The question ‘Now, is it my turn?’ was said casually by Aurora but had an unfathomable chill in them.
“Do you think she will hit the target?” Bea asked, a little concerned. If their Lady missed this round, then it meant Christopher would get another chance.
Keegan grinned. “Do you not trust her skills?”
Bea clenched both her fists and raised them. “I do!”
From morning to evening every single day, the two had stuck closely to her. More than anyone there, they witnessed firsthand how hard she worked and how much talent and potential she held.
Keegan patted her head. “Then just watch.”
Christopher thought about how Aurora might purposely hit him in retaliation for his comments towards him. Then he remembered what the female Knight Beatrice said about her only being able to hit target 30 meters away just recently.
Even if she wants to kill, does she have the ability to? And just a little girl like her, would she dare to murder in broad daylight?
Pondering over this, Christopher calmed himself down and walked towards the spot Aurora had just stood earlier. He straightened his shoulder and put on a broad smile, thinking there was no way for her to reach him.
Aurora lifted her hands, arranged the arrow, positioned herself in the proper stance, and pulled the bow apart all at the same time. She did this so smoothly as if she had practiced these movements thousands of times. It made others think that she was already a master archer.
Christopher gulped with nervousness, his saliva going down his throat.
In the next moment, the arrow left the bow and headed towards Christopher. The crisp sound of the bowstring could be heard very clearly.
Christopher flinched when he noticed how the arrow headed straight towards him. He wanted to move out of the way, but he could not react in time when it flew right by his cheek.
While it didn’t hit him or even scratch him, by the time the arrow implanted itself in the ground, Christopher had fallen to the ground.
No one said anything. Not a single Knight laughed or teased Christopher. Instead, they were awed by Aurora’s skills with the bow and mesmerized by her graceful stance as she pulled it.
“Stand up.” She said in a voice devoid of emotion. “I still have two more chances.”
Christopher's jaw quivered with anger. He was furious, but he didn't have the nerve to fight against her. He picked up the fallen apple and stood back up, placing it on his head.
The second arrow hit right next to his feet, just like how he did earlier. Seeing this, Christopher smirked and thought about how the first one was probably just luck. His friends also had the same thought when they saw her miss by a large margin.
But Keegan thought about his hometown when he saw this. It resembled the way the warriors hunted their prey. The first arrow drove fear in their target. While the second arrow made them relieved, dropping their guard. And then the last arrow…
It was just like how a cat chased after its next lunch, toying with it.
“Last.”
At that moment, no one noticed the hazy gaze in her eyes just before she released the third arrow.
Her hand slightly trembled, as pure malice ran through her body, to the tip of her fingers.
'She wants to kill him.'
Several people there noticed this, but no one there understood her reason for wanting to besides one.
Lucius looked at her calm expression and noted that she was nothing but calm. Through her connection with him as a familiar, he felt the complicated emotions rolling off of her. He could faintly discern the reason for her hatred towards this person she just met today.
It probably reminded her of someone she didn't wanted to be reminded of.
Aurora's hand flinched. She could feel an emotion that did not belong to her.
Worry.
When Aurora realized who this emotion came from, she was able to calm herself. Aurora knew if she didn't, her arrow would not hit her target.
Her hand loosened, and the arrow projected forward as the sharp killing intent charged towards Christopher’s forehead. It frightened him so much that he ended up passing out, falling face forward, before seeing the results himself.

Everyone there, including two pairs of eyes from the second floor of the mansion, looked at the rolling fruit on the ground. The last arrow had shot through the apple, making a hole in the middle.
Aurora smiled and looked at the Knight on the ground, who was pretending to be unconscious. “You lost.”
Christopher stiffened but refused to move, lest he gave himself away.
Aurora relaxed her stance, only to be ambushed by an excited bunny who hopped into her arms.
“Kyaaaa, you're so cool, my Lady!!” Bea wrapped her arms around Aurora’s neck and put her head on her shoulder. “If you were a man, I’d marry you!”
Aurora just nodded her head indifferently as though it had nothing to do with her. She pushed Bea off her, but the slight blush on the tip of her ears betrayed her true feelings.
Bea giggled at this. Today, she realized her new master, while quite mischievous, was bashful as well.
“Wait a sec…”
The voice of a Knight came from behind her. When Aurora turned to see, she saw that the Knights had gathered together, with the one who wanted to hit Bea earlier in the lead.
“There’s no way someone who just started archery can be so accurate. Tell the truth. You used a wind rune or something, right?”
At least five Knights agreed with this, complaining about how she cheated while the rest scoffed at this idea.
"Are you an idiot? This ain't a written exam? How can she cheat?"
"What?!" That Knight stepped towards the one who said that. "Who are you calling an idiot?! She could have hidden a wind rune and used it to help her arrow reach that far!!"
"That's right! That's right!"
Aurora’s eyebrows furrowed as she heard them. Seeing how childish these Knights were, she imprinted their faces into her memories. People like these were useless. It was not her first time seeing such arrogant Knights with noble backgrounds.
Those Knights fell under the ‘Aristocrat Faction’ that used their connections to pass their Knighthood. While some had skills, they were arrogant, impulsive, and conceited about their worth.
She knew that not all the Rizar Knights are like this, but still, Aurora was disappointed. She thought Lucius Rizar knew better than to rely on such people to protect the Dukedom.
“That’s impossible.” Keegan stepped forward.
“That’s right, you’re wrong!! My Lady doesn’t need to cheat! You a**, get your story straight!!” Bea scoffed. "F**king jerk....!!!" Keegan covered her mouth once again to get her to shut up.
“Hah?” The Knight who first blamed Aurora for using a rune stood straight in front of Bea. Because of the height difference, it was as if watching a cat go against a tiger.
One of the older Knights who took a neutral stance spoke up for the first time. Cassis usually did not like to get involved in such things, but seeing His Grace bring home a Lady for the first time, he couldn't just sit back say nothing. "Keegan is right."
"What?! Cassis, are you taking this woman's side?!"
Cassis sighed. "Listen Garrick, just using a wind rune won't help her hit the target. Instead, it'll make her trajectory completely off. Archery isn't just about speed. You need accuracy, balance, and precision in strength. There is no way to do that with only one or two runes."
"But...!!"
"That's not all." Keegan placed his hand on Bea’s shoulder and moved in front of her. He nodded his head at Cassis. “Did you know that Lady Aurora is very proficient in knife throwing?”
Garrick's eyebrows twitched. “So, what?”
“Knife throwing uses 10% strength, 20% balance, and 80% accuracy. Only those with confidence in their ability can use that skill. You should be aware of how she killed two people the day she was kidnapped, including her kidnapper, right? The reason she was able to beat Christopher has nothing to do with internal assistance.”
The Knight and all the others who agreed with him didn’t say anything in return.
Garrick clicked his tongue and left, while the others also followed with their tails tucked behind them.
