The Primus demon’s struggles ceased as its body continued to wither, a string of glowing energy flowing from its gaping mouth into Helios’ suspended above it. Helios was currently experiencing a state of ecstasy unrivalled by anything he had ever felt before. The taste of the Primus demon’s life force was absolutely intoxicating. He could feel the sinew excitedly moving underneath his skin in response to the stimulation.

I perfectly understand how the Primus demon’s tentacles work. The mucus secreted was a paralytic like I suspected. But it’s also slightly toxic and can eventually kill a Newborn with touch alone. If I choose to allow it, I can immediately grow a set of identical tentacles right now.

Should I, or would it be wiser to develop my Soul Brand instead? But if I do that, it might not be enough to grant me magic. I’ll still be as powerless as I am now. I have a better idea. I’ll modify the tentacles first and use the remainder of its essence to improve my Soul Brand

The stream of energy ended, leaving behind the dried husk of the Primus demon. The tentacles entangling Tsiyaha crumbled into dust under Helios’ weight. They were laying with their naked bodies pressed together. He hurriedly climbed to his feet while she watched him with undisguised frustration, still restrained by the effects of the paralytic toxin.

Helios looked away, decisively redirecting the warm energy along his spine toward his skull. It was a strange sensation. His muscles moved independently from each other, giving the feeling of insects crawling under his skin. He ignored the feeling of revulsion to instinctively control the life force and began modifying his body.

He made some slight alterations to the design before commanding the Soul Brand to sprout tentacles from his scalp. A multitude of strands started to grow from his head, completely different from their initial template. They were much thinner in comparison and lacked suction cups, looking similar to dreadlocks on a human.

I can’t forget the most important part, the paralytic. I don’t need the toxin.

The tentacles stopped growing once they reached down to his waist, secreting a thin mucus over their surface. An enormous amount of life force still remained. Helios decided to take a short break to test his new additions. He could twist and move the tentacles freely in any direction as they immediately responded to his thoughts.

What other changes should I make while I have the opportunity? I need to adapt my form to this place. My demonic Newborn appearance only makes me a target. Humans are prey. That’s true even for things that look like them.

Helios compelled the restless essence within him to spread throughout his body. Their unnerving sensation of the energy moving to his extremities. Swelling in height, his body maintained its lithe form with his abdomen shrinking to become unnaturally slender. His arms drastically elongated while sprouting an additional digit on each hand. His legs mutated the most, his foot lengthening with his heels lifted from the ground as changed from the usual plantigrade form into a digitigrade one.

With my new shape, I’ll still be able to squeeze through narrow passageways if need be. The changes to my feet should make me much more silent. It’ll also be easier to navigate over obstacles. While my additional thumbs will give me significantly increased grip strength.

Although he grew in height to match that of an adult male, he made little change to his overall mass. Instead, he gave himself an abnormally slender appearance, leaving his muscles corded with wiry strength. His face remained the same, a mockery of his countenance in life.

The bulk of the Primus demon’s essence still remained. He hesitantly directed it toward the Soul Brand inside him. It writhed in glee while greedily devouring his offering, compacting into a grotesque sphere. It unexpectedly unwound, expanding tendrils outward to take on a distinctively different appearance from his sigil before.

The squirming tendrils allowed Helios to imperceptively interact with the environment around him, faintly sensing Tsiyaha’s physical location despite being unable to feel her concealed aura. He instinctively understood that he could command the strands to have them manipulate the molecules in the area around him. Stretching upward, they encountered resistance from a colossal consciousness. Helios felt his mind restricted by an invisible force, causing his Soul Brand to tremble in apprehension.

Well done, I am pleased. You have given your hidden name definition. Your true name now means Break, an appropriate name. Develop your Soul Brand further to gain deeper meaning and greater might,” Satan informed him directly inside his consciousness.

Helios felt the enormous presence disengage, freeing his mind. Sighing in relief, he could still feel the alien consciousness of the Hell gate saturating the environment around him. It no longer paid him any attention.

Helios clutched his chest as he succumbed to a sudden wave of pain. Looking down, he discovered a dark bruise beginning to form across his torso. It was caused by the Primus demon smacking him aside earlier. He tentatively touched the injury, fiercely grunting through gritted teeth at the sharp pain.

“It could be worse. I got off relatively easy in comparison to you. Can you move again yet, Tsiyaha?” Helios asked, one arm resting protectively over his injury as he offered his hand.

“Yes. I’m unharmed,” Tsiyaha defensively replied, forcing herself to move.

Her movement was stiff, causing her to stumble back into the black sand. Helios reflectively shifted to aid her. Tsiyaha shied away with a hiss, watching him with distrust. She climbed unsteadily to her feet while staying out of arms reach.

“Haha, I get it. I can assure you that I’m not going to advantage of you while you’re vulnerable. I may officially be a Primus demon now, but I still need you. Our deal stands. Where else am I going to find another partner in this Hell hole?” Helios jovially assured her, causing her to visibly relax.

“Then our contract remains intact. Judging by the mucus over the tentacles growing from the back of your head, you’ve gained the ability to paralyze. Is it as potent as theirs?” Tsiyaha asked, subtly shifting to regain movement and gesturing toward the scattered remains of the Primus demon.

“I did. It wasn’t the only thing I gained. I hope you’re impressed,” Helios replied with a wry grin, holding his arms outward to display his new form while turning in a circle.
