Seeing Aurora calmly accept his challenge made Christopher’s heart feel weird.
Isn't she just another weak woman relying on a male? He’ll see how long she can keep acting.
“Of course not. But, when it comes to martial arts, as they say, fists do not have eyes. While in this case, it’s arrows. What if I mistakenly injure you or, at worst, kill you? Who knows what will happen to me afterward?”
Obviously, Christopher was trying to get her to back down in fear. While he looked down on her, the person backing her is on another level. Lucius Rizar will surely kill him and eliminate his entire family.
Aurora’s lips lifted into a smirk. “With your so-called number two rank, you will surely be able to hit the apple. But for your peace of mind, let all the Knights here be witness to my words. Whether injured or dead, let there be no consequences. A life and death agreement, do you dare?”
Cristopher found himself shocked, speechless for a moment. “Ha! Why do I not dare?!”
Keegan shook his head. He knew Christopher very well. Prideful and impulsive. Two characteristics, that when together, did not make a good match.
While Keegan wasn’t worried, Bea felt like fainting. “Shouldn’t we stop this?!”
Keegan glanced at her. “Are you worried that our Lady will get hurt? If so, don’t be. Rather, I doubt his arrow will even pass the 20-yard mark.”
“Um, what?” Bea was confused. “Isn’t he an amazing archer, while our Lady has only started a little close to a month?”
“Well, just watch.”
Christopher cleared his throat. “Then, I will change the rules a little. We will both get three arrows each round to shoot the apple on top of our heads.” He pointed at the basket filled with apples which one of the Knights prepared for them. “The first person who hits the apple wins. If we both miss, we’ll both shoot again until either of us hits it. The same if we both end up hitting the apple during the first round. Alright?”
Aurora nodded her head.
Placing the apple on top of her head, she stood there with her back straight. Even though her stature was petite, it was as if nothing could reach her.
Seeing her feet, firmly placed on the ground without a single ounce of fear, Christopher was in disbelief.
He heard rumors about how the Duke of Rizar held a casual attitude towards women and did not treat anyone special. Christopher had long admired Lucius Rizar due to his noble figure of putting his responsibilities as the Duke over relationships. Like his father, he thought the Duke was also a man who used women to satisfy his needs.
Then he learned about how he suddenly took in his distant cousin from a poor Baron family as his fiancée due to falling in love at first sight. Christopher was disappointed. He believed that the Duke would one day marry someone who matched his status and power.
That’s why he thought he would only teach her lesson today.
Who knew things would get so out of control and she would accept his challenge?
Did he dare?
Even if he had the guts to, what about later? Let's say he dared to shot at Aurora and injure or kill her, then what? Even with the life and death agreement, will the Monster of the North keep to that agreement and spare him?
Christopher Walen realized his mistake too late.
But it was too late to regret. As a Knight, as a Noble, how can he withdraw when a woman herself did not fear death? He would be the one to lose all face for both him and his family.
“She must be frightened out her wits but is forcefully keeping herself calm.” One Knight smiled as he said this.
“Who knows, she might even end up fainting once the arrow is close to reaching her.” Another said while laughing.
While they weren’t exactly right, they weren’t exactly wrong as well. Instead, it was the person they had wrong.

The other seven Knights looked on calmly. After seeing the intensive training the Lady went through over the past month and the will to keep pushing herself, they knew just how much progress she made. Besides them, many others also know this.
Christopher picked up his bow and faced Aurora with his forehead filled with cold sweat. Aurora, however, stood there quietly as the wind that rustled her clothes. With her hair tied back, she gave off the image of a dazzling warrior who had long experienced the life and death found on a battlefield.
Christopher slowly pulled the bow, thinking that she might soon beg for mercy after being faced with an arrow in her direction. He’d then take that opportunity to get himself out of this dilemma and humiliate her at the same time while scolding her lack of courage.
Unfortunately, his wishes were left unfulfilled. Aurora had on a calm expression as if he was not worth her attention.
His hands started trembling, and the 50 meters distance that was normally an easy feat for him became exceptionally difficult.
Aurora’s words lingered by his ears, “A life and death agreement, do you dare?”
Do you dare?
With a ‘shuuu’ sound, the arrow streaked across fiercely, but it only stayed in the air for a while before falling off. Just as Keegan said earlier, it barely reached the 20 meters mark before falling to the ground.
The crowd was stunned silent.

“HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”
The entire area soon filled with laughter as the seven Knights joked about Christopher's grand display of arrogance just a few minutes ago. The others from the Aristocrat Faction, along with Christopher, could only watch on with anger.
“Hey, newbie, weren’t you a genius archer?!”
“I think he’s nervous since his target is such a beauty!”
Christopher ignored them and took a deep breath. He wiped the sweat on his forehead and immediately started to pull the bow again.
While the second arrow was better, it only landed at the space in front of her.
The third and last arrow landed at her feet.
It was then his hands loosened, and he dropped the bow he was holding on to. When the audience saw his pale face, everyone realized what was going on.
He was afraid. Not of Aurora, but of the man she was to one day marry.
But this time, not a single Knight laughed or taunted him. After all, they were very clear about the pressure behind the name Lucius Rizar.
Aurora, who stood still without a single change of expression from beginning to end, smiled lightly.
“Now, is it my turn?”
If one looked closely, they would see the trace of ruthlessness that flashed in her eyes. While the other Knights were oblivious to this fact, Keegan saw it clearly.
“Really, those two are made for each other.” He mumbled as he looked toward the second floor of the mansion where the Duke stood at the window and watched everything that transpired.
