Halo walked into the hospital room and saw that Romeo was asleep while Juliano was tangling his fingers in his hair.
He looked over at Halo when he walked in and smiled.
It’s been three days since he was found and brought into the hospital and Juliano barely spoke, but at least he responded.
He turned to face Halo and hugged him. “How are you feeling?”
“Fine,” Juliano answered with a sigh.
Halo kissed him on the head, then looked at Romeo and said, “Your father looks so boring when he is asleep.”
“When are we going home?” Juliano asked.
He didn’t enjoy being here with all the nurses who looked at him oddly and forced smiles. Halo and Romeo couldn’t stay here around the clock because they were in the way of the doctors.
When Juliano opened his eyes after they put him in induced sleep, he cried when he saw his parents. He cried so hard because he missed them, because he was scared and because he was hurt.
Halo and Romeo didn’t force him to tell them what happened, but Juliano told them everything. Luckily, the detective on his case and the social work was there, so they got everything they needed except for how Juliano escape or who helped him escape.
“Just a few more days until the police catch those bad people who did bad things to you,” Halo answered, hugging him.
Juliano’s gaze trailed to Romeo, who was asleep. He frowned and asked, “But didn’t daddy kill them?”
“Shhh,” Halo said and sat him upright and placed his finger on his lips. He looked around to see if there was anyone standing outside the room and luckily there wasn’t.
Turning his attention back to Juliano, he said sternly, “Don’t you ever bring that up and I know your father told you to keep quiet when he saved you.”
Juliano grew scared. He had never seen Halo look at him like this. His eyes started tearing up, then Halo shoved his face into his chest as he started crying.
Romeo groaned awake and turned over. He looked at Halo and saw that he was angry. “Just let him ask. He was bound to find out, eventually.”
Halo glared over at him. He wasn’t only angry at Juliano, but at Romeo and the people who kidnapped their son.
Juliano feared Romeo, but he seemed far safer than Halo was right now who scared him.
He climbed off of Halo and hugged Romeo. Romeo hugged him back and smiled. “How are you doing, baby boy?”
“I want to go home daddy, I don’t like it here,” he said.
Romeo sighed, “I’m sure daddy told you we have to stay here for a few more days.”
“I just want to go home,” he said and started sobbing into Romeo’s chest.
Romeo looked at Halo and could see the sadness in his eyes. He sighed and said to Halo, “We need to do this tonight. I’m losing my mind too.”
Halo nodded his head, agreeing.

Getting dressed in all black, Romeo looked at Halo and asked, “What are you thinking about?”
Halo looked up from his shoes at him and saw that Romeo was finished and just putting on gloves. “Nothing much. With everything that happened here, I’m thinking of moving back to Poland.”
“Poland?” Romeo repeated.
Halo nodded his head, he stretched his body and said, “I already knew I was pregnant with Juliano when I confronted you about Niam. I left the country to go live there in one of my father’s private homes. I think it’s time that I go back there and start anew with Juliano.”
Romeo just stared at him as he spoke. It wasn’t a bad idea, but he couldn’t leave with them. He had been thinking along the same lines and wasn’t sure how to bring it up before, but now, “How about Canada?”
“Why Canada?” Halo asked him.
“Because I can’t live with you if you’re if you are in Poland and I don’t think Juliano will be happy with you taking him from me,” he said.
Halo nodded his head in agreement then asked, “Does this have something to do with the mafia?”
“Mn, the offer has been on the table for three years now and I think it’s time I take it,” he said.
“I’ll think about it,” Halo said as he side-eyed him.
Romeo chuckled. “It’s time to go.”
Halo nodded his head and followed him out. They climbed into a black car that Halo had never seen before. Romeo started the car and drove off.
Halo took in a deep breath and said, “I never thought that something like this would happen. It’s not even someone from the mafia.”
Romeo sighed. “It’s that fucking school that hired her crazy ass.”
Halo turned to him and asked, “Why did you kill her?”
Romeo already explained the entire story to him, but Halo seemed to not understand. He glanced at him, then said, “I did it for us, Halo. Nicola would have killed you, and that was what I was worried about. I’m most certain that if she was alive, you would be where she is now.”
“But our son…” He started.
“It already happened and something was going to happen to either of you and we should be happy that he is alive and we wouldn’t be living the life we are living now,” he said.
Halo took in a deep breath and said, “I’m done blaming you, Romeo, so you can stop worrying.”
Romeo took in a deep breath, saying, “Even if you don’t blame me, I feel that all of this happened because of me. This shouldn’t have happened to Juliano and even if I try to convince myself, I just can’t help but feel that he is being treated the way I was.”
“What do you mean?” Halo asked as he looked at him.
“Shit happened to me when I was young and now Juliano?” He said, questioning himself.
Halo reached over and wiped his tears away. Pulling on Romeo’s cheeks, he said, “You have to be strong, Meo.”
Romeo smiled. He looked at Halo and said, “I think you’re strong enough for the two of us now.”
