“However, we noticed that once Naoki and Yuki were out of your vicinity, you’ll start acting up like screaming, etc. That’s one of the reasons I instructed you the other day. Of course, they knew it as well. We even tried various types of comfort objects, that could ease you. But, none of them worked. And in the end, we have no choice but to let you three stick together.”
What...?
How come?
“However, since there’s no progress in your condition for almost a year. I suggested something to your parents. The one that made you like this, the sole reason why you don’t remember them. I deeply apologize for that once again, Naoki and Yuki-sama.” Izumi-sensei bowed.
“It’s okay, Izumi-sensei. Yuki and I have forgiven you a long time ago, so there’s no need to fuss over that. We’re actually grateful to you for what you did, even if the cost was being forgotten by the person you love. But, if it’s for the better then we don’t mind.”
“Indeed, because of what you did Izumi-sensei. I was able to see the old lively Tatsu. You have my gratitude, thank you.” Yuki added.
“I’m flattered... But, I too have someone whom I love dearly. I can’t imagine the pain you suffered after that, I’m sorry.”
“Yes, getting separated from Tatsu for a year was unbearable. But, it’s fine since we’re able to reunite with him,” Ending her sentence, with a bitter smile on her face.
“I guess, I owe Tatsuya an apology too. I’m sorry, Tatsuya.”
It made my eyes wide; I replied awkwardly. “Eh? I don’t even know anything that happened.”
“Hypnotherapy.”
“..."
“The thing you asked me about a long time ago, but I rejected it. Remember?”
“Y-Yes, I asked you that one time because I’m curious... Was that the cause...?”
“Yes, I reject that idea of yours because of the incident that occurred to you in one of our sessions. The purpose of that was to eventually make you remember the lost memories and alter the terrible memories, but an accident occurred during the process. Instead of altering, it totally removed all the traumatic memories inside your head. To be honest, it’s a complex thing to talk about since til to this day, I don’t have any concrete conclusion for it. Basically, what happened was your brain switched memories.”
“Switched?”
“That’s my hypothesis. I hypothesize as to why you’re attached to them because of the sense of responsibility that your brain implemented, like a mother of cubs with its overprotectiveness not letting them get out of her sight. Quite a troublesome brain you have, Tatsuya.”
“Eh? Sorry?” I’m bamboozled right now.
“The first step of our hypnosis was trying to calm you down while replacing the raw memories and gradually alter them. At first, we’re making some progress with it. Then next, we’re now on the unveiling of your hidden memories, which is the sole reason why your parents agreed with it.”
“During our session, you’re supposed to be awake after like an hour. But, you stayed like for a day. I’m not going into a more detailed explanation, but in the end, what happened was unexpectedly you remembered your parents except for Naoki and Yuki-sama alongside anything related to them, everything.”
I held my chin and said. “I thought so... Then why didn’t you just do it again?”
Izumi-sensei narrowed her eyes at me. “You just went into a major unexpected development, and you think we would do it again?”
After that, suddenly someone pinched me by my side. I shifted my gaze on who pinched me and saw Yu-chan giving me a sharp glare. At that point, I don’t know what I did wrong for her to give me that look. There’s nothing wrong with doing it again since it worked the first time. A follow-up came on the other side. It was Naoki who was gripping my arm hard.
“What? If that thing worked, why wouldn’t it work the second time?”
“Do you have any idea how insane you sound, right now? I can’t believe you’re this oblivious and dense, Tatsuya.” Izumi-sensei said in disappointment while rubbing her temple.
“Oh...! I still don’t get it. But, why didn’t Naoki and Yu-chan stayed? I mean, why do they need to be separated?”
“First of all, after you have woken up, the situation changed instead of Naoki and Yuki, it got replaced by your family. Next, the reason. I said that because your condition is in a good shape, your mutism disappeared, you can communicate with other people fine, but you needed to hide your eyes. All in all, it’s one of the great improvements in your progress.”
Her explanation only made me confused more. If things are well, why do Naoki and Yu-chan needed to be separated from me then? It doesn’t make any sense at all. Suddenly, I feel jittery.
“I tried experimenting with your condition, by separating you three. As I said earlier, it’s correlated with your protectiveness over the two, the sense of responsibility or obligation.”
