Chapter 28: Chap 28 – It’s time to start hunting

As soon as lunch was over, Elly and Elysia headed out to go hunting.

They have both stopped in a sparse area of the forest to plan their next move.

Elly is using a map to look for somewhere they haven't been yet. She wants to try to find new prey without getting lost in the woods.

Meanwhile, Elysia is looking through her bag to check what kind of bait she will use.

It looks like she found one. A small white flower with red spots is sticking out of her handbag. The petals are curled upward, and the stem is long enough to wrap around the handle.

With that, they would be able to hunt enough monsters to provide food for their group.

"Why do you think Amanda wouldn't let me tell Albert that she asked him out on a date?" Elly asked out of the blue.

"Maybe she didn't want to see him sad."

"It can't be; I've known Albert since he was a child, and he wouldn't be upset over something so small."

"Well, maybe she had some reason..."

"Hmm, I suppose. But still, why did she do that?"

"I don't know."

"You're not going to answer?"

"Nope, because I have no idea either."

"...Fine, whatever. Let's get back to searching for new prey," Elysia replied.

"Okay."

Elly went back out hunting, but this time she was annoyed.

"I don't understand why that Susan is still hanging around here?!" When Elly spoke, her words carried a whiff of envy.

"I dunno, but could you please give the hunt your full attention?" Elysia admonished Elly.

And all Elly could do was nod in assent.

While she wasn't paying attention, Elysia noticed two people walking towards them from afar. It looked like a man and a woman was coming closer. They seemed familiar somehow.

They wore clothes that were similar to those of the bishops she fought.

"Elly, be careful; there might be lust bishops here," Elysia told her. "We need to watch our backs."

Then suddenly, the woman turned around and called out to them.

"I didn't expect to run into you so soon," the woman said.

She wore a red dress that showed off her pink hair. Her eyes were as dark as night, and her sword had a goat symbol, just like Johann's.

"Oh yeah? And who may we be meeting today?" Elysia responded.

"My name is Gertrude, Sin of Pride."

Her voice was smooth and silky, which gave it a seductive feel.

"A pleasure to meet you. My name is Elysia, and this is Elly."

Gertrude nodded at both of them and continued talking.

"So nice, too bad you're going to die today," she says, and her seductive tone is gone, replaced by a bitter one.

"Huh?! "What are you saying?!" Elysia exclaimed.

Gertrude drew her sword and positioned herself in an offensive stance as she did so.

Then she attacked Elysia, who used her earth magic to defend herself against her assault.

"Wha... Why would you come after me!?"

"Why not? You killed my master Johann, besides, I love killing humans."

As she swung down her sword, the ground shook under her feet, and sparks flew everywhere.

Elysia blocked her attacks with earth magic and dodged away. She quickly formed a defensive barrier to protect herself.

Meanwhile, Elly kept attacking her opponent, but she was unable to land any hits.

"You know, I think it's funny how you call yourself the "head" bishop when all you do is sit in the church and pray for a fallen god. "That's pathetic," Elly teased.

But Gertrude ignored her and focused on fighting Elysia instead.

Despite Gertrude's best efforts to deflect Elysia's blows, the latter often found themselves missing their targets.

"Your defenses aren't imposing, but they will only last so long," Gertrude taunted.

Suddenly, the ground beneath her began to shake again. The tremors grew stronger and more frequent, making it difficult for Gertrude to maintain her balance.

However, Elysia could use earth magic to strengthen her body. As a result, even though the ground underneath her shifted violently from time to time, she remained completely unharmed.

 

"Hahaha! "Even if you block every single one of my strikes, you still cannot defeat me!" Gertrude laughed triumphantly, thinking that she'd managed to get through Elysia's defenses. But then suddenly, a huge boulder appeared right between the two combatants. It slammed directly into Gertrude's stomach and sent her flying back several yards.

"Thanks, Elly," said Elysia to her friend, who had saved her.

"You shouldn't thank me yet."

Gertrude gets up, angry, and says, "It's time to kill you."

Her sword started to give off strong mana.

Elysia looked at the blade, which seemed to be glowing brighter than usual, and asked, "Is there anything special about this sword?"

"Of course! This is the holy weapon of my lord, Johann. "There is no way anyone can beat it."

At that moment, a powerful aura filled the air around Gertrude, causing her eyes to turn red. Her entire body glowed white.

A few seconds later, a large wave of energy rippled across the area, destroying half of the trees behind the girls and sending leaves scattering everywhere.

Elysa immediately took cover behind a tree while Gertrude charged toward her.

"No matter how much power you may have, you are not going to win against me."

Then, Gertrude unleashed a massive slash at Elysia. However, just before she could reach her target...

"...Huh? What's this?"

A woman stopped her attack.

When Elysia first saw her, she recognized her as Reize.
