Juliano stared at his father as he carried him. “Where’s daddy? I’m hungry.”

Romeo looked at him confused, “Didn’t your ass eat?”

Juliano pulled his ear. “You didn’t give me food or money.”

Romeo stopped in his steps, stunned. Looking at Juliano, he asked, “Then what did your ass eat?”

“The boy next to me gave me his apple and fish fingers. He said he doesn’t like them, so he gave them to me,” Juliano complained.

Romeo hugged him. “Sorry, son, I’m not used to this fathering thing. Wanna go eat at Burger Queen?”

Juliano nodded his head, “Yes, and you better get me chicken nuggets.”

Sitting down to eat, Romeo looked at Juliano, who was gobbling down his food and said, “Listen, son, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Juliano looked up at him, “Is it about daddy?”

Romeo raised a brow. “Yes, he isn’t feeling well. That’s why he isn’t here.”

Juliano nodded his head slowly and sighed. He looked at Romeo and said, “Is he okay now?”

“Getting there, but don’t worry, okay? He just needs time to recover from losing the baby, and he doesn’t want to show you how he looks when he cries.” Romeo explained.

Juliano put the burger down and looked at him. He frowned then asked, “Am I going to stay with grandpa again?”

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“When daddy’s upset, he sends me to live with grandpa until he is better.” He explained.

Romeo shook his head. “No. You have me now, so I’ll be looking after you.”

Juliano smirked. “You already forgot to feed me.”

Romeo rolled his eyes. “Boy, just eat.”

“Aren’t you going to eat?” Juliano asked him.

He shook his head, “I’ll eat with Halo. I don’t want him to feel left out.”

Juliano nodded his head.

“So tell me more about your friend,” he said.

Staring at him, he said, “That boy is not my friend. He was so rude, and he didn’t even want to give me some of his food and it’s not like I asked him to.”

He shoved a nugget in his mouth and complained, “I was sitting alone minding my business outside when he walked over and said, ‘Why did you tell the teacher I don’t want to be your friend? Did I say so? And even if I did, why do you care?’”

“That boy sounds like he has issues,” Romeo said.

“He does!” Juliano said and burst out laughing.

Romeo walked in with a tray in hand into Halo’s room.

Halo was covered with a blanket as he sat on the bed, and only his face was showing.

Sitting down on the edge beside him, Romeo said, “I put Juliano to sleep.”

Halo glanced over at him and asked in a hoarse voice, “How was his first day back?”

Romeo smiled. “I forgot to give him lunch.”

Halo sighed, then chuckled, “Did he moan?”

“The first thing he asked was where were you because I can’t look after him right,” he said and lied down.

Halo stared down at him. “You didn’t even give him money?”

He shook his head. “He’s taken enough of my money.”

Halo looked away, feeling guilty. “I’m sorry for forcing you to do this.”

“You are not forcing me to do anything,” Romeo said. He sat up and hugged Halo and said, “Juliano is my son too and I want to do this.”

Halo nodded slowly and leaned against him. He sighed, then started crying again.

Romeo didn’t want him crying, so he cupped his face and kissed his cheek, then his lips.

In between the kisses he said, “Stop your crying and have something to eat.”

Halo sucked in a deep breath saying, “Romeo, I don’t want to be like this, but I can’t stop. My heart is broken. Our baby, I lost our baby, and I wanted to hold her. She would have looked so beautiful and now I can’t even have another child.”

Romeo sighed. All of this was partially his fault. He didn’t know that Halo wasn’t supposed to fall pregnant again or well he shouldn’t have.

Looking at him, he said, “There is no guarantee that you can’t have another baby. All Dr Martin said was that you’d have to start the process all over again in order to make your body strong. You should stop blaming yourself and get better so that you can look after Juliano. He’s feeling lonely without you.”

Halo pushed him playfully and said, “He has you now.”

“He does, but I don’t know shit!” Romeo said and sighed.

Halo chuckled. He looked at Romeo, then wrapped his arms around his neck. “Meo, I want another baby.”

“Then how about we try a surrogate? I don’t trust the process to work so fast?” He suggested.

Halo shook his head. “No, I wanna carry my own children.”

Romeo pulled his arms loose and looked at him. “And I don’t want to see you get hurt, Halo, and you know it.”

He stared at Halo sternly when he saw he had something to say.

Halo shut his lips then pouted

Romeo smiled and kissed him on his lips. “Let’s eat, okay?”

Halo looked at the food. It looked appetising, but he wasn’t hungry. Looking back at Romeo, he met his stern gaze, then opened his mouth, letting him feed him.

Romeo got Halo to take a bath, then put him to bed. Only five minutes went by then Halo had his hands exploring Romeo’s body and Romeo wasn’t objecting.

As Romeo came inside Halo, he dropped on him and kissed his shoulder. Smiling he said, “Damn, I missed this “

Halo nodded in agreement. Looking at the bedroom door, he asked, “Why did you leave the door open?”

Romeo frowned. He looked at the door but couldn’t remember if he closed it. Smirking, he said, “Maybe Juliano was watching us.”

Halo hit him on the shoulder smiling, “Don’t say that, just now he decides he wants to be gay like us.”

“And there’s a problem with that?” He asked.

“Yes! I haven’t seen or met a decent man in years,” he hissed.

Romeo bit Halo’s shoulder playfully, “I’m not that bad and I’m sure you think the same about that damn cop.”

Halo sighed. Romeo really didn’t like that man, but he kept bringing him up. “I won’t see him again Romeo, you can stop worrying.”

Romeo was silent. If he could, he would definitely kill Anthony, but then Halo would know it was him.

Pushing himself back inside Halo, he asked, “I’m really curious. Who fucks you better, me or him?”

Halo didn’t need to think about it. Romeo was his go-to and whereas Anthony was just there to fill the void.

“You should know the answer to that,” he said.

Romeo chuckled as he kissed down Halo’s spine. Even after all these years, he was still good, but it’s only because he guaranteed Halo would be his, even after his death.
