Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Convincing Oberyn

(Oberyn Martell POV)

I like how this boy expresses himself, I will take him as an apprentice, by having someone to train I will not be bored during the day 

Oberyn "You may retire"

Guard "Yes my Lord" replied leaving the gardens

Lancel "My Lord, I have something important to say" said the boy with a serious expression 

Oberyn "Tell me" 'Interesting, what will you tell me, boy?'

Lancel "I had a vision in which your sister was being killed along with her children by orders of Tywin Lannister" he said, I immediately got angry and put my spear next to his neck

(Lancel POV)

System "Rescue mission of Elia Martell in King's Landing. The Host is given options on how to do it: 1) Alone, 2) with someone he trusts and 3) convince Doran Martell to send his army" said the voice

Lancel 'The last option is obviously ruled out, so I only have two options left, the first one is very risky, so I have to convince Oberyn in any way possible'

Lancel "I know you won't believe me right now, but when news will comes of the battle at the Trident, as well as the defeat and death of Prince Rhaegar, you will must accompany me to King's Landing,  if this doesn't happen, you will can kill me at any time" 

Oberyn "I don't believe you boy, besides you win by going to save my sister" he said with a frown and still holding the spear close to my throat 

Lancel "Your help, even if you don't believe me, there will be a war in which we all must participate, and I will need your help on the battlefield" 

Oberyn "I'll wait for the news, but if it's a lie, you will have a horrible death" he said removing the spear from my throat

 

(third person POV)

5 days after Lancel arrived at Sunspear, in the Trident. The allied forces under the command of Prince Rhaegar and his commanders (Prince Lewyn Martell, Ser Barristan Selmy, and Ser Jonothor Darry) are about to fight against rebel forces under the command of Lord Robert Baratheon and his commanders (Lord Eddard Stark, Lord Jon Arryn and Lord Hoster Tully)

Before the battle it can be seen that the rebel forces are made up of 35,000 soldiers, while the allied forces form an army of 40,000 soldiers, in the scene you can hear shouts of orders, as well as shouts of encouragement for their soldiers.

The battle are about to start and it can be seen where the two armies would meet, in the Green Fork of the Trident.

Prince Lewyn took the Dornish army to attack the left flank of the rebel forces, as the combat unfolds Ser Lyn Corbray took the sword (Desperate Lady) from his wounded father, whom his son Lyonel brought to the rear, while Ser Lyn takes it upon himself to lead the charge against the Dornishmen and destroy their formation. During his fight Ser Lyn Corbray encountered Prince Lewyn Martell who was already wounded. In the combat, Ser Lyn Corbray ended up killing Prince Lewyn. 

At another point of battle Ser Barristan Selmy fought like a lion in a swarm of sheep, as he was the reaper in combat, while Ser Jonothor Darry was killed in combat. While this was happening Lord Robert Baratheon started a single combat with Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, Lord Robert Baratheon had a huge maso with a spike and a horned helmet and Rhaegar with his black armor with rubies on the breastplate that drew the figure of a dragon with three heads; During the combat Lord Robert was wounded in the side but his strength was so tremendous and his thirst for revenge was so deep that he landed a blow with his mass on Prince Rhaegar's chest and with a single blow he killed him. The rubies of the breastplate  Prince Rhaegar's  fell off and scattered in the river water

With the death of the leader, the royal army retreated without any order, the news of the success of this battle will soon spread throughout the western kingdom. 

After the battle on the field there was only one wounded Ser Barristan Selmy surrounded by rebel forces, he was wounded and taken captive, after the battle everyone saw why they named Ser Barristan 'The Brave'

With Lord Robert Baratheon wounded, Lord Eddard Stark marched with the main army to King's Landing, while Lord Robert followed behind with a part of the army. Elsewhere, Tywin Lannister knowing the result of the battle of the Trident quickly marches towards King's Landing. 

In King's Landing, King Aerys II Targaryen after learning of Rhaegar's death and the defeat of his soldiers sends his pregnant wife and son Viserys to Dragonstone, while holding Elia Martell and her children captive so that the Dornishmen do not betray him

 

(Oberyn's POV)

Knowing about the battle of the Trident, I immediately believe what the boy said, so I go to find him so that we can go to King's Landing

Oberyn "Boy, we'll leaving tonight, my brother forbade me to leave Sunspear, so you'll wait for me at the dock, take these ten gold coins and buy the fastest ship they have a ride to King's Landing." 

Lancel "Okay, but if you don't get here before 10 I'll go alone" he said, not taking no for an answer 

Oberyn "So it will be boy" 

When night comes, I lock myself up with my daughters and tell them that I will go out for a while, I tie a rope next to the window and I slide out through it. Lancel told me that he will prepare everything in case he had to escape to go to King's Landing.

Arriving at the port, I notice Lancel anxiously waiting for me.

Lancel "We have to hurry, otherwise we'll be late to the rescue" he said before getting on board, I immediately boarded and set sail for King's Landing. I will hope my distrust is not something I regret, If my sister and her children will die at the hands of the Lannisters in King's Landing
