“Good response, but you need to improve on your magic senses.” Hecate’s voice rang out across the Colosseum as a pause occurred in their fight.

“How did you hide your spells? I could not sense anything from the fire lances you had created around the arena.” Elyssia questioned, as she thrust her staff down, the blade sinking into the sand.

“This is the next technique I want to teach you. It is known as a mana zone or a mana field. In essence you exert your will on the ambient mana in the area to take control. This allows you to manipulate the mana within the area and cast spells wherever you like.” Hecate stated to explain, summoning little balls of fire all around the arena.

“Currently all the spells you have casted have been in the area around you where your own mana has been released. Look around, can you see how I am extending my mana into the area around us?” Hecate waves her hand and pours more mana into the surroundings to make it clearer for Elyssia to see.

Closing her eyes, Elyssia focused on spreading her own mana over the area to sense what Hecate was talking about. She could feel more resistance against her mana than when she had searched the area before.

“So, you allowed my mana to search the area but limited it from reaching the area where you were casting your spells through using resistance, and distracted me from noticing using the fire lance in front of you and the earth spear to keep my focus on fighting?” Elyssia questioned, once again incredibly impressed with how good Hecate was at fighting using magic.

“Exactly” Hecate responded with a pleased smile, happy at how fast Elyssia had figured out what she had done.

Elyssia watched as Hecate pulled a small stack of books out of a rift and pushed them towards her.

“These are books that cover this particular area of mana control and a little something extra if you can figure it out.” Hecate called out with a playful smile on her lips.

Happily accepting the books that had floated in front of her, Elyssia waved her hand to create a rift then pushed the books inside. This was a small pocket of space that Elyssia had created with the help of Hecate. It allowed Elyssia to store a moderate number of items that she could access at any time.

“lets continue, this is the ne-“ Hecate suddenly stopped speaking and looked upwards.

“DON’T YOU EVEN DARE!” Hecate roared, her face contorting into one of rage.

CRACK

Elyssia, completely stunned by Hecate’s sudden shout and looked up just in time to see white fragments like shards of glass flying downwards as they dissipate while a massive surge of white energy with flickers of blue lightning came flying towards her.

Elyssia realised that the situation was bad and forced as much mana as she could into a barrier directly above her as she tried to dash to the side.

Out of the corner of her eye she could see Hecate with a pale face launching a massive black spinning orb upwards that Elyssia realised was pure condensed gravity magic.

Watching the orb slightly warp the beam before completely disappearing into it, Elyssia’s face also paled as she realised that her barrier could do nothing to stop the oncoming attack.

“ELYSSIA!” Hecate screamed while dashing towards her, a look of fear on her face.

The beam instantly shattered Elyssia’s barrier and engulfed her, blasting Hecate back into the wall of the coliseum, completely destroying the wall. Elyssia was electrocuted by the traces of lightning which was not strong enough to kill her but did cause her intense pain.

Screaming, Elyssia let a burst of her mana out in an attempt to fend of the lightning, however it was futile as everything around her suddenly warped and weightlessness overcame her. The light instantly vanished and the pain stopped leaving some numbness, the only thing that existed in this dark space were the ringing in her ears from where she had been electrocuted and the booming and echoing laughs of what Elyssia could just about make out to be 5 different individuals, two female and 3 male.

Elyssia tried to look around to get her bearings and find the source of the jovial yet sinister laughter, but before she got the chance, she felt a force tugging her downwards as she found herself thrown downwards.

Her black surroundings warped once again as she was slammed into the hard and snow-covered ground of her new surroundings.

Elyssia let out an agonised scream once again as she felt the bones in her wrists and knees shattering with the impact as she coughed out some blood onto the snow she had flattened. Each cough brought her even more agony with the movement.

Quickly Elyssia did her best to try and concentrate on circulating her mana through her body and start healing her broken bones, the cold snow around her helping her to stay conscious. This process which took just a few minutes felt like hours for Elyssia who for the first time in her life had to feel such pain.

