The two sat in the carriage with neither saying anything. Even after fifteen minutes, the scenery still hadn’t changed.

There were only trees and fields of grass.

Aurora thought of the Corrupted Region, the place she almost died after coming to the Rizar mansion.

She was able to find out more information about the beasts that lives there and how the place she entered was only part of the outer layer.

The Corrupted Region lies just behind Elran City and has eroded most of the north and east of the Emperia Empire. But it wasn’t only this Empire that was troubled by the erosion. The border of the region expanded through the Tamriel Empire to the Caeinuut Tribes.

Only the Neutral Kingdoms was said to have escaped this disaster.

But there was no such place as the Neutral Kingdoms or the Caeinuut Tribes from her memories. The world that used to have three Empires, now have two. And there were no records of the missing Kingdom in any of the books. Just like her, it never existed.

Could this world be…different from the world she came from? With everything she’s experienced so far, she couldn't completely deny this.

Aurora was about to ask Lucius for more information, when her eyes opened wide in great alarm.

WOOSH!

A swift gust of wind suddenly tore through the carriage's curtain. Before she could react, an arm reached from behind her and pulled her back.

Nestled in the Duke’s chest, she didn’t dare to move a muscle. With no skill in martial arts, she’d lose her life if she wasn’t careful. And her mana shield wasn’t strong enough to block physical attacks.

Aurora sighed in relief thinking she safely survive a life-threatening ordeal.

But she then heard a groan coming from her side. When she turned her head, she saw that Lucius' hand had been pierced through with the arrow. A large flow of blood was coming from the wound, but what was scarier was how rapidly the wound was turning black.

The blackness quickly spread down his hand, up his arm. His face frighteningly turned pale, his lips changing from blue to purple.

Poison!

Aurora gasped when came to. “Watch out!” She quickly stretched her arm out in front of Lucius and pushed him to lean back. The arrow from her foresight moved past them and dung itself in the ground outside. The carriage outside stopped moving.

“Oh?” Lucius said in a low tone. He didn’t panic at all, and rather than worrying about the arrow aimed at him, he was more interested in what she just did. “As I thought, you have the ability to see the future.”

“That’s…” Before Aurora started explaining herself, Lucius continued with his theory.

“While it’s a nice ability, it seems you can only see a few seconds in the future. And it can only be activated under certain conditions. It can be useful, but it isn’t an ability you can count on all the time.”

Haha, that means he saw through her right from the beginning.

"You can make full use of your foresight if you learned some form of martial arts. Being able to see your opponent’s movements before it happens will give you a huge advantage.” Lucius didn’t stop. “You said you died when you were thirty years old, however, your status shows that you’re only 15. Does that mean you’ll go through another awakening again?”

...That’s what she wants to know!

Aurora observed Lucius who was in deep thought. He had an inquisitive side to him. This was the first time she saw him being so chatty. “Shouldn’t we try to search for the perpetrator?”

When she asked him this, Lucius looked at the arrow on the ground. When he saw the grass in that area turned black and turn into ashes, he narrowed his eyes. “No need. They’ve already long escaped.”

“Can the coachman be on this?” Aurora glared toward the front. Although she couldn’t see him, she thought it was weird how he didn’t scream in terror. The coachman was an elderly man who looked normal in every aspect. It was very strange that he didn’t show any sign of fear or concern for the Duke.

“No. He’s someone my Mother took in when she was young. He doesn’t bother about the Rizar’s internal affair.”

Lucius stepped out the carriage and squatted in front of the arrow. He took a red handkerchief from his pocket and carefully picked the arrow up. He came back to the carriage and sat by her side after telling the coachman to continue.

This poison, there was only one place that produces this kind of poison. It was lethal and would cause a person’s death in three days. While Lucius can use his mana to purge the poison out of him, even he wouldn't come out of it unharmed.

A figure wearing dark clothes was running through the forest without looking back. As soon he realized his plan had failed, he escaped. When he found out that his target left his home, he hid on top of a tree on the path he was sure they’d take on their trip the inner part of the City. He figured he'd take this chance to kill his target and return home.

He stopped when he was sure no one was following him and sat next to a tree while panting.

“Hopefully, he didn’t realize my identity. I was confident in being able to kill him, so I didn’t bother concealing the poison.” He lowered his head in resignation. “Ah really, this sucks.”

Even if Duke Rizar figures out who he is, there wasn't anything he could do. Even though it was his Master who made a move first, for someone who was so loyal to the Emperor and the rules of the Empire, he wouldn't go kill one of the Dukes from the four pillars.

That's right.

The four Dukes were forbidden from killing each other. This was to prevent the collapse of the Empire and was the highest decree order given by the first Emperor.
