Romeo yawned as he made his way to the toilet. He had taken up Juliano’s bed and Juliano has yet to complain about it since he enjoyed the company and the odd conversations they had.

As he reached for the handle, he heard sobbing. Looking around to see if anyone was around him, he saw nothing and listened closely.

‘Why does it sound like Halo?’ He wondered.

Pushing the door open, he frowned when he saw Halo sitting in the bath.

Halo didn’t look over at him and Romeo could see and hear that he was crying.

He walked over to the toilet and emptied his bladder. He washed his hands then walked over to the bath thinking, ‘I’m sure he heard me, why didn’t he look up?’

“Halo?” He called, but he didn’t answer, he just continued crying.

He knelt down and forced Halo to sit up and paled when he felt how cold his body was and how red his face and eyes were. “Halo, what the fuck?”

Halo stopped crying, but it didn’t last long. He began crying again and pushed Romeo aside.

Romeo placed his hands in the water and felt that it was cold to the touch. He stood up and picked Halo up, then wrapped him in a towel. As he passed the door, he grabbed Halo’s robe, then made his way to the bedroom.

He placed Halo down on the chair by the dressing table, then connected the hair dryer and dried his hair. He blew air every now and again against the towel to warm him up.

Placing the hairdryer down. He turned the chair around and got on his knees. He wiped Halo down, making sure he was dry, then got clothes out for him and dressed him.

Halo was still sobbing, and it looked like he was doing it unconsciously.

Romeo carried him to the bed, placed him down, and wrapped him up tightly. He climbed on the bed and hugged Halo. He kissed him on the forehead saying, “Alright, alright. You’re all warm now. Go back to sleep.”

It was about twenty minutes later when Halo gave into exhaustion.

Usually Halo was the first to wake up, but Juliano, who had gotten used to Romeo, woke up early and not because it was school.

He wandered around the house and looked at his parents cuddling.

Feeling jealous, he walked up to the bed and shook Romeo, asking, “Daddy, what’s the time?”

Romeo groaned, saying, “How am I supposed to know?”

“Look,” Juliano said, holding up Halo’s phone.

Romeo glared at the screen he could barely see. After he saw it was seven already, he quickly jumped up. “Fuck, you’re going to be late!”

Juliano stared at his father and rubbed his eyes. “You curse too early.”

Romeo picked him up and walked him to the bathroom. “Boy, don’t play with me. I told them you’d be at school at seven thirty. With it being a private school, your ass better hurry and don’t give me any shit.”

Nothing besides the total he’ll get was going through his mind. Romeo had already given him a thousand dollars, and it’s like he didn’t even care about slowing down on the curse words.

Juliano brushed his teeth, had a quick shower, then Romeo dressed him up in a maroon tracksuit.

When he looked at his father, he asked, “Why are we matching?”

“Shut up and eat. You’ve got ten minutes left,” he said.

They arrived at the school, and Juliano was nervous. He looked out of the window and asked, “Can’t we call in sick? I think I’m going to poo myself.”

Romeo climbed out, ignoring him, then dragged his ass all the way to the office.

Juliano sat outside nervously. Instead of going back to his old school, Romeo forced Halo to place him in a private school that he liked. He didn’t want their son going to a public school just in case there were drugs circulating and when Halo heard his reasons; he was sure that there were drugs in Juliano’s previous school.

The bell rang at eight, and all the noise disappeared into the classrooms.

Juliano frowned and looked towards the office door.

Romeo walked out ten minutes later smiling with the man, then looked down at his son. He knelt down and asked, “Why are your lips hanging?”

“You’re late,” Juliano complained.

The principal laughed. He looked at the secretary and told her to get Juliano’s things ready and escort him to class.

Juliano reluctantly let go of Romeo’s hand, who was smirking.

“Don’t be sad, you’ll see your daddy after school,” she said to him.

Juliano looked up at the woman and frowned. He remained silent as she spoke all the way to the kindergarten classes.

“Miss Simone, here is your new baby,” she said excitedly.

Miss Simone smiled at Juliano, “And who is this handsome boy?”

Juliano looked at her and grew embarrassed. Looking away at the children who were staring at him, he mumbled, “Romeo Washington.”

She smiled and said, “Well, come on in Mr Washington, let me introduce you to your friends.

She turned to the class as the secretary left and said, “Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to your new friend Romeo.”

The children greeted excitedly and started laughing.

Miss Simone knelt down and said to him, “There is a seat open next to Anthonio and next to Almera. Who do you want to sit next to?”

Juliano looked around and saw the two empty seats. After a moment of deliberating, he said, “I’ll go sit next to Anthonio.”

She nodded her head and let him go.

Juliano sat down next to him and forced a smile.

Anthonio looked at Juliano, then scoffed.

Juliano frowned and asked, “Should I sit somewhere else?”

Anthonio raised a brow. “Don’t expect me to be your friend.”

Juliano rolled his eyes and went quiet. He was already nervous now this person was being rude.
