I quickly ran up to them and stopped them.

“WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?”

“Sire, she is possessed by a demon! She said you are a heretic!” One of the women explained.

“You don’t murder people over that- Wait-” I just noticed that it was similar to a witch trial.

“Sire, she floated on water. She is a witch.” The other woman cried.

“Shut up.” I rolled my eyes.

“Leanna… how could you?” Finally Historia spoke and even she believed in it. She sounded distraught and betrayed.

“Historia, shut up.”

They all obliged.

“Keshi, take Leanna, help her change into dry clothes.” Keshi obliged and did as was told.

“All of you. It literally doesn’t matter if she calls me a heretic. I don’t care. Also, that trial doesn’t work. Water has a property called buoyancy.”

The crowd looked at me with question marks floating all over their heads.

I picked up a stick and tossed it in water and it started floating as expected.

“The reason this stick is floating on water is because of buoyancy. Water pushes things out. Of course not everything is pushed out but the human body is one of the things that’s pushed out. What you were doing was simply an act of torture. You don’t have to understand all of it but just remember that drowning a person to see whether they’re possessed or not is beyond stupid.”

“Then, sire, why do people drown?” Historia asked in return.

“That’s because water gets into the lungs of humans and that is what kills the person.”

“How is a dead person different from alive? Alive floats but dead people drown?”

Do I have to explain physics and biology to them? That’d take forever.

“That’s too long of an explanation, I’ll explain it at some other time but for now stop doing such nonsensical things under my command at least.”

They all just accepted it. I think it’s because of my position, they are taking care of any opposition by themselves instead of bothering me about it.

I walked inside the hut to see Keshi taking care of Leanna who was wrapped up in the blanket.

“I’m sorry, sire. I shouldn’t have questioned your authority.”

“Considering the kind of things I said outside right now definitely makes me heretic. Anyways, Leanna, you will be coming with me to the Empire of Deem alongside Historia. I need to have one more person who is good with money.”

“It’d be an honor to serve as your bodyguard.”

I just nodded. I had accepted that they would be acting in such a manner. Not that I complained. Controlling them so easily simply meant I’ll be able to save the world and leave without problem. I still want to go back home.

Maybe if I get a lot of money here, I could just retire and live here instead.

“By the way, how does marriage work here?”

“The usual age for nobles to get married is 15. Their marriages are mostly political. It’s not uncommon for big age gaps. Men of higher social status look for younger women while women of higher social status look for younger men. But then again if it’s for political reasons, then they don’t have such freedom with preferences.” Keshi replied.

“I see. Wait- by women… men… you mean multiple spouses?”

“What else could I mean, sire?”

Right. Back in the day, polygamy was quite normal because during child birth women were likely to die because of the fact that medical field was still severely underdeveloped. Houses’ survival meant everything so they allowed polygamy amongst high ranks.

“What about middle and lower class people?”

“Usually monogamy. They can’t afford multiple spouses since they don’t make that kind of money.”

I nodded.

“I’m not royalty. But if I marry into nobility or royalty, would I by default become noble or royal?”

“No, sire. If you marry into royalty, you would be a secondary husband and would be treated below primary royalty. Of course, you’d be given many benefits. But if you marry into nobility then it varies. You might be treated as secondary or there might not be a concept of primary and secondary. Nobility is a lot more flexible than the royal family.”

“How would I be treated in the Empire? I want to make sure I stay safe.”

“Well, since you don’t have any proof, it’s near impossible to even get admission into the Empire. You’d have to either be guaranteed by the royal family or married into nobility. They might see you as a demon disguised as a human if you fail to prove your identity.”

“Makes sense. Can I just pretend to be someone’s husband? How about you, Historia?” Historia and Leanna were sneaking glances at each other while Keshi and I were discussing.

Historia got flustered and shook her head.

“Only if it’s pretend.” She replied and I noticed the sad expression on Leanna’s face.

If I’m reading the room right, the two seem too close to be just friends.

“Keshi, what if I want to marry a man?”

The three girls gasped in shock and scooted away from me.

“SIRE! Don’t say such things!” Historia shouted.

Ah yes. Homophobia. How could I forget that.

“Why not?”

“That would REALLY mean you’re possessed by demons.” Leanna replied and I shrugged.

“Do I look like I care?”

The three were confused but being gay might be repulsive for them so I will let them take it in slowly.

“Historia come with me.” I walked over to a room in one of the corners of the hut. Once Historia was inside, I closed the door.

“You love Leanna, right?”

She gasped again and covered her mouth to not make too loud of a noise.

“Of course not, Sire. How could I, a woman, love another woman?”

You are reading story In my two worlds at novel35.com

“The way you two were staring at each other made me wonder when you two would get a room.”

“No, sire. We could never do something so repulsive.”

“You didn’t deny this time- do you WANT to do things with her?” I scratched the back of my head in confusion.

“Sire, please don’t twist my words.”

“I did nothing. Anyways. Do you trust me?” I asked before plopping on the bed. It stank and was covered in mold and god knows what fluids.

“Somewhat. Yes.”

“Then believe me, Historia, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you loving Leanna.”

She just looked down with a sad expression. Maybe she was thinking about it.

I got up and patted her back.

“If anyone dares hurt you, I will personally make sure they regret even being born. You have every right to love whoever you want and I will always protect your love.”

Well only till I defeat the demon lord because I will leave after that. But I can’t say that yet.

“Can I really love her…?”

