Chapter 29: Chap 29 – Who is the greatest swordswoman?

When she faced a strong opponent, Reize's pride in being the best swordswoman Albert has ever had was put to the test. She knew very well that the girl standing in front of her wasn't someone to trifle with.

After successfully deflecting Gertrude's attack, Reize immediately went on the offensive.

But Gertrude didn't seem bothered at all.

She quickly regained her composure and launched another strike.

This time, however, Reizer easily blocked the blow.

They continued exchanging blows, neither of them backing down.

Both of them knew that this battle was about deciding who was the best swordswoman. And both were adamant about proving their superiority.

"Go away, Elysia and Elly. I don't want anyone in my way," Reize said as she let the power of his sword go.

"You think I'll let someone out alive today?" Gertrude tried to stop the girls from leaving the battle, but Reize got in her way.

As soon as the two finished speaking, they began attacking one another again.

Their swords clashed repeatedly, creating sparks every time their blades met.

And even though the sound of steel cutting through flesh echoed throughout the forest, nobody dared approach them. Not only would they risk getting injured if they came too close, but there was nothing they could do anyway. They weren't equipped enough to fight off skilled warriors like these two.

Gertrude's attacks seemed more focused than usual, probably because she wanted to finish things up fast.

Her movements became faster and sharper, making her appear almost inhuman. Her eyes glowed red, and her body shimmered with heat waves.

Meanwhile, Reize remained calm despite her adversary's overwhelming speed and strength. Instead of using brute force or relying solely on her skill, she used her intelligence to find weaknesses in Gertrude's defense.

While Gertrude was busy defending herself, Reize managed to land several powerful strikes on her arms, legs, and chest.

However, Gertrude showed no signs of pain, nor did she falter. She kept going without taking any breaks whatsoever.

Even though she was hurt, Gertrude never once slowed down.

That's why Reize decided to end it right now.

"So that's your full power. To be honest, I was hoping for more," Reize said with a sneer.

Gertrude didn't show any signs of anger; in fact, she was calmer than she was before the battle.

"Hmph... "You're not half bad," Gertrude replied with a smirk. "My body has been strengthened by years of training." There are limits to how much damage I can withstand.

Reize was shocked when Gertrude responded calmly. She thought that she'd get some sort of reaction after landing such heavy hits. But instead, Gertrude simply shrugged and smiled.

"This is the first time anyone has made me use this form, so you should feel honored," Gertrude said.

Then she raised both hands high above her head and closed her eyes. The ground shook violently at the sight of her power. It felt as though a small earthquake had just struck the area.

"This is my greatest power," Her sword looked scary, as she said.

It was bigger than Reize expected, easily reaching nearly ten feet long. Its blade gleamed brightly as it sliced through the air, sending shockwaves flying everywhere.

When Gertrude unleashed her ultimate move, Reize knew it wouldn't be easy to defeat her. Even if she somehow managed to dodge the attack completely, its destructive force would still destroy anything around it.

"It's a good thing I got those two to leave on time," Reize thought to herself.

Reize took a more defensive stance this time to study her opponent. She noticed that Gertrude wasn't moving quickly anymore. She had finished strengthening her body.

As a result, Reize moved forward and attacked again. However, Gertrude blocked every one of Reize's blows.

"You must be quite strong," Reize muttered quietly to herself.

Gertrude continued blocking her attacks, but Reize began to notice that the swordswoman was starting to slow down a little more with each strike.

"That form of hers must take a lot of mana," Reize concluded.

Her movements were becoming slower because Gertrude was using up most of her mana.

To win this fight, Reize needed to finish off Gertrude before she ran out of mana.

However, Reize couldn't land another hit without taking a risk. If she missed, there was no guarantee that she could avoid getting killed or seriously injured in return.

And so Reize decided to try something new. She pulled back and changed her fighting style slightly.

"Oh?!" Gertrude exclaimed.

Instead of launching powerful strikes, she used light taps against Gertrude's weapon. As she did this, she kept her distance and didn't come any closer.

"Your swordsmanship is very impressive... but I will not allow you to block my attacks forever," Gertrude smirked.

She swung her sword hard enough to make the ground shake beneath their feet. But instead of dodging, Reize held her ground.

Reize waited for the perfect moment to launch a devastating attack that would end the fight with a single blow.

With a single cry of "Taiyo shinken," Reize slashed with all his sword's might.

The mana cost of Taiyo Shinken is high, limiting its use to once per day for Reize. This is even though the technique allows the user to burn everything it touches.

The fire consumed not only Gertrude but also the surrounding forest.

A sigh of relief escaped Reize's lips as she thought, "If she had survived this, I would have been dead, not an ounce of mana left."
