Volume 2 Chapter 1

Vlad awoke to the sound of dripping water at the nearby sink. He opened his eyes and saw light shine through an opening in the ceiling. His first instinct was to move his hand to his face to wipe off the dried blood. To his surprise not a mark was on his hand it seem as if nothing happened last night. No signs of a puncture and not even a scar was left.

He then looked around and saw there wasn't anyone else in the room. So he stood up and moved towards the door. When he reached the doorway, he saw sunlight coming from outside. It seems he slept through the night on the floor. He slowly opened the door to find the morning sun shining coming in.

He found himself in a jungle with towering trees. He has never seen trees like this before. In the wasteland, all the trees were never this tall and they all seemed mutated from the radiation or the chemicals they were exposed to. Not only nuclear weapons were used but all sorts of chemical and biological agents were used during the final great war but here they seemed so healthy and vibrant.

Vlad can only describe it as a fairy tale. Like the old stories, his mom and dad used to tell him of a distant past. He was stunned by his surroundings and didn't know what to do. He was clearly not in Lone Star Town anymore, he wasn't even in the wastelands anymore from how he looked at his surroundings. Unfortunately, due to the trees, he wasn't able to see the sky. If he did he would have noticed two moons. One big and one small in the sky. If he was in the wasteland he wouldn't have seen the moon at all due to the chemicals in the atmosphere.

He looked around and saw nothing familiar. No buildings or people just jungle as far as he could see. The only thing that he could recall was the God's Gate cube. It must have brought him here somehow.

It seems that God's Gate was a literal gate. It was able to open a gateway to another world. He is still able to get back in the house but it seems as soon as he opens the front door he found himself in another world.

"Ok, so now what?" He asked himself.

He began to walk around outside for a bit. opening and closing the door. It seemed fine he can still get back in the house if he wanted to. He then started looking for something familiar and went outside. Finding nothing he simply continued to walk around. Until he came across a group of animals. They were monkeys and apes that resembled humans. But they were different from humans.

The creatures were covered in fur and had long arms and legs like their bodies were built for running instead of walking. Their hands were similar to human hands but they had claws on them as well. See that, he wanted to be prepared and reached out to his side for his pistol. Not being able to reach anything he realized that he had just gone out without bringing anything to defend himself. So he decided to observe them for a bit then he went back inside and grab his weapons and gear. Unfortunately, his main gun was still being repaired by Ingka.

After putting his gun away he readied himself once again. Vlad knew that he could take care of those creatures easily but he didn't want to risk it. So he put his gun back in his holster and headed back outside.

He then approached those creatures once again. Staying in a location that was hidden from those creatures but still has a good view of them. Like a tiger stocking his prey, he stayed in the brush. His gear was built for stealth, dark in color and the pattern was designed to brake his silhouette. He learned all this from his long days in the wasteland hunting mutated creatures and other humans. In the wasteland, it was a constant battle and he treated his new environment the same way.

Looking at the creatures looked similar to chimps but had long claws like that of a sloth but sharper. They seemed to be carnivorous from the bones around them. Vlad's eyes have already been augmented. In the wastelands, you needed an edge over everything else. Cybernetics and genetic enhancement were common among the wanderers and mercenaries. His cybernetic eyes could see everything and with their thermal option, he could see the surroundings around his prey very clearly. Seeing only 6 individuals he calculated the distance and risk of the operation.

Seeing everything ready he started to move closer stocking his prey. As soon as he was in range. He pulled his pistol and let out the first shot. Vlad was carrying a silenced and upgraded .45 ACP handgun. It was a classic but reliable pistol that never failed him.

The first shot landed on the forehead of the creature that was facing the hiding spot. This shocked the remaining 5 clawed apes. Several swishing sounds followed taking down another clawed ape. Another one was hit right on the chest and dropped. The 3 remaining apes panicked looking around not knowing what happened trying to make sense of what was happening. Then they saw a figure at the corner of their eyes.

They turn towards the object and through evolution and sheer instinct knew immediately that they were being attacked by this creature.

They roared and instead of running away, they rushed the figure as if knowing that they had no way to escape.

This shocked Vlad but only for a second. Then he continued to fire. Several swooshing sounds could be heard. Then one of the rushing clawed apes went down. While the two others continued to rush as if their lives depended on it. Vlad then prepared for close combat by pulling a knife from his back. It was curved and looked sharp. If you knew knives you would immediately notice their distinct shape. Vlad's knife was a kukri, a weapon used by soldiers called Gurkhas of Nepal before the world ended.

Its blade was sharp enough that he could pierce through metal and wood. If he ever ran out of ammo he could use it as a backup.

He was able to drop another of the clawed apes with a shot to the shoulders. Unfortunately, the last clawed ape was able to get close. Vlad tried to keep his distance and slashed the beast with his knife. The knife sliced through the thick fur and left behind a deep cut. The last ape was too close and Vlad was unable to finish it off.

As the last ape got close. With one last slash with his kukri, Vlad chopped its head clean off. Vlad was surprised at what he saw when the ape fell forward and still tried to aim for him. Luckily he was still alert and dodged the last attack. It still hit him but he was protected by his armor.
