As I was sitting there, waiting for the equipment to be finished, I was thinking about other stuff, like what was I going to do when I return to the Dukedom.

 

I had a lot of things I needed to do, not only to survive but also to lead a good life.

 

I was thinking like that for 30 minutes when it suddenly hit me. I was wasting time here by sitting here waiting, when I could get the potions, I need in the meantime.

 

Otherwise, I will be more late to return to the dormitory than I should be. Tomorrow I will begin the journey home, so I need plenty of rest of today.

 

I slapped my cheeks with both my hands to focus.

 

SLAP!

 

But before I go, I need to let Nick know I am going, so I called, “Hey Nick!”.

 

Hearing my voice, he stopped working and immediately came outside and said, “Yes, what’s the problem?”, looking anxious.

 

To assure him nothing was wrong, I said in a calm voice, “No, nothing is wrong. I just need to get some potions, so I am going to shop next to you for a bit. I just wanted to tell you that.”.

 

Hearing that Nick let out a sigh of relief and smile and said, “Oh, I see. Yes, grandma’s potions are the best. Please go on. In the meantime, I will finish the stuff you asked.”.

 

I nodded my head and said, “Ok.”, and got out of the shop and went to the next.

 

In front of the door, even from the outside, I could smell a strong smell. It contained a mixture of scents that I couldn’t which were which.

 

If I had to describe it, it would be a strong chemical smell, much more intense than what you would find in a high school chemistry lab.

 

Anyway, I took a deep breath and entered.

 

RING! RING!

 

As I entered a bell sounded.  It seems to be attached to the door. Inside the shop were various tables with beakers, tubes and other equipment usually found in a chemistry lab.

 

I guess these were for measuring potions. They contained different coloured liquids. There were also shelves on both sides containing several glass bottles with corks, containing different coloured liquids.

 

Also, there were different kinds of plant parts, animal parts etc. These were perhaps ingredients for potion making.

 

There was also a wooden table in the far corner, extending from side of the wall to another side, with a door behind it just the equipment coming.

 

“I am coming! I am coming!”, I could a hear a child’s voice coming from behind the door as soon as the bell rung.

 

And soon a little girl came to the counter, she looked barely 10 years old and wore a cute pink but dirty dress. She had short brown hair to her shoulder and black eyes.

 

So, a bit of background regarding this shop. This shop was run by this little girl’s grandmother with the little girl helping out.

 

From what I know, both her parents are dead and she is raised by her grandmother. This made me think how privileged David was and he lost his all because of some girl.

 

Calling him pathetic is an understatement but I couldn’t be too hard on him cause currently I am him.

 

This shop though did a bit better than Nick’s shop. As unlike Nick’s shop, this one had some customers, although the number was very small, again due to it’s location.

 

But I think that was due to her grandma being alive, and the trust the customers had for her. If she died, this shop would turn out like Nick’s.

 

Anyway, I didn’t have time to think about others currently as I needed to think about surviving myself, so I shrugged off the thoughts.

The girl asked, “Yes sir, how may I have help you?”.

 

I smiled a said, “Yes, I want your finest stamina potions and weight loss potions.”.

 

Now both stamina and weight loss potions existed in this world elsewhere. But the stamina potions outside took a long time to work and wasn’t that effective.

 

On the other hand, the stamina potions here were instantly effective and restored the full stamina. The novel mentioned this, so I was sure of it’s effectiveness.

 

As for the weight loss potions, it was only mentioned briefly twice, once when a person came to buy it when Aaron was shopping.

 

The grandma said that the potion was better than the ones outside as they need to be taken regularly for over 2 months to be fully effective and the ones in this shop needed to be taken twice and will work in just a week.

 

The second mention was when the customer who bought the medicine returned later to buy other things as he was satisfied with the results. So, again with this I know that it will work.

 

Now a weight loss potion even existing in this world is itself a cheat but this world is a fantasy world, so I won’t complain.

 

I needed to get in shape and train as soon as possible, so I need the weight loss potion.

 

I only have two months before I enter a dungeon, so the two months timing of the regular weight loss point won’t do for me. So, I need this one.

 

Also, the stamina potion is so that I can train for longer periods. Whenever I get tired, I will use the stamina potion to restore my stamina, so I can go on for longer.

 

Since these have no side effects it’s safe to consume them in large amounts.

 

Anyway, back to the present, hearing my order an old woman with grey hair tied in a ponytail and wearing an old green dress with an apron came out of the door. She was short and a little hunch backed.

 

“A new customer after such a long time. Welcome. How many of each potion do you need?”, the old woman asked.

 

I said, “For the stamina potion about 20 will suffice. As for the weight loss one, I need as much as I need to reduce my weight. By the way how long will it take?”.

 

The old lady said, “Hmm, well it takes about a week and you will require two for the weight loss potion to work, have the second one 3 days after the first one. I’ll prepare them right away.”.

 

I smiled and said, “Thank you.”.

 

“No problem. By the way, you can check the shop next to us for equipment, the kid there makes good equipment.”, said the grandma.

 

So, they look out for each other, how wholesome and endearing.

 

With a smile I said, “I have already ordered some equipment from him. I am shopping here in the meantime while the equipment is being completed.”.

 

The old lady smiled and said, “Oh, is that so? You will not be disappointed. Nick finally got a customer. I am happy for him. I’ll finish it right away.”.

 

The little girl who was silent till now smiled and said happily, “Now big brother Nick will be happy.”.

 

The grandmother patted her head and said, “Yes, he will Daisy.”.

 

The grandmother than realized something and then looked at me and said, “Oh yes, my name is Dorothy and this is my granddaughter Daisy.”.

 

I smiled and said, “Nice to meet you, Dorothy, Daisy. I am David.”. I guess they introduced themselves seeing as I was the first customer to visit them in some time and also, I visited Nick.

 

Dorothy nodded and said, “Then I’ll prepare the potions.” And went inside. Daisy stood outside the counter and told me, “Please sit, it will take some time.”.

 

I nodded and sat in one of the stools near the counter.
