The two shops I mentioned were a potion shop and an equipment shop. Now, currently I don’t really need to get the equipment from the equipment shop but only need to get the potions from the potions shop.

I could get the equipment after the vacation, when I would be exploring the dungeon. You see, our academy only allows first years to enter the dungeon after the summer vacation. Before that, they have theory classes regarding dungeon exploration, so as to familiarize the students about the dungeon.

Our academy has two main vacations, the summer break which lasts for 2 months and the winter break which lasts for 1 month. Hence, I have enough time to train my body before the dungeon exploration and yes, the protagonist hasn’t entered a dungeon yet.

Anyway, back to the situation at hand. The reason why I am visiting the equipment store as well is because I don’t want to lose the equipment to someone else.

What I mean is this, yes, the equipment lay waiting for the protagonist until he picked them in the original story, however my actions have caused changes in the story. So, I cannot deny the butterfly effect of my actions.

A situation may arise where the protagonist may visit the shop during the vacation, or someone else can visit the shop and get the equipment.

Both are possible due to butterfly effect or maybe even the shop may decide to close. Now, I know that what I said may not happen and is less likely also there might not be any butterfly effect of my actions.

But I cannot risk it, whatever little chance is there of me not obtaining the equipment, I have to consider it. So, to be safe, I ill buy the equipment now, in this way I won’t have to worry about the equipment gong out of my hand.

Now, the issue is where are the shops. The novel gave a vague description. I have no choice but to rely on that only, hance it may take some time for me to find the shop.

Okay so according to the novel, it should be located somewhere towards the end of the rows of shops and be located at the backside of the shopping district.

I decided to walk to the end row of shops and started from there. It took me about 30 minutes to find them.

As expected, the directions were accurate as even though they were located at the back of the shopping district, their location was towards the middle rows. Anyways, the most important thing is that I found them.

How did I know that those two shops were what I was looking for? Well unlike the shops which had their names written on their signboards, the potion shop had a picture of a potion in a glass bottle with fumes coming out on signboard and on the sign of the equipment shop had a picture of a shield with two swords in a crisscross fashion.

Also, these shops looked battered and worn down. These two huts for the lack of a better term looked like they might collapse any second.

These are not the kind of shops a noble of my standing would visit and even if I weren’t a noble, I wouldn’t have visited these shops if I didn’t know the value they possessed.

Now, why did the signboards of these shops have pictures instead of names? Well, that’s because the owners couldn’t come up with a name, so they decided to call their shops, ‘potion shop’ and ‘equipment shop’ and since those sound stupid, they decided to go with the signs.

This sounds unprecedented levels of stupid I know, but it is what it is and it’s not like me liking or disliking those names would change them.

Anyway, I approached the equipment shop first. This shop was currently run by a young boy, about 12 years old.

It’s unfortunate really, his father died recently and his father was the one who set up this shop and due to his death, this kid had to take over the shop and his mother died at an early age.

Anyway, the one I am seeking his him, not his father. He is a very good craftsman able to do extraordinary crafts but he didn’t really know his value due to the shop’s location.

It’s a good thing that this shop is located at the academy as they don’t have to pay rent after the academy acknowledges them to set up shop, otherwise he would have been in debt.

The academy doesn’t charge the rent in order to make sure that the students have to pay as less as they shop when they shop as not all nobles are rich and studying in the academy is expensive in itself.

Hence the academy stores charge less for all stuff than the outside stores, except for maybe some shady dealers, however even then it’s costly for some people.

But that can’t be helped and getting materials especially for equipment and potions are expensive as they have to be got in dungeons and dungeons are dangerous.

Though clothes, foods etc. found in the shopping district which do not need to be extracted from dungeons are affordable for everyone in the shopping district.

Ah I am digressing again. Anyway, I opened the wooden door of the shop carefully as it looked like, it was about to break.

CREAK!

The door opened with a creaking sound. I saw weapon hangers on the walls but they were empty, the walls itself were cracked.

Inside the shop the open space was very small. So small in fact that it would be difficult to fit 4 people there.

There was a wooden bench on one end, extending from one to another. There was a door behind it, I guess leading to the inner sections of the building.

So, I guess the bench was the counter. This was common for shops in this world, the shopkeepers lived inside their shops for convenience, especially craftsman and potion makers.

Anyway, there wasn’t anyone on the counter. I approached the counter and saw a small bronze bell present there.

I rung the bell.

Ring! Ring!

From inside the store, I heard voice saying, “Coming!” and I heard a lot of scrambling. I guess he didn’t think he would have customers but it’s reasonable to guess that I guess.

The voice was childlike but I guess that’s expected.

After a few seconds a young boy about half my size entered through the door.

He was dressed in a torn white shirt and torn half trousers and was wearing an apron over them. He had white hair and grey eyes and he was sweating profusely.

I guess he was working at the furnace, making stuff.

Seeing me he asked, “We-Welcome, h-how may I help you?”, in a timid voice.

I smiled to put at ease and said, “I am looking to buy some weapons and equipment.”.

Hearing this the boy stood stunned for a moment and then stammered, “Bu-bu-buy?...Cus..Customer?”.

Man, this is difficult to watch, this guy couldn’t even expect a customer to come to his shop. Well, I guess he was mostly living on his father’s savings as after he died, some orders which were for some organizations outside the school stopped.

I smiled as brightly as I could and said, “Yes, I am a customer, so can you shop me your collection?”.

This put the boy out of his daze and he bowed and said, “I-I apologize, I will bring them right away.”.

With that he went inside right away and after some time he came out with two boxes full of stuff.
