Chapter 10: [S1] Ch9: Outside world #1

The next day, it was now the next day. Yesterday, I met a flying TV when I woke up, introducing herself as a system that came from the future. I gave her a name too. Which I call her Rui-chan now. 

Rui-chan said that I'm the only human left in the world. Though, I don't really know what to say about that. I guess I just don't really care. I also fought with a cat which I died for about three times. Finally, I slept last night, and after sleeping, it's now morning.

"Am I really going outside?" I asked. I'm standing in front of the gate. Beyond the gate is the world outside. Beyond the building. Beyond my bed.

[Yui-chan doesn't need to worry about meeting people. After all, Yui-chan is the only human left in the world.] 

"... You're right." I said. "I never once thought about leaving this place before. I liked it here. I've always preferred to be a prisoner inside this place."

[However, you think that you're finally free, right?]

"... Yeah...." 

[And that you can do whatever the hell you want, right?] 

"... Yeah... Say, Rui-chan."

[What does Yui-chan you need?]

"Won't you charge my Railgun?" 

[No.] 

"But, it's not good to leave gadgets with zero percent, you know?" 

[Still no.] 

"Why!? Why won't you just charge it!?"

[The possibility of Yui-chan playing with it is very high.] 

"How many times do I need to tell you that I won't be playing with it!?" 

[I still need to make sure that you won't be playing around with the Railgun.] 

"I promise, I won't." 

[No.] 

"Aren't you a robot? Just read my mind so that you can know that I'm telling the truth! I won't play with it!"

[And that's the very reason why I don't like the idea of lending you that. Your feelings tells me that you will be playing with it either way.] 

"AHHHHHHH!!!!" 

[Don't worry, Yui-chan. There will be a time I'll be allowing you to use it. Though, only in emergencies.] .

"I need self defence."

[Please be patient. As I have just said, I'll let you use it next time]

"And when will that be? I don't wanna carry this thing around if it will just end like a toy since it doesn't work."

[Well, maybe if you met an evolved animal.] 

"Like, that cat?" 

[Yes.] 

"Ok, whatever. Let's just go now!" I said happily. 

I stared at the ground. I stared in front of me. There was a road. I looked at the gate. I hesitated to go step out at first. However, I used all my courage. I finally stepped out. I yeheyed. 

I walked throught the road. There were many cars parked in the middle of the road. Yeah, not in the side, but right in the middle. There were no one inside the cars. I walked even longer, it was so quiet. I couldn't see anyone around.

"... I really am alone..." 

[Does Yui-chan feel lonely?] 

"... Not really, you're here, after all." 

[What if I wasn't here with Yui-chan?] 

"If you weren't here with me?"

[Indeed. I am an AI, I really can't be considered as a live companion. Much more, a human.] 

"Don't scare me like that."

[My apologies. I was just curious about human views.] 

"... Well, I guess I'll just kill myself."

"Why?" 

[There's always hope if you're still alive. Yui-chan shouldn't forget that.]

After a while, something took my attention. It was a poster attached on a building's wall. A poster of a guy who looks like a politician with glasses.

"For a better world... For a better place... For a better community... For a better country... For better technology..."

[Is there something?]

"... Yeah." 

I walked closer to the poster. I stared at the poster for a few more seconds. I touched the poster. I moves my face closer to the poster. I then licked the poster. 

[... Yui chan?]

"I think I fell in love with him." 

[... What?] 

"I have always imagined myself with a prince charming. I want to meet my one true love. The one that will take care of me forever. The one that will care for who I truly am." 

[Yui-chan, I know you're curious about some things but, licking it was unhygienic. Please don't do it next time.]

"He's exactly my type."

[That just sounds so wrong.] 

"What's wrong with it?" 

[No offence but, first of all, he's an old man.] 

"And?" 

[... It doesn't suit you, Yui-chan.] 

"You already know how old I am, right?" 

[Yes.]

"So answer me, how old am I?" 

[Yui-chan recently turned twenty-one yesterday.] 

"Correct, I'm twenty-one. Now, do you think there's still something wrong with it?" 

[Judging by this politician's face, he's at least forty to fifty years old.] 

"Haven't you heard of the saying that, age doesn't matter?" 

[Of course, I've gathered enough information before traveling back to the past.] 

"Then, age doesn't matter. Ahahahaha!" 

[... I wonder what looks so good about this poster?] 

Hearing that, I clicked my tongue. I then ignored Rui-chan and continued admiring the poster. Just how I wished to be able to meet him. 

[Yui-chan.] She called.

"What is it this time?" 

[Didn't you say it yourself that you don't like people who'll judge you? You don't even know him. More importantly, he's a politician. Based on my research about them, most of them use other people for their own needs.] 

"... Right, I wonder what I was doing?" I asked with a low voice. I just realized. I looked away from the poster. I had a neutral expression. "Also, licking it was disgusting." 

[Well said. That is such a fast change of mood.] 

"I'm just always like this." I continued walking away. I then called. "Rui-chan."

[What is it, Yui-chan?]

"I've been wondering for a while, what's your gender? Girl, boy, or perhaps, others?"

[As an AI, I don't have a sex. I am neither. Meaning, I'm just a tool. Though, if Yui-chan is wondering. Yui-chan from the future created me to lean more on imitating a female. Why do you ask?] 

"Nothing, you just sounded like a jealous partner earlier."

[Haha, I see.]
