Chapter 4: Mana Manipulation, Part 1

In video games there was always a power source the last the player do shit that defies the laws of physics and nature. Or in anime for example Dragon Ball Z, the warriors there use Ki to defeat their enemies, but they don't really explain how exactly they can use that energy. Well, I'm going to tell you how it works so pay attention:

When we talk about energy, we usually think of kinetic or potential energy, but also electromagnetic and nuclear energies. But all these types of energies are just different forms of energy. Actually, this is not a very good explanation because an electron has no mass at all and its speed is close to the speed of light so why they call them particles?

Why am I talking about science? This world is full of magic and mana. That's right, mana! The thing that fuels everything on this planet; every object, animal, plant and even people have mana inside them. It's the energy that animates us. But with enough practice, you can learn to control your own mana.

I also learned a lot about my family situation. My mother is a noblewoman. I'm not familiar with this [Baronet] term, but according to the little knowledge what my dad notes, it seems to be a sort of government worker with a lineage system that administers a local region. People often call them [Lord] or [Master] as well. If I'm not mistaken, it's a nobility system or something. Doesn't explain why I'm in the woods near the outpost.

Baronet is probably the second lowest, but nevertheless, it is the top position in this region. But from the country's point of view, the position should be above the bottom.

—at least, I think that's it.

What do I know? I'm only six months old. I will learn more as time passes by. Until then, I'm going to focus on my training. Well, as much training I get by myself before mum catches me.
Back to dragon ball, practitioners learned how to use Ki in their bodies. My theory is that they channel it through your pineal gland. If you meditate, it's that "high" feeling you get, when you align your chakras, or do certain drugs, or whatever does it for you. It lets you access the metaphysical energy, The Force, or whatever. Saiyans obviously has a much stronger pineal gland than humans, but we can learn, like Krillin.

It's like, the entire universe is a humming electrical network, but we're here in these 3D bodies. The pineal gland allows us to draw energy from this infinite network, so your particular biology is going to determine how much of this "data" you can "download" through your brain, ie, Goku is working with seriously advanced technology, while somebody like Yamcha is using one of those big 1980s cell phones.

So doing a ki blast is just the standard drawing of energy and meditating it out to a pulse blast... But that's just, like plucking an open guitar string... Something like a Kamehameha is when you concentrate and manifest this energy with certain tones, that sort of shapes it. It's like an actual bar chord compared to plucking one open string.

Ki is the energy of all the universe, and your body is an instrument that can channel it into our linear, 3D dimension. The user then uses their imagination and physical uniqueness to create new techniques that are specific to them.

But in this current world, its mana this time and it works sorta different. Mana or arcane refers to the metaphysical energy that flows throughout the Drakyn body. It is a concept that serves as the root of magic and an array of other skills. Think of Mana as a river. Mana is the river of energy flowing in a person’s body. Everybody has mana, but practitioners use mana as a source of energy to bend the elements and use for spells. There are areas in the body where Mana is plentiful and abundant. When these points are blocked by knocking, a practitioner is unable to use their mana effectively.

Mana can also be obstructed, or unstable depending on the person’s mental, physical, and or emotional imbalance. A weak will cause problems with the practitioner's mana. Too much mana causes a person to lose control of themselves and they may go berserk.

A practitioner's mana is determined by their birth. If a child is born with high mana, then they will be able to use magic. They will have a better connection to the spirits and become a great mage. On the other hand, if a child is born with low mana, then they will not develop much magic.

Mana comes in two types. External Type: Used for attack. This Mana is used in the form of a blast to affect surrounding materials.

Internal Type: Used for defense and regeneration. This Mana is used to strengthen parts of the body during battle or to speed up regeneration. The book claims that it's bread and butter for Receivers to fight continuously for a period of days without getting tired or unfit for battle.

If you have weak mana in your body, you can still build it up. Think of it as a muscle, also... Man, this is more complicated than I thought it would be.

 

Repeatedly breaking the mana center in the body down through total exhaustion of one's body and their mana pool also animals in this world have magic power in them even though it's of little amount, In addition, magic power of animals and monsters carry a peculiar property, that is, we take their magic power every time we defeat them, strengthening ourselves.

Of course, the growth will be faster if you fight a strong monster, yet on top of being hugely risky, there's only a few that can be hunted so the book doesn't recommend this method.

Mana is connected by genetics as well. If you have parents who have high mana, the likelihood that your body has high mana increases. If you have a father with a low mana, then the chances of your body having a low mana are higher.

There are many factors that influence the amount of mana in the body.

Also race plays a factor as well, but in gamer terms. Drakyn (humans) balanced have no strength but no weakness, and with their valor, optimism, and versatility have led them to build some of the world's greatest kingdoms.

The Gon value physical power and combative skill are treasured among the. They seek to make themselves strong, capable, and able to overcome any challenge, and use their might for the good of others. Unlike their ancestors the dwarves the Gon are tallest race in the world. They represent the spirit of the earth and metal and prove to be the most trustworthy and reliable of all the races. They are a people of warriors, but also of engineers, farmers, workers, and craftsmen.

The Elezen bequeathed with the beauty of the elves. They have long been known for their wisdom and artistic talents. Their hair is silky, thick, and dark. They are often noted for their gracefulness. Pointy ears and pointy noses distinguish them from other races. Unlike the Gon, Elezen excel in the fields of engineering, agriculture, and woodworking. The elements of water and ice are considered sacred for them.

Trow are the most beast-like race with the natural element of Air.

Now with strange biology out of the way. I should look for another book that would explain mana in a more practical sense. Bingo! I found one in mum's library. Oh boy. This book also explained a couple of questions for me.
