The party cleared out the rest of the monsters in the eyrie which netted them a good amount of drops as well as another tamed monster a medislime to be specific. the creature had a bulbous top that was a dull yellow color and the same weird face that all slimes had. under this hung six bright blue tentacles that it used to attack as well as for healing magics. yes the entire reason alastair accepted the slimes service was because of its useful knack at healing magic. medislime were well known for their habit of healing other monsters or as alastair hopes people.
Even after clearing out the eyrie alastair noticed that the amount of exp he got was little more than a cup of water in the pool he needed to level up again. he figured this might have been something he would need to face eventually but hoped it would only be later. the moon had already replaced the sun by the time the party finished clearing the eyrie so they found a campsite and settled in for the night. the next morning the party headed back to the academy since there were a few quest there to complete.
The quest had them running around for a couple of hours but were otherwise very simple to complete. after finishing everything at the academy the party headed to phnom nohm which was the nearby town to the east. the trip there only took a day during which alastair used his magic to create an umbrella of of ice for each of the party since it had started raining early into the trip. they passed through a small forest as well as the swamp that the town was built in the rocky hillside in the middle of.
The town was build in a chinese pagoda type style with arched red tiled rooves and smooth black painted pillars both for support as well as decoration. the party was lucky that there was a desperate business owner who offered them a free night in his wifes inn for them to spread the word of its quality. they obviously agreed immediately since no matter what it was a good deal and so they settled in at this inn which surprisingly had really comfortable beds. so comfortable in fact that the two girls didn't try to do their nightly draining of alastair but rather just cuddle before drifting into sleep.
The entire party woke up late the following morning since they were just too comfortable to will themselves up. eventually the party managed to pry themselves from the beds temptations and search the town for supplies as well as sell off the ridiculous amount of drops they had. it was funny actually since the party was carrying around a fairly sizable fortune in alastairs bag , so much in fact that they could at this moment pay to have a small town built. after party the shopkeepers from their money the party looked for clues to any orb.
While searching for clues to an orb the party came across a little girl who had apparently lost her family. the events followed the game after that with the party not finding any signs of the girls family. even after searching the nearby ruins the party didn't find anyone who fit the bill though they did notice a certain key depicted on the ruins mural. they got chased out of the ruins by a group of superstitious wealth hunters but they didn't say anything as they spent the night at the inn again.
The next morning they learned that the wealth hunter group had vanished after entering the ruins which was suspicious. the party decided to check the ruins for the group and ended up learning about how the mural was cursed and ate people in order to brighten its with colors. while in the realm of the painting alastair managed to kill three liquid metal slimes that lived there netting him a hefty chunk of exp as well as a new tamed monster in a hypothermion which was a seven foot tall demon creature with three eyes and purple skin.
Shortly after finding the group of wealth hunters the party escaped through a crack on the mural and found themselves in the real world again. the party confronted the little girl dora who was apparently the manifestation of the spirt of the mural who lured good natured or greedy people to the mural were it devours them for their color. the spirit challenged them to a fight in her realm which the party bravely ran head first into. the trip through the realm took a few hours because of its complexity but after that the party or rather alastair manhandled dora in grey earning a hint about mordegan and the magic key.
The party left the mural realm where they found the wealth hunters sprawled out weak but still alive. the party then got the hunters to safety before they discussed what they learned from the mural about the dark one. they learned about doors scattered across the land that had the same symbol as the magic key including one such door located in the ruins of zwardrust. with a teleport from alastair and a quick search the party obtained the fifth orb of of six leaving only the one held by the royal family of sniffleheim.
