Chapter 2 Unlucky Number

It wasn't long before Astan finished his meal and said goodbye to go for a job interview.  He has been in Jayapa City for three months and has not found a job at all. Astan feels at the age of eighteen just being unemployed, even though he just graduated from the academy 4 months ago.  He walked towards the elevator, taking the hallway to the right of the apartment door position. The flickering lights don't scare Astan because it's his daily food. He stopped in front of the elevator, waited for a tingling sound to be heard and he rushed inside.  There was a female guide's voice, along with the elevator moving. Astan just stood there waiting until he got to the first floor, but he just realized something. The elevator continued to rise until it stopped right on the 24th floor, he tried to calm himself and catch his breath.  His head was lowered by playing with his feet on the iron base, knocking on the floor until several people entered. The number of people in the elevator is 5 people. Everyone fell silent and stood in their respective places. Astan still lowered his head, but he didn't close his eyes.  He noticed one of the legs of someone who looked so blue, that the elevator stopped on the first floor.

Astan walked away from the tall, big and old building.  It's an unkempt building, the walls are faded, and the whites aren't as bright as they were 20 years ago.  After passing through the spacious apartment grounds, there are several private cars, taxis, motorbikes, and bicycles.  Astan takes the right path towards the bus stop. Along the way, many vehicles pass by non-stop. His voice was so piercing to the ears, but he just ignored all the noises.  Enjoying the morning atmosphere with small steps, without realizing that the bus stop is right in front of your eyes. People had already filled their seats, some were forced to stand to wait for the bus to arrive.  Astan stood up occasionally looking around and at the figure who had been in the elevator. The figure was standing on the side of the road with his whole body turning blue. His school clothes were so wet, his hair was messy, his legs were injured, and blood was pouring out of his head.  The female figure's gaze was cold and completely devoid of emotion.

By trying not to be afraid Astan takes her so seriously.  However, he just realized something. The number of people in the elevator was not five, but only four.  Plus the figure of the girl in the school uniform. He was silent for a moment as he remembered it, but the sound of the bus stopping could be heard.  Astan thinks that the figure is human, when in the elevator. Because he had seen teenage children in the apartment cosplaying as Hium characters. They all walked in by stuffing 5 Weal into a box.  Astan sat right by the window quietly, placing his backpack on his lap. After all the passengers entered, the bus began to leave the stop. However, Astan still had time to pay attention to the woman's figure until it was no longer visible.

He looked straight ahead, the sound of horns filling the streets, they all seemed impatient and in a hurry to get to work.  The bus stopped several times to pick up passengers until it became increasingly crowded and hot. The air conditioner no longer feels like the oxygen inside is running low.  Astan accidentally catches a strange figure, a little girl covered in blood with a doll in hand. The girl sat in the chair opposite him. Astan stood up as the little girl's pair of black eyes glared at him.  To avoid the girl, Astan walks towards the door and waits for the next stop. The bus stopped, making the glass doors open automatically. People were pouring out, treading carefully. For a moment Astan stood and stared at the light blue bus.  He sighed after the bus left, as if he had been relieved of something.

Astan rushes off to a tall building that has about 60 floors.  Full of confidence, Astan opened the glass door and entered. He was standing right in front of the elevator on his feet, tapping the cream-colored floor.  Two minutes later there was the sound of the door opening. Astan stepped into the silent elevator, dialed 44 and sped up quickly. It only took a few minutes, Astan was on the floor he was aiming for.  Astan darted out walking towards the design firm's office. Although a little confused, but Astan was able to find the company. He pushed open the thick glass door. Astan enters and joins some of the people who are sitting.  They just sat in silence and so did he. Astan didn't even move at all, until he heard a female voice calling his name. Astan stood up, following the girl in neat clothes and long, flowing hair.

He sat in front of a man who was focusing on his application file.  For a few seconds, there was no sound from the two of them. Only the ticking of the clock and the air from the air conditioner could be heard.  Astan sat quietly, placing his hands on his thighs. Astan's pair of dark brown eyes watched the man in front of him, until a deep voice sounded.

"Yes sir."  Astan quickly answered.  Ready to answer all interview questions up to ten minutes have passed.  Astan comes out feeling relieved, walks to a chair and grabs a black backpack, and leaves the company.

"Later you can wait for a call from us.  If you are accepted to work here, "said the man.  While in the room, Astan can guess the answer the boy will say.

After leaving the building, Astan is now sitting at the bus stop and doesn't know where to go.  Astan just sat staring at the concrete floor and occasionally tapping his feet, until someone called his name.  Making Astan stop tapping on the concrete floor, he looks up and finds a man standing right in front of him. A man with an oval face, tan skin, thick but thin lips, and dark brown eyes.

"It's you, Astan isn't it?"  The man asked with a big smile.

"Yeah, who are you?"  Astan answered with a face full of question marks.

"You don't remember me.  I am your friend, Endra Julistian.  We were in the same class at ATS (Level One Academy).”  Endra answered quickly and sat right beside Astan who was trying to find memories of the past.

"Oh, I remember.  Why are you here?"  Astan spoke with joy and a face full of question marks.

“I work nearby.  How about you?" Endra answered and again asked Astan a question.

"I have a job interview today and it looks like I won't be accepted."  Astan answered him in a low voice and lowered his head again.

"Never mind, how about we find a place to eat?"  Endra offered with a big smile on his face.

When the waiting vehicle arrived, they entered the blue bus.  The bus was not very crowded, but all the seats were filled. They sat happily chatting with each other.  A few minutes later the bus stopped right at the next stop. Some of the passengers got off, and so did the two of them.  They walked out of the bus stop, until they were in front of the cafe, which was decorated with flowers. The two entered and chose a table near the glass.  Shortly after sitting down, a maidservant approached. Carrying a menu book along with a pair of stationery, the waiter began to write on a small note quickly.  After finishing, the waiter quickly left the table.
