER be wrong. Do you know what it's like that your own father ignores you? HATES you? That while you get berated and scolded for EVERYTHING, the 'perfect child' watches on with his insufferable gaze, as though he were looking at an ant! How NO ONE ever stood up for me? Then I had awakened our bloodline, but it still wasn't enough to please father. He told me to work for brother, to be his slave? NO! NEVER! So I waited, slowly poisoning him with negative energy, barely noticeable amounts, but it accumulated over time, until he was on the verge of death. And here we are, princess. with your reckless actions you've doomed the entire council to an early grave." He paused, then said with a mockingly sorrowful voice, "If only you kept your mouth shut and been a good girl for once, and let me quietly take the throne like it was intended, like what was meant to be, then none of the council would've had to die." He adorned a smile, his facial muscles at ease, yet his black orbs of eyes expressed such an unimaginable hatred, it gave Elijah the chills. "But," he added, and his voice turned light and friendly, "I suppose you have given me more sacrifices, so for that I must thank you, Lapiese. Thank you princess," he added spitefully. And with that, the word echoed as he finally finished.

"Wonderful, marvelous!" Elijah clapped, wiping a tear from his eye, and the entire hall turned their heads to him. Elijah's words were sincere, as he had always been a fan of un-vilifying people in movies and the like. He'd have heated discussions with his friends about why the villain was the victim and the heroes were unjustified. It trained his sense of justice and motivated him to think about what he thought was evil. "That was amazing! What a chilling performance! I'd give it a seven out of ten!"

"Not more?" The dwarf sorcerer asked, his face darkening.

"You didn't talk enough about the troubles you went through to set your evil plans in motion, so the listeners didn't understand the pain and stress you went through for the grand scheme- it's supposed to show your dedication, enthusiasm, single-mindedness and pride at not settling for petty revenge, that you strive for more! But! the conviction with which you spoke was flaring. The injustice was felt through your words, and your emotions poured out of you like a true artist! Your make up is immaculate and you look like the perfect bad guy, letting people misunderstand you because you have bigger thoughts in mind."

"It's not makeup," the sorcerer interjected.

"That's beside the point" Elijah walked over and looped an arm around his shoulders, being able to reach the floating figure due to his hight.

"You know what I think?" Elijah asked.

The sorcerer turned his gaze twords Elijah.

"You're not king material; you're so much more- a clairvoyant hero!"

"A what?"

"A clairvoyant hero- you are powerful, full of raw strength and ability. Tell me, how many have you killed?"

"I-uh- no one yet."

"Why? Is it because you can't? Nonsense! you're not a killer, you're a protector to your core. You don't abuse your power because you can tell right from wrong. Being a king is for chumps- you have to spend all your days taking care of whiners and criers and paperwork. I've done paperwork- it's not exciting. You- you are meant for the big life! Adventure! exploring into the lost and discovering that which has yet to be known! Saving the world from the Eldritch and profane! Tell me, how many believed that you were evil at first?"

He thought back and answered "not many."

"Because you aren't! Your powers only look evil because of their color. I'm telling you, if it was white, people would think you're God incarnate coming to spread his holiness. You're good and everyone knows it- the only one who doesn't is you! Just because you're making a mistake doesn't make you evil!"

"You're... You're right, I've made a mistake, how can I reconcile?" The dwarf floated to the ground, the wings and purple energy disappearing, and his eyes returned to a blood red.

"First, to the king!" Elijah pointed up.

"Yes!"

The sorcerer walked quickly (for a dwarf) and Elijah followed behind.

The hall was silent, the people left wondering what they had just witnessed. At some point, Ferwen had ended up next to Lapiese. She asked him, still blankly starting at the door with wide eyes like everyone else in the hall, "how did he do that?"

"That was... I have no words,"he answered. It was truly one of the strangest instances he's experienced in his travels.

Elijah followed the sorcerer, who went through many corridors and hallways, until he reached a very ornate, ruby encrusted door. He hesitated a moment, before knocking.

"Geroldunn," he called, entering the room. Elijah tactfully didn't enter and closed the door to put his ear against.

The sorcerer started with small talk, trying to delay, the king asked why he didn't bring tea this time, and the sorcerer confessed. Then the king told him he knew all along, and when the sorcerer asked why he drank the negative energy, he answered that it was the only first time he received anything from his older brother. Elijah though, understood none of it, as he didn't speak Dwarvish, and when the sorcerer cried Elijah decided that he had enough, but then he heard a sickly voice call "you outside, please enter," so he excitedly obliged.

"Yo ho, how fares thee in such troubled times, my dear sir!" Elijah barged in speaking in an obnoxious English accent.

"You- you heard all of that?" The sorcerer asked hurriedly.

"But of course, I heard your gibberish, but I don't speak the tongue, only read the ink!"

The king chuckled and said "I suppose I have you to thank for all this?"

"All what?" Elijah asked, confused.

The king ignored him and looked twords his brother, who nodded. The king then told the sorcerer to fetch something from his desk drawer.

Geroldunn handed him a large coin, saying "this is an emblem of nobility, take it. It's not like elven or human nobility, but it holds as much sway. Those who hold such a token are protected by the dwarven royal family. It shows a great debt."

And so, Elijah was dismissed.
