Chapter 16: Morals and decision

Having reached in front of Maya’s door, Seth used the records to create a copy of Maya’s key and stepped inside.

The system didn’t reply for some reason, and Seth started working on making a gray soft carpet to cover the floor. Since he didn’t want to destroy the other furniture as well, he had to put quite some work into lifting everything and sliding the carpet underneath.

Being done with the carpet, he quickly started creating a new bed, almost identical to his own. After being done with the bed itself as well as the mattress, he made some red blankets and two pillows, on which he wrote his name as a joke, before running low on energy and laying down on the bed with a smirk.

On the bed, Seth closed his eyes and started gathering energy toward his sources. Around an hour after noon, a soft rattling sound from the door made Seth lift himself on his elbows and smile as he waited for the door to open.

Maya opened the door and walked in, only to freeze when she saw the new furniture and Seth lying down on her new bed.

Seth smiled at her and said: “Welcome home, honey. How do you like our new bed? I think it’s quite comfortable myself.”

Maya had quite a lot of questions, but one of them came first: “How the hell did you get in without breaking the lock?”

“I have my ways. Why don’t you come here so we can put the bed to a test?” said Seth with a smirk.

Maya smiled back and removed her shoes before walking to the bed. She lay down next to Seth and let out a content sigh. “It is indeed good. Thank you.”

Sitting on his side and moving one hand over her soft belly, Seth asked: “How about we test its durability as well? It would be a shame if it were to somehow have some issues we didn’t spot.”

“What if I have someone else in mind to test it with?” asked Maya back, but Seth could feel her body slowly heating up under the palm of his hand.

Making a fake hurt look, he said: “After I worked so hard to change the furniture in your room, won’t you give me a small reward? You know, I even had to lift every piece of furniture to place the carpet underneath. All by myself.”

Maya chuckled and moved her hand over his as she asked: “What about class? Don’t tell me you poached my students so you can have them study by themselves?”

“Well, I had some prior arrangements, so I sent them home for the day.”

Nodding slightly, Maya also turned on her side and locked eyes with Seth, their faces being only a few inches apart.

“Thank you. I’m going to cultivate in my room. If you need more help with renovations, just come and seek me out. I’ll be happy to help.” Said Seth as he opened the door and stepped outside. When he was about to close the door, he peeked his head back in and said: “For a price, that is.”

Smirking, he closed the door before Maya would blow up and started walking towards his room.

Once he stepped inside and locked the door behind him, he asked the system: ‘Can you help me make some books for those girls, or do I have to write them myself?’

He didn’t sleep at all until the morning of the next day and he finished making two for each type of energy, those being: Water, light, darkness, destruction, and space, each book around 400 pages long. The process took so long because he didn’t want to use another vial so soon. With its high concentration, it would harm his sources if consumed in abundance, just like stretching something over the limit might break it.

Walking out of his room, he yawned out loud and made his way toward his class after making sure his clothes were orderly. Since it was still quite early and the girls were not there yet, he just sat down behind the desk and closed his eyes while he waited for them to arrive.

It took about 15 minutes before the door opened and Leora walked inside. Opening one eye, he threw her the two books on light energy and said: “Congratulations on becoming an ascended. Now sit down and study.”

Seeing that Leora nodded, Seth took the books and Lisa with him and headed toward his office. Only after stepping in did he remember he hadn’t changed the furniture in his teacher’s office.

Heaving a long sigh, he said: “I forgot to clean this place up. Sorry about that. Let’s take a seat.”

Lisa didn’t seem to mind, and they both sat down, Seth behind his desk and Lisa in front.

“Are you sure about this? There is no going back.” Said Seth first, just to make sure the girl has really decided.

“Yes, teacher. I will listen to teacher’s words and will not speak to anyone about anything in this class as long as I can ascend with three sources.” She knew it was a risk, but the chance of having more sources than even the headmistress was too much of a temptation for her.

Seth smiled and disappeared from the desk before appearing behind her and tapping her shoulder.

Lisa nodded and extended her hand forward. “Alright. I’m ready.”

Seth raised an eyebrow and asked: “For what?”

“For teacher to put his energy inside me.”

Seth’s face turned awkward with her choice of words and said: “And in which sources should I insert my destruction energy?”

Lisa was stumped, realizing that she indeed had no sources, and asked: “Then, how do we do it?”

“Sigh, we can only wait until you can stabilize your sources.”

“And what if I show your books to others until then?”

“Do you plan on showing them to others?” asked Seth with a smile that was not a smile.

Lisa shook her head and said hurriedly: “I won’t. I promise.”

“Good. When we return to the class, keep those affinities a secret from the two other girls as well. You will start with darkness and memorize everything inside before moving to space. Once those two are done, you can study water with the others.”

Lisa nodded and pondered for a moment before asking: “How does teacher know so much?”

Seeing her shake her head, Seth chuckled and led her back to class.
