Juliano looked around the play area. When he finally spotted Antonio, he rushed over. Antonio had been down the whole day and, even when the teacher spoke to him, he ignored her.

During free play, Antonio was in the block area, wiping away his tears. He didn’t want to bother him, but now he wanted to play and even though Antonio seemed annoyed by him, he still humoured Juliano from time to time.

He sat down beside him under the jungle gym and said, “You’ve been upset all day. What happened?”

Juliano looked at him, then frowned, “Go away.”

“No! I left you alone the whole morning. I want to play now,” Juliano said.

Antonio looked at him and thought about this morning. He couldn’t recall getting annoyed by this boy who was forced to be his friend.

“What do you want?” Antonio asked after wiping his cheeks.

Juliano leaned towards him and smiled. “Why are you crying?”

Antonio glared at him. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

Juliano sighed and sat properly. He placed his hands between his crossed legs and said, “Alright fine, then I’ll just tell you something then.”

Antonio raised a brow and said nothing.

Turning back to Antonio, he said, “My daddy lost my sister.”

“What?” Antonio asked, confused.

Juliano nodded his head, “Mn, there was lots of blood on the bed and the floor. They said she wasn’t strong enough to stay in his stomach.”

“But daddy’s can’t have babies,” Antonio said.

Juliano smiled, “But I came from him. There are videos and pictures.”

Sighing, Antonio said, “My daddy too.”

“The one with the blue hair?” He asked. He saw Antonio being yelled at this morning by Niam and thought that was what must have upset him.

Antonio nodded his head. “He said if I don’t like Nylah’s father, then I can go live with mine, but I don’t want to.”

Juliano looked at Antonio surprised, so this Antonio was his almost-brother, or who else is named Antonio and has a sister named Nylah?

Smiling, Juliano said, “Then come and live with me and my two daddies.”

Antonio was surprised. “You have two daddies too?”

He nodded his head. “Yes, but they like to fight, so I don’t know.”

Antonio chuckled, “Okay, I stopped crying.”

Juliano jumped on him and pecked him on the lips. Antonio pushed him away and wiped his mouth. He glared at Juliano and asked, “Eww, why did you kiss me?”

Juliano shrugged, “My daddy gives me one hundred kisses, then I feel better.”

Antonio sighed. He dropped to the ground and said as he looked at the sky peeking through the jungle gym, “I don’t like you, Romeo.”

Juliano grinned, he lied down beside me and said, “It’s fine, we’re still friends.”

“Mn,” Antonio hummed and closed his eyes.

*After school*

Juliano was leaning against Antonio as they walked out through the door. Miss Simone was standing up front, then told them to sit down and wait for their parents.

Before Juliano could sit down, he saw Romeo leaning against the fence, looking bored. He grinned and said to Antonio, “Tonio, my daddy is here. Do you want to say hello?”

He looked up at him and shook his head. “No.”

Juliano forced him up and said, “Miss Simone, my daddy is here. Can I take Antonio to say hi to my daddy?”

Simone looked at the fence and saw Romeo. She smiled and nodded her head. “Okay, but you better come back, Antonio.”

Antonio was dragged off, and when they stopped by the gate, Romeo knelt down and stared at him. Juliano hugged him and said, “Daddy, this is Antonio.”

Romeo smirked. “Ah, the boy that you keep telling me about.”

Juliano hid his face. He knew he always spoke nonsense, complaining about Antonio.

Looking at him he said, “Nice to meet you Antonio, I’m Juliano’s other daddy Romeo.”

Antonio stared at them, confused. Juliano tapped Romeo’s chest when he remembered, “Oh yes, daddy, I’m Romeo at school, not Juliano.”

Romeo chuckled, “That’s right, sorry Antonio.”

Antonio looked at Juliano, who he knew as Romeo, and asked, “Why do you have the same name as your daddy?”

Juliano kissed his father’s cheek and said, “Because I look like my daddy.”

“Rome?” Justin called from the side, confused.

The three speaking turned to him, and Antonio groaned. Romeo stood up and stared at Justin and greeted, “Yo, Justin.”

They smirked, then hugged. “Damn, it’s been years,” Justin said and looked at his friend.

Romeo nodded. “Too long. How have you been?”

“Good, good,” he said. His gaze trailed down to Antonio, and he asked, “Where is your bag?”

“Where’s my father?” Antonio asked.

Justin grew angry and said, “Just go get it, please. I don’t want to get into it with you.”

Antonio grumbled and went back to get his bag.

Juliano squeezed Romeo’s hand and glared at Justin.

Justin looked down at him and smiled. “Shit, your boy looks just like you. How did the surgery go? When did he start school here?”

“Boy, don’t cuss in front of him. He’ll extort money out of me,” Romeo said, laughing, and picked Juliano up.

“I can’t believe that Halo gave birth to him. How did he?” He asked.

Romeo looked at him and said, “How about we continue this conversation over the weekend? Juliano’s been waiting to visit Niam’s kids.”

Justin sighed. “Well, I’ll let him know.”

He shook his head. “How about we meet outside, rather? I don’t think I want to go there if you look like that just from looking at your face.”

“Just imagine, since Halo reentered Anthony’s life, it’s like I don’t exist, worse his kid is acting up,” he said as Antonio stopped beside him.

Romeo looked at him and asked, “Antonio, what do you think of spending the day with Juliano at the park?”

Antonio looked up at him and asked, “Isn’t his name Romeo?”

Juliano pressed his foot against Antonio’s shoulder and said, “See you tomorrow.”

He turned to Romeo and whispered, “Daddy, let’s go. Antonio isn’t happy.”

Romeo nodded. He had picked it up right when Justin showed up. He looked back at Justin and said, “I’ll see you around.”

“Do you still have the same number?” He asked.

He shook his head. “Na, I’ll let Halo contact Detective Rowen.”

Justin nodded, but found it strange. Romeo wasn’t the type to be around someone’s ex.

When they left, Justin looked down at Justin, then rolled his eyes. He started walking, ignoring that he was there.

This was what Antonio hated. His father wasn’t around, and he was forced to live with Niam and his boyfriend. Justin ignored him ninety percent of the time. The other ten? He’d pretend in front of Niam. Nylah saw it too, but what could she do?
