Third POV:

 

Meanwhile in the mansion of Duke Ackerman. Duke Ivan Ackerman, David’s father was sitting in his office, going through a mountain of documents.

 

But his focus was somewhere else and he couldn’t focus on the documents. Then he heard a knock on the door.

 

Knock! Knock!

 

“Come in”, said Ivan. In came his personal butler Sebastian, he was an elderly man with a mustache.

 

“Lord Ivan, a letter has arrived from the academy through magic delivery”, said Sebastian.

 

“Give it to me”, said Ivan, his face showing anticipation as he held out his hand after stopping his work.

 

He received the letter, then frantically opened the envelope and scanned through the letter. After reading the letter, he let out a sigh of relief.

 

He then put don the letter and asked Sebastian, “Contact the Duchess and tell her to come to my office. Also, make a call to the dormitory of David.”.

 

Sebastian bowed and said, “As you wish my lord.”, and left. Ivan looked out of the window of his office which was on his side in contemplation.

 

David’s POV:

 

As I made my way to my dormitory, I was glad that Aaron didn’t die. I know I said that, I don’t care if he dies if I can save myself, but while that is true, I didn’t want to have murder in my hands so early on.

 

Also, there are people who might become my mortal enemies if I did that, including one of the two heroines, who can be trouble.

 

Anyway, I arrived at my mansion, which was a separate building from the rest of the school. It was suitably luxurious for a Duke’s son. It even had it’s own maids and servants.

 

This was a privilege only a Royal or a Duke’s children can enjoy.   

 

I went inside and was greeted by my personal maid Cindy, “Welcome home, young master.”. She was my personal maid since childhood and I bought her to school as well. She was only a few years older than me at 18 and she had strawberry pink hair and light blue eyes and was quite pretty with a shapely figure.

 

I nodded and said, “I need to think some things by myself, so I’ll be in my room. Bring me tea.”.

 

Cindy nodded and said, “Yes, young master.”.

 

I then went into my room, which was quite spacious with a king size bed, a chandelier and other designer furniture and luxurious stuff.

 

I sat o a chair by my bed. Now, where do I begin?

 

Hmm, my previous life, huh? Well, there’s nothing really to think about,  I was an orphan raised in an orphanage, so I really didn’t have anyone I particularly cared about in that life.

 

One day as I was going back home from school, I got hit by a truck which had it’s driver drunk, I was walking on the sidewalk and still got hit, I barely had time to think.

 

I was 17 then, in the final year of high school.

 

So, yeah, I really don’t have anything I regret doing in that life.

About this life, well, this world is apparently of a novel I read in my past time. I was a fan of Japanese anime and novels then.

 

This novel was called [A hero’s rise], it was a cliché novel based on academy setting.

 

The protagonist was a commoner whose parents worked for Duke Green, another Duke of the empire.

 

He was childhood friends with the duke’s daughter, Emily, who was also the main heroine. Aaron showed his skills at an early age, which caused the Duke to acknowledge his skills and enroll him the academy with his daughter, who was also influenced his decision regarding this.

 

Otherwise, a commoner such as Aaron couldn’t even set foot in the academy. Emily will also help Aaron with things throughout stay in the academy.

 

The story revolves around Aaron’s 3 years in the Royal Magic Academy and all the incidents mostly takes place inside the Academy except when Aaron goes to other places occasionally to obtain something. Oh yes, I and Aaron both were 15, which is the age for entering the academy.

 

I will be the first ‘villain’ he faces when he rescues my fiancé Sera Rockwell from me.

 

Then I get banished for losing the duel, in a remote part of my father’s territory. I would be preparing myself and plotting for revenge from then on.

 

By that time, I would do some training and lose weight and will get my handsome look which is depicted in the light novel cover, which is the face I was talking about previously, not my current face, which well, is not very good looking due to the fat.

 

Aaron would visit the place towards the end of the story to find a cure for a particular heroine who was poisoned due to circumstances and was on the verge of death.

 

I would set an ambush for him, waiting for arrival. We battled together and I overpowered him then, he only won and was able to kill me due to the help from other heroines, though I fought with all of them almost evenly, so I know that I can be strong if I try.

 

Due to my action then, my house fell into ruin and my family became homeless and died shortly afterward.

 

All because of my actions. So, when I got my memories, I was determined to prevent it all at any cost, both for myself and my family.

 

The thing was that, that my family loved me dearly, they were one of the reasons I became lazy and arrogant in the first place as I was allowed to do everything I liked. But my father couldn’t do anything about my banishment and losing my rights as heir as the Emperor intervened in this, he normally wouldn’t but since this was an affair of a Duke’s house, he had to, to maintain the dignity of the nobles.

 

Anyway, I have to think about the future from now. After thinking for some time, I came up with a plan.

 

Most people in these types of situations will try to avoid the plot. Well, at least that’s what I concluded from all those novels I read but it never works out. So I think it’s useless to do that.

 

I’ll go forward my way and deal with all that’s coming straightforwardly, plot or no plot. I won’t shy from interacting with some people without any reason even if they are part of the plot.

 

That’s the best way, or that’s what I think is the best way.

 

While I was thinking those things, I heard a knock on the door.

 

Knock! Knock!

 

From the other side Cindy’s voice came, “Young master, it’s urgent, your parents have called.”.

 

I replied, “Alright, I am coming.”.

 

Right on time! Time to start part 1 of my plan to live a good life.
