The wolf looked precisely like the one Malcolm hunt that day, and it looked fiercely toward Henry, wanting to pounce and eat him alive!
"What will I do? What will I do?"
Henry had his brother on his shoulder — Henry was younger, but with the increase in his attributes, it was not hard to lift his ten years old brother.
He would have to fight against the wolf, but that would mean defeat, so the best option would be to run, but the wolf would outrun him too.
"Will I die so soon?" Henry thought, but then a sword flew past him, hitting the wolf in the skull, killing it instantly.
It was his father's sword, returned to Malcolm as if it were alive! Malcolm tossed it to kill the wolf when he realized his sons had encountered trouble.
"Thanks, dad," Henry said, and then he ran away.
The feeling of abandoning someone in a fight was one Henry disliked, especially if that person was his father! But, he did not have the strength to help him, and being there would only make the fight harder for his father — as he would have to face the wolves and focus on saving his sons simultaneously.
With the adrenaline pumping in and them being in the middle of the forest, Henry had no idea how to return to his village, so he looked for somewhere else to stay, a safe place.
"Father will find us, or I can try to find the way back to the village after this mess is over," he thought.
Henry walked inside the forest, getting more tired after each step, as he also had to carry his brother around. His eyelids closed for a second, then he opened them again, indicating he was getting too tired to keep moving forward.
But then he saw it, at a distance, a cave! It was not the best place to go, as beasts and other things often lived inside those caves, but it was still safer than outside, especially when it got dark.
"Let's pray for the best," Henry thought, slowly making his way toward the cave.
The cave's entrance was large and dark inside, but Henry could still see it somewhat decently — he guessed that was one of the perks from his first passive skill, the Keen Senses.
Henry found a stone big enough for Joshua to lie on, so he put him there and then looked into the deeper sections of the cave.
He had to make sure there was nothing inside that could harm him or his brother, and to do that, Henry needed to explore the rest of the cave.
It was not a task he enjoyed doing — it was dangerous, and Henry was tired — but he had to, or else they would not have the peace to stay inside, knowing a beast could be lurking in the shadows, waiting for them to fall asleep to tear their bodies apart.
"Someone has to do it," thought Henry as he unsheathed his short sword, moving toward the deeper parts of the cave.
That cave was bigger than he expected, but despite its size, there was nothing weird inside and no clues about a beast living there. If there were something there, there would be bones around the area and some footprints, but Henry did not spot those.
"At least there's nothing inside this cave. Wait," Henry looked ahead to see a strange door built into one of the cave's walls.
"What is this?"
Henry passed his hand on the stone door, removing all the dust accumulated from years. Then, after doing that, the stone door revealed what was beneath the dust: an unknown symbol Henry had never seen before.
"This looks like two wings falling from the sky."
For a split second, Henry thought about returning to the cave's entrance, as he knew there were no beasts inside, but the curiosity inside of him was too much.
What was behind the door? What did that symbol mean? He wanted to go there, and after he placed his hand again on the door, looking for a way to open it, a notification from his system appeared in front of his eyes.

"What? Something similar happened when I came in touch with the meat of a magical beast. Is there something dead inside?"
Henry tried everything he could to open the door, but nothing worked.
"I should return later after I grow up and get stronger."
When he turned around, a voice came from the other side of the door. It was as if whatever was inside spoke directly into Henry's mind.
"Do you want power? I can promise you that if you promise to avenge my race!"
It was enticing, and Henry found no reason to return and see what this being wanted.
What did he have to lose? He died once already, and if Henry wanted to get stronger, there would be risks that he was sure of.
So, when he tried to push the door again, it opened. A small room was on the other side of the door, with a creature wrapped in chains, with spikes pierced through its legs, arms, and torso.
Henry could not believe something would be alive after going through all that, but he could sense the creature was in its final breath.
As for the creature, it looked like a man with long silver hair and pale skin — presumably from the amount of blood it lost.
But the most incredible thing about that creature was the two wings behind its back, black like that of a crow, yet similar to that of an angel.
"Something similar to angels exists in this world? Well, it makes sense considering there is something called Holy Magic, and the creature that sent me here looked like some god," thought Henry.
"Who are you?"
The system had told Henry that the creature in front of him would grant him experience, but there was no way he would eat something similar to a human.
"I am Malaziel," the man said, looking straight toward Henry.
"What are you? An angel?"
"Angel? What is that? I don't know what people are calling us, but back in my time, I was a Nephilim."
"Nephilim?"
That was a weird situation and a weird encounter. Henry wondered for a moment if that god who brought him and his father to that world was pulling some strings behind the curtains.
"We are the creators of the Holy Magic, and we passed it down to the humans, only for them to attack us. I-I don't know what happened to the rest of my kind or my city, but they could be dead, just like I am."
"The creators of the Holy Magic?"
"Kid, there is not much time, as I am in my final breaths. You coming here is fate, and I hope you can use my power to someday learn about what happened to my people. Now, take it, and make good use of it. I will give you my wings and my talent, yet I cannot give you my memories. To learn more, you will have to do your research."
Henry could not understand what was happening, but then Malaziel's body shifted, turning into a ball of light, going straight into Henry's body.
Pain stroked his body, especially on his back, where two black wings grew, ripping his skin off! These wings looked precisely like the one Malaziel had, but they were smaller — Henry was a kid, after all.
His eyes shone in golden light for a brief moment, and then the pain stopped, and Henry passed out.