I think I’m getting what Izumi-sensei was trying to say now.
“Because there’s a possibility of reverting to my old condition? Like, my mutism and sense of security?”
“Correct. Honestly, I had a hard time convincing the two and Koichiro-sama.”
“That means, they’re still here like a month or so?”
“No, only weeks.”
“Huh? Then why didn’t I remember them that time?”
“Now, this is where it gets complicated. Perhaps because you're still in a trance-like state.”
“I see... Is that all?”
“Pretty much.”
“About what happened to me...”
“Sorry, but it’s better for you not to remember all of it first. I don’t know what implications it will bring you.” Answering me with a firm resolute tone, indicating that it's better for me not to know anything. The same look can be seen from Naoki and Yuki. I decided not to probe into that matter anymore.
“Ah, I see...”
Izumi-sensei was right. Right now, I have no recollection of anything related to my incident except for the part I had dreamed of last night. Moreover, all the information I just got is still processing in my head. It will only add more confusion to my head. After giving a thought to it, I asked a question Izumi-sensei.

“What are the plans right now? You’ll just let my memories come back to me naturally?”
“Indeed. That’s the only sensible thing to do right now.”
“What about hypnosis?”
“Haa... Tatsuya, I can’t. I can’t risk anything when you’re in a good state now.”
“I see...”
“Now, let’s test your eyes. Keep looking at me, okay?”
“Ah, what?”
“Naoki and Yuki-sama can you go out of my office for a second? I want to test something. I’ll just call you guys later.”
Naoki and Yuki nodded in agreement. The two stood up and went out of the door. I heard the door closed, but I kept my gaze on Izumi-sensei. She’s testing me if I will have my panic attacks. I said on the phone that I experienced a sharp pain in my brain when Naoki left me in the dressing room.
After leaving us here, Izumi-sensei picked up her glasses and wore them again. Then she intensely looked at me in the eyes. When I saw that, I was expecting a headache, however; I felt nothing, but it’s an uncomfortable feeling. After a while, Izumi-sense loosened her expression and leisurely sat back.
“You’re pretty confused this whole week. Right, Tatsuya?”
“Hahaha, yeah...” I chuckled.
“I have something to tell you.”
“Yes?”
“It’s related to your brain.”
“Yeah?”
“Because your brain is unique. Are you familiar with human adaptability?”
“Anthropology?”
“Yeah, humans have lived more than thousands of years, and as to why we’re not extinct yet because of our ability to adapt to the environment. We evolve as the world goes on.”
“How is that related to my brain?”
“Forget it, it’s just some random thoughts of mine. Just remember, you're case is very unique.” Izumi-sensei smiled softly. With that look on her face, I'm certain she's hinting me something. However, there's nothing in my head, right now. It's preoccupied with a lot of things.
Unique case...
Then she continued. “Anyway, I’m using a timer so if you feel anything just tell me, okay?”
I nodded in response.
“So how are things in school?” With the sudden question, I got surprised.
“Uh, it’s pretty good I’ve met some incredible people and some weird ones.”
“That’s good to hear. Are you having fun?”
“Yeah, hahaha.” I chuckled.
“That’s nice to see. Your parents and sister are begging me to disapprove you of going to school—”
“Sensei, my parents were partially responsible for why you separated the three of us, right?”
I always have these thoughts in my head since before. Perhaps I’m overthinking things, but for this one, I decided to ask Izumi-sensei.
“...” Izumi-sensei only stared at me.
“I’ve always had a feeling when you explained it to me...” I clasped both of my hands.
Izumi-sensei inhaled and said, “Haa... Indeed, it’s one reason... They don’t want to associate you with them, anymore... From what I remember, they plan to move you out of the country this year and live overseas.”
Moving overseas, huh…? I understand their sentiments…
“Thank you.” I smiled.
“Why are you thanking me?”
“For letting me go to school and meet them, I’m grateful for it. I don’t know if I guess is correct, but you deliberately let them meet me now, right?”
Instead of answering, Izumi-sensei smiled in response. Upon seeing that smile, I suppose my conjecture was right. I responded with a smile on my face.