After feeling the last pit of pain subside from her body, she relaxed as the tension left her muscles and she embraced the coldness of the show. Elyssia started to sort through her thoughts of what happened as she single-mindedly focused on what had just happened. looking up, saw that she was in a forest of fir trees where everything was covered in snow.

‘This is definitely not the underworld. That means I have been transported again.’ Elyssia’s mind started whirling again as she processed everything.

[Identifying unknown entity]

“Hecate, are you there? Can you hear me?” Elyssia’s voice called out, but she got no response.

A slight sense of panic rose in Elyssia’s heart as she called out again.

“Hecate, please don’t ignore me, respond to me!”

Once again, no response came. The rising sense of panic formed a lump in the bottom of Elyssia’s stomach as she realised Hecate was not with her.

Her mind began to swirl chaotically as her situation sunk in.

She was once again thrown into another world.

[Entity identified]

She was once again separated from those she cared about.

She was once again being toyed with by unknown powers.

[Analysing entity: Elyssia Anastasia Elizabeth Sadrestium]

She was being mocked by those who threw her into another new world.

The snow nearby Elyssia started to stir as energy started to gush out of her. Her white coloured mana formed a haze as it started to circulate around her causing a mild snowstorm. Her face had started to twist in anger as her beautiful looks became contorted.

[Estimated time until completion: 5 hours 23 minutes 32 seconds]

As her thoughts continued, a shadow started creeping over Elyssia’s face as her rage began increasing.

‘These damned gods have torn me away from those I care about twice now.’

The more her thoughts continued, the wilder her mana became, whipping more snow and some of the earth below it up into the storm around her. Her mana started to hum as it caused the air around to vibrate as it started to reflect her inner turmoil.

As time passed her anger filled thoughts cascaded even further, every time her rage grew the more her mana started to thrash about starting to damage the nearby trees as the area her mana covered increased.

‘THESE FUCKING GODS WILL PAY. I WILL KILL EVERY FUCKING ONE WHO GETS IN MY WAY.’

Elyssia’s thoughts fell from anger into pure hate, her fists clenched so tight blood had started to leak out where her nails dug into her palms, flowing through her clenched fingers only to get drawn away into the raging storm.

Her mana suddenly exploded out as Elyssia’s rage reached a boiling point, causing damage that had been restricted to just a 10 metres wide area to increase to nearly 100 metres around her. Trees were blown outwards, the ground below her caved in and began to crack all around her as the pressure of the mana she was releasing was so strong.

Elyssia’s eyes started to glow; her pink irises started to glow red as her absolute rage spiralled even further.

However, this was not to continue as Elyssia suddenly fell to her knees, then fell face down onto the bottom of the small crater as she passed out.

A/N

This is the point I let out a content sigh.

Writing up till this point has been a lot of setup and all that, and now I can just spew content without too much worry about ties to our current world and getting things incorrect (for the most part). The research side of things has on some occasions taken up to 6 hours for just one chapter, as you can imagine its quite annoying when you just want to write interesting content but are bogged down with 24k words of setup.

That is nearly 2.5x the number of words for my final dissertation for university. Like wow. With my experience of writing this I don’t even know how someone would write one of these popular short stories! Like in 10k words complete a whole story.

Imagine it like this, everyone’s favourite fantasy tale short story mode:

Pointy hat wizard man sends 2 midgets on a suicide mission to throw a ring in a volcano. On their trip they are stalked by a creepy sphinx cat who steals their bread.

From that you get the story but no depth! No character development! Whoever writes them is a damned wizard themselves!

Aannyywwaayyyy, with that slight rant over, hope you have enjoyed so far. The face slapping is to come!

Ps.

I have been keeping an eye on the recent readers list and have seen a few names that keep popping up, so to you guys thanks for sticking with me so far. And those who I have not yet spotted/just joined us, I'm once again going to thank you. the support is honestly a great motivation. (for those on Webnovel, thanks for all those stones you throw at me XD)

Also, I have been getting some feedback from my little post chapter nonsense, so if you don’t mind it, then cool, if not, just throw a comment telling me to shut up haha =D
