Chapter 108 Upper Second Year

In an instant, the crowd had the same question: how strong was Xiang Ning?

The more observant ones started muttering to themselves. If Xiang Ning had been a tier one, nine-star martial artist before the wilderness activity… wouldn’t he be even stronger after the activity? He could even have broken through to tier two.…

Minds raced as they mulled it over. The crowd couldn’t read Xiang Ning at all. They heard that he wasn’t even a martial artist when he arrived, but now he was one of the top students. Was he some kind of monster?

When they saw their own struck down by Xiang Ning so quickly, the mocking expressions instantly turned serious. Finally, they were taking him seriously.

Feng Qi barked shrilly, “You two imbeciles! I cannot believe you lost to a year one junior!”

The other person frowned instantly. “You’re really something, aren’t you?” Though he said that, he wasn’t blinded enough by rage to rush forward, instead moving to help his partner up.

“Big brother, I’m fine. I was just too careless.” He stood up, icily glaring at Xiang Ning. He was in some disbelief that he had been knocked down by a part-time student; it was embarrassing. But it was fine, because in a moment he would pummel the kid to the brink of death! He swore to break the kid’s arms and legs!

Xiang Ning condescendingly looked at them. They didn’t know what he had experienced. If he was already calm in the face of more than ten fearsome beasts at a time in the wilderness, would two men weaker than himself even pique his interest? These two were weaker than him, so even if he put on a show and let them run a few punches, it would do nothing for his cultivation.

Therefore, he turned to them and sincerely asked, “Can we not waste any time? Come hit me if that’s what you want, I don’t have time to play. And you weaklings, do you think you’re safe just because someone stepped up?”

He was telling the truth this time. He had no time to waste and wanted to talk to his classmates to collect Fury Points from them.

Fury Points +166

Fury Points +177

He was delighted by the sudden surge in Fury Points.

“Arrogance! Absolute arrogance!”

“He just offended everyone with that one line. Isn’t he afraid he’ll be dragged into an alley and beaten up one day?”

Everyone was stunned by what he said, including the netizens on the discussion threads that exploded on forums.

“What a manly man! He’s my type!”

“Dear Internet, please send me everything you know about him in three minutes, including his various measurements, height, favorite food, favorite games, favorite type of girl, etc. I want him as my sugar baby!”

“Such recklessness! Isn’t he afraid of getting pummeled?”

Even other levels of society took notice. Within a conference room, the group of teachers watched the video projected on the screen, unsure of whether to laugh or cry. The kid was bold, that’s for sure.

“Headmaster, Xiang Ning is being insubordinate! Having a student like that in our school ruins our reputation! I remain firm on my stance to expel him!” declared Liu Ouhai.

Zhang Lian, who was Class 2’s teacher, nodded in agreement and turned to Qi Jiuming. “Headmaster, if Xiang Ning remains in our school, students from other schools will continually harass us. It’ll disrupt the peace, and it’ll definitely affect our other students!”

All of the teachers agreed, save for Su Muhan. She looked at the group, not realizing that she was smirking. The group turned to look at her, brows furrowing when they heard a condescending chuckle. She spoke up, “‘Martial artists, be bold and face it all.’ So what has he done wrong? Was it because he challenged and offended other schools? Or because he refused to save someone in trouble? Or because he offended someone and they made your students bear the consequences of it?”

“Heh, so what you’re implying, Miss Su, is that it’s our fault?” Zhang Lian scoffed. That was exactly what she expected Miss Su to say. “That’s your student, of course you’re defending him. He’s benefited from all of this, but what about my students? They’re always stopped by random people at the school gates. What do you make of that?”

Other teachers privately agreed; they were aware of the recent incidents. Every day, students from other schools would challenge their students to duel, and when some students could no longer bear the humiliation, they accepted their challenge only to end up losing. As time passed, resentment grew. The source of these problems was Xiang Ning.

Su Muhan didn’t speak, because she knew it would be useless to say anything. No one here would understand what she meant. Her main point was the saying she uttered in the beginning: ‘Martial artists, be bold and face it all.’ Now, their own students were being harassed by other schools - her only hope was that Xiang Ning would be able to do something about it!

However, she was worried about what the headmaster thought, because one word from him would determine Xiang Ning’s future. When her eyes met his, she smirked. It looked as if the headmaster understood.

“Alright, that’s enough. I think it’s fine to let the students solve their own problems sometimes. We don’t have to intervene too much. This time, we’ll be the audience!”

The teachers were surprised by his declaration, but didn’t argue; they seemed to understand.

“Xiang Ning, I hope you won’t disappoint me.” Qi Jiuming rubbed his chin as he watched the teenager on the screen.

……

Meanwhile, the school field was already packed with a crowd. Other upper second-year students had rushed over in a rage after listening to over-dramatized gossip of Xiang Ning defeating Feng Qi’s two fighters.

Xiang Ning was initially a little panicked when he saw so many people approaching. He hadn’t intended to make this into such a huge deal; the crowd was intimidating.

“So this is the powerful new student we’ve been hearing about?” an average-looking, yet muscular guy said. Many recognized him as one of the most powerful upper-second year students, Zhou Wanfeng.

Gasps were heard when he appeared.

“Isn’t that Zhou Wanfeng? The tier one, nine-star spiritual cultivator?”

“Uh… I don’t think so? How can a spiritual cultivator have a body like that?”

“Don’t you know? Zhou Wanfeng felt a spiritual cultivator’s physical body was too weak and vulnerable if the opponent approached. That’s why he trained his muscles. He basically removed that weakness.”

When Feng Qi saw Zhou Wanfeng, she immediately said, “Young Master Zhou, that’s Xiang Ning. Your younger brother hurt his arm and had to leave the wilderness activity early because of him!”

All eyes fell on Xiang Ning, who was extremely confused. Who was Zhou Wanfeng’s younger brother? What did the wilderness activity have to do with this? Why was everything his fault? The other schools were the ones harassing students, so why must he be painted as the culprit?
