Everyone was given new black clothing to wear that day. The eldest son of the plantation had been announced to have been killed though nothing was stated as to whom it may have been.
The crowd of slaves sat tightly packed together like sardines in front of the huge building where Mr. Iden, Rowan, and Nava stood with the house servants with their heads all bowed.
"Today we are here to speak for the eldest brother of the house while Rowan and Nava's parents are out." Mr. Iden announced.
"Mr. Iden, where is the body?" Declan asked.
"Just because you are cabin leader doesn't mean you can decide to speak up!"
Mr. Iden's voice boomed, scaring the others. Declan's tired face was not even shocked. Viaan couldn't keep focused on anything that day.
"The bible says all good slaves follow their master and today he will be graced by knowing slaves were at least good to their master and did his or her daily chores. I can not tell you how much he valued your hard work though."
Mr. Iden kept rambling on and off. Viaan started to doze off without thinking much about why he had to hear these people talk about someone who literally is slaving a bunch of children because it was most likely easier to bait and snatch them.
"Viaan…wake up," Gio begged.
He was knocking against Viaan's leg before quieting again. Viaan's head felt so heavy at the crack of dawn attending this useless funeral as the words garbled in his ears. Declan became worried watching the new member acting up.
The loud sobbing didn't deter Viaan from bowing his head further down not to be seen. Rowan rolled his eyes at Declan bringing his cabin mates to their feet. He dealt usually with the youngest of the children that came in from outside.
THUMP!
Viaan fell over pushing people in front of him bowling them over in front of Iden's feet. He became instantly angry. Declan swiftly grabbed him up by the shoulder lifting him to his feet.
"DECLAN!" Mr. Iden shouted.
"I am so sorry Mr. Iden…"
He became flustered while Viaan became instantly more aware. The crowd around made a messy half circle. His black shirt and pants were covered in the dirt from the ground.
Iden stomped his feet in rage causing his stomach to jiggle. Viaan wanted to laugh watching the man who is meant to be his master.
"Go back to your dwellings! Both of you!" Iden scolded.
"Whatever…I don't even know who this is!" Viaan spouted.
"We are your bread and butter! How dare you speak that way to your masters!" Mr. Iden screeched.
Viaan had already started back to the hut. Declan was in disbelief at how Viaan was acting only to get down on his knees in front of Mr. Iden taking his hand leaning downwards.
"Forgive him please...he is just a child." Declan declared.
"Go now…I will be there later!" Mr. Iden shouted.
Punting Declan in the face. A dribble of blood drained down his face. He said no more getting up and walking back to find Viaan laying on his side.
"Viaan, how can you act so casually?" Declan asked.
"I don't care what happens anymore." Viaan waved.
"Were going to be punished," Declan stated.
"Then I am prepared to take it…"
Declan had no idea what to say to help Viaan understand the new circumstance in front of his eyes. A light sigh he would give off before settling on the bed beside him.
DING-DONG! DING-DONG!
Loud bells sound out. Viaan doesn't respond or even nods back. The two are just together mute awaiting their fate.

"I hate it here…" Viaan mumbled.
"But this is life now."
DING-DONG! DING-DONG!
"Then kill me because this is no life…"
Viaan sat up gawking down at the thin sheets on the bed. Declan placed his hand on top of Viaan who pushed him away.
"There are the trouble makers!" Mr. Iden stated.
"Viaan and Declan please come with us."
Two men dressed in full black outfits came in with frowns on their bearded faces. Declan was snatched by the wrist of Iden dragging him out first.
"Come, Viaan." One man demanded.
"No!" Viaan shouted.
Swinging his foot at the man who deftly dodged it. He ran to the opposite end of the shack only to be met by the same man from the other side appearing before him.
"Did you really think we would be so easy, Viaan?"
The man explained walking slowly toward him. Each step Viaan would reverse as well noticing the item behind the man's back.
"I was forced here why must I stay?!" Viaan defended.
"I don't want to hurt, but we are forced to…"
A look of discouragement laced his lips. Viaan didn't want to believe the man instead ran the other way. A puff of black smoke enveloped his vision blocking and smoldering him in suffocating fumes.
Viaan began to cough unable to make his way through motioning his hands attempting to swat it away. An invisible body wrapped its arms around him tightly as Viaan struggled to get free.
Backing up he knocked his feet in the air doing everything he could to yank himself free. The man before manifested in front of Viaan covering his mouth firmly.
"If you bite me I will drain till you can't stand."
He listened to the threat finally stopping in the middle of his thought. Dropping his legs to the floor and getting a good grip on his footing.
"I am Walker and my friend behind you is Sahil please…" He begged.
"I am going to be punished! How do you expect me to act?!" Viaan argued.
"Take your punishment and learn from your mistakes," Sahil explained.
"I don't even belong here!" Viaan shouted.
"Were false vampires no one would take you even if you escaped," Walker stated.
"What…"
"We are known false vampires since we are replicated and changed DNA through another process…it is also a slave status, Viaan," Walker answered.
"A false vampire…"
"I know it's a lot to take in, but you are dangerous in normal society now." Sahil spouted.
