《Anomaly》: Given to those who have rejected and have been rejected by the Laws.

《Despised by Creation》: Given to those who have been rejected by the Lords of Creation.]

"That sounds pretty bad. Couldn't it have a better name? Who'd want to be 'Despised by Creation' because they didn't want to vanish? That's bullsh*t! Those Lords of Creation could go f*ck off."

Rory looked at the damp dirt around him, realizing that even during his life, a short twenty two year period, he hadn't rarely been as close to nature as he was now.

[You are currently at Level 1. Reaching the maximum level will allow for evolutions. Work hard. :D]

"Are you sentient? If so, can you explain to me what I'm supposed to do for the foreseeable future? How can I even level up when I don't know how?" Rory didn't expect an immediate reply, but he got one.

[This is a message left for the host by (Redacted).

How else do you level up in games? Kill. Do missions assigned by the System. This is the last time we'll talk unless you reach a certain level of strength. Good luck.]

"Kill? Kill what?! With what? The only usable skill I have is Telekinesis... I use it to manipulate objects, right? I could figure out a way to kill things if so."

Though it was dark, it wasn't to the point where Rory couldn't see, so he looked around for any sign of a living creature he could 'test' his ability on.

A glistening slimy trail on the wall led Rory to a snail going about it's business at it's own pace, ignoring it's surroundings. He floated over and stopped a few inches away, looking at it carefully.

"I disliked bugs and critters, but I never went out of my way to kill them either. Sorry for this little guy." Rory activated Telekinesis, and the snail was plucked off the wall and suspended in the air as if by an unseen hand.

The snail tried to move, but because it's shell was held, it couldn't escape. Rory closed his eyes and tried to crush the small creature, but he didn't because a sense of guilt overwhelmed him.

"I didn't want to die, so I did what I did. Why should I cause something to go through the same thing as me? Especially something that hasn't and can't do anything to me..."

Rory needed the XP, but he didn't want to cause this poor snail who probably had done less wrong than humans death. Humans he could justify because they weren't innocent, but this snail probably was.

"Lucky snail! I'll find something else then!" Rory gently placed the snail back on the wall, waiting for it to attach itself before releasing it, moving away before the desire for XP won over his compassion.

[Host has successfully acquired the Title《Merciful》.]

"Shut up! I don't need you to tell me I'm nice. Is there a way to find living creatures? I don't want to spend my time searching in this darkness just to find something I find 'unsuitable' to kill."

Rory was always soft on animals as he felt they were more pure and innocent than humans. That didn't mean he hadn't killed some, just that he regretted it more than the other guy.

Animals didn't mask their emotions and scheme like humans did. If they disliked you, it was apparent. Humans were crafty and wicked, something Rory could attest to firsthand as he had experience both with them and being one.

[Does the host wish to activate the Minimap Function?]

"Why wasn't it activated at the start? Never mind that, I sound ungrateful as heck now... Please activate the Minimap." In a corner of his vision, a square appeared with a blue dot Rory realized was himself.

Countless smaller green and red dots appeared, and for the first time since he had arrived here, he realized it was teeming with life despite how empty it seemed originally.

"Is there a way to narrow down the search for certain things? Like perhaps a centipede or a spider? They kill to survive, so I don't feel too bad killing them."

[Host is encouraged to explore the system's abilities on your own.]

"A no then... Very well. Snails are a no-go. Ants aren't that innocent so they're fair game. System, how big am I? I know for a fact I'm smaller than I'm used to being."

[Would the host like to scan your form? Do note, Appearances are subject to change during evolutions.]

"Please." Rory felt a strange sensation that vanished just as quickly, and a panel appeared displaying a humanoid blur without a defined form, floating just above the ground.

"Well... Maybe it could be worse?" Rory floated forward, using the map to locate critters and insects as he moved past them. It didn't take long for him to find a line of marching ants.

Using his Telekinesis, he imagined a hand forming, and without much hesitation, he slapped down at the ants. A shallow hand shaped print appeared with a few crushed ant corpses mixed in.

[ 0.5 EXP gained.]

[ 0.5 EXP gained.]

"One point five experience? System, what's to stop me from farming ants continously for EXP? It would take a while, but it's not dangerous or risky." Rory wanted to know whether he could continue to kill ants to improve himself.

[When the Host evolves, creatures beneath a certain Soul Value will cease to provide any EXP. Host cannot pool EXP either, at the level limit, Host may choose an evolution path.]

[ 0.5 EXP gained.]

A few more notifications popped up as Rory began to crush as many ants as he saw. He didn't have to wait long for the notification he was waiting for to show itself.

[Host has leveled up!]
