THAT EVENING AT THE GRAY RESIDENCE..

Sitting with legs crossed on a couch in a dimly lit room with a quarter-full wine glass
in hand is the formally dressed Marcel. He takes a sip of the crimson red alcoholic
beverage and briefly stares at the glass until his reflection starts to show even in
the semi-dark room. He ponders on the wine glass until a voice instantly breaks his
focus and snaps him out of his brief daze.

Is everything all right, Sir? - the polite butler asks as he appears from behind,
dressed in an all-black two-piece, with the top part being a waistcoat worn over a
crisp white shirt that has been buttoned all the way to the top with no tie.

-Oh its you Jeffrey, you frightened me. Marcel replies as he shares brief eye contact with the butler.
My apologies Sir, you seem uncharacteristically jumpy today, is something the
matter?
An audible sigh comes from Marcel and he takes a big gulp of the remaining beverage
until nothing but a drop of wine remained inside the glass.

-Jeffrey, we seem to have a problem. A distraught Marcel states.
A problem, you say, Sir?! The concerned butler asks while maintaining his regal
posture. His face still covered by the shadows of the dimly lit room.
-I dealt with a case of a young man who committed suicide these past few days and
something was very alarming about this case.

The butler maintains his silence as he waits for his master to continue speaking.
-It seems that he was led to suicide by 'convenient' circumstances. Those
circumstances make no sense whatsoever.
I am struggling to follow, Sir, what do you mean by 'convenient'? The puzzled butler

asks in a shaky tone, exposing his underlying concern.
-Jeffrey
Yes sir?
-I wasn't the one who did it.

Does that mean..
-Yes that's exactly what it means. Someone has decided to take the mantle for
themselves.

That is problematic, Sir, but are you sure that it wasn't a random suicide this time?
Jeffrey asks while maintaining his composure, he had been working for the Gray
family for two generations, he is a stern-faced mature man, presumably in his fifties
and his opinion has always been held in high regard by the family because he has
shown undisputed loyalty to the family even with its many dark secrets.

-It can't be! Marcel yells out and breaks his wine glass due to his sheer grip and some
pieces of the glass pierce into his flesh and cause his hands to bleed.
Sir? Are you okay. Let me go get the first aid kit.
-No, it is fine, Jeffrey, I shouldn't have lost my composure. Marcel stands up from
his chair.

-I will use these wounds as my punishment for overlooking some potential trouble.
The rarely distraught butler stares at his master who also rarely loses his composure.
The strange sense of foreboding envelopes the room. An unsavoury and palpable dark
cloud shrouds the entire Gray residence