“Yes. But for now, let’s just pretend we are engaged. Of course, I don’t have any plans of stopping you from engaging with Leanna. I just want entry into the empire. Go think about it and take your time.” I pushed her out of the room and closed the door.

I will talk to Leanna some other time. I’d be sad if this love story didn’t blossom in my presence. Time for more important things.

Ever since I’ve come here, this world has smelled consistently bad. I hadn’t really thought about it till now because I was constantly doing something but now that I see, these people had really bad hygiene. Even those 3 nobility.

I need to make toothpaste and some toothbrushes. I know the basic idea behind toothpaste is that it provides a basic environment that kills the bacteria in the mouth. I also know sea salt is a good toothpaste replacement but it won’t be a paste. More like salt water. I also need a replacement for toothbrushes. Maybe twigs would do the trick.

I left the hut and cleared my throat to get everyone’s attention. I saw Historia and Leanna holding hands. Repulsive. How could they love each other when I don’t even have a single friend? They look so cute together that I want to separate them. Just kidding… maybe. I’m just that petty.

I poured about a tablespoon of salt into a cup of water and mixed it.

“Everyone wash the insides of your mouth with this at least twice a day for about 5 minutes.”

“Why, sire?” One woman who was holding her children asked.

“Bluntly speaking, all of you smell disgusting. So, what this does is, it cleans your teeth. But it doesn’t happen quickly, It’d take a month or so. But you have to do it everyday before breakfast and after dinner. For now just use your index finger but, all you, find twigs, chew on it and soak it

in clean water for 4 days to soften it up. Use that afterwards. Also start taking baths everyday.”

“Sire, we are peasants. We can’t do that.”

“I’m giving an order right now.” I replied straightforwardly.

“Now I’ve already given you the required knowledge to survive and gather food. I will be leaving for the Empire tomorrow morning. Leanna and Historia will accompany me. Keshi, you will stay here.”

“I would’ve preferred coming with you.”

“I would’ve too but I need them to survive as well.” I totally would’ve loved her coming with me but I need to put aside my crush on her for now.

“The sun is setting, I’m going to sleep. Bye.” I said before walking back into the hut. I walked into the room and tossed the mattress on the floor and laid on the wooden frame of the bed. It was much cleaner.

“Come in.” I answered the knock on the door. It was Historia and Leanna. The two bowed to me.

“Sire. We are here to offer our undying loyalty to you. You allowed two women to be together. Instead of condemning our love, you encouraged Historia who in turn, encouraged me. You’ve accepted me despite committing two most heinous crimes. First, of calling you a heretic and second, for falling in love with a woman.”

Those two seemed like big issues here.

“No problem. I do expect you to work hard.” I replied and she nodded.

“My sword will always protect you.”

I need someone like Leanna in my team. She really questioned me and had enough guts to call me a heretic despite knowing the consequences. I don’t want yes-men or bootlickers in my team. I need people with a spine who can question my judgments.

I walked over to Leanna and leaned close to her ear.

“If I become a king of a country, I will definitely let you two get married. So here are two orders. Don’t die and protect me.” I whispered as I wanted this a secret from Historia.

I moved away and Historia let out a loud sigh of relief.

“I thought Sire had taken a fancy to her.” She laughed it off.

“I see that someone is a jealous type.” I taunted her.

Man, only if I had someone to love. I’m jealous of these two. The two seemed so good together that I wanted to cry.

“Now go get some sleep because we are going to be leaving tomorrow morning. We will be taking 60 days to reach the empire” I said.

“Who said it’d take 60 days, sire?” Historia replied in a confused tone.I was even more confused.

“Hisotria said it’d take 2 months.”

“2 months are 50 days not 60 days. Are you stupid?” Leanna said and was elbowed pretty hard by Historia in guts.

“Don’t talk to Sire like that.”

“No no. I consider you two equal to me so just call me Kara.”

Hold up- I rushed to Keshi’s room and took the pen and notebook and did some calculations.

“Sire?” Keshi was completely confused as to why I just barged into her room like that. Historia

and Leanna followed behind.

Keshi is actually 22 then for my world’s calendar. I took a sigh of relief. In about a year, it’d be totally ok for me to date Keshi then. Yes, that was my biggest concern after finding out that a year on this planet was just 300 days. Not how it affects weather, crops or lifestyle. I have different priorities y’know. I’m a human too with needs. A need for love.

“Hey Keshi, for instance, what if a … say… a 20 year old man asked you out on a date?” I’d be 20 or 21 years old using this world’s calendar. Keshi thinks I’m 17 so she shouldn’t suspect anything.

“Hm? That’s a strangely specific question, sire. Depending on who this man might be, I could say yes. But I’d have to talk to my husbands about it. They’re currently in Eastern Union.”

Husbands? Multiple? Ah right, she is a nobility. I can hear my heart shattering quite clearly.

“Nevermind.” I replied and left the room. I thought about the length of a year wondering whether I should treat people differently and calculate their age in my world’s terms. Maybe they also develop faster but I had no way of knowing that either. It’s a big ethical question because my age is technically 20 here so I should act like one.

The following morning, I walked onto the beach and saw everyone working hard. I think I should look for the last person to join my party here because these people do in fact respect me or at least see me as a decent and kind person, so they’re more likely to be loyal to me. Leanna is physically strong, Historia is good with politics and geography of this world, so, I need someone with good knowledge of economics and accountancy.

“Hey, everyone.” I announced and stood on a wooden crate to elevate myself. “Is there anyone good with accountancy here?”

A woman walked forward and bowed to me.
