“Romeo, Romeo,” someone called in the distance.

Lifting his hand, he looked out towards the water he smiled. Getting up, he ran toward the girl, calling his name.

She laughed when he came running and started running away.

He stopped and smirked as he shook his head. “Lilith, didn’t you call me? Why are you running away?”

“The water’s cold, and I don’t trust you!” She yelled.

He stalked after her, then broke into a jog. Catching her, he fell to the ground. Rolling around in the wet sand, he placed kisses on her cheeks, then shoulder and said, “You’re not getting away from me.”

Finally breaking free from his hold, she got up and ran away, but he was soon by her side again.

They looked at their group of friends and Andrea, one of Lilith’s friends, said, “The two of you are so cute. I wish my boyfriend was as romantic as Romeo is.”

Lilith hugged him from the side and said, “I know, right?”

Juliano grinned down at her asking, “I thought you didn’t trust me.”

She stood on her toes, letting him kiss her.

“Are y’all wearing matching clothes for the spring formal?” Tessa asked.

Lilith looked at her friends with a glare. They knew he hadn’t asked her yet, and she was upset about it and vented out to them.

Juliano frowned. Lilith asked him not too long ago about their outfits, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to go. The spring formal was two weeks away and even if he wanted to go, it wasn’t with Lilith.

Juliano sat down by his friends and the other girls’ partners and said nothing.

Lilith and everyone looked at him. They had been dating since they were fourteen, so that made it four years now, but Lilith was still unsure about Juliano. He was mysterious and although he was loving; he kept to himself when it mattered.

They were all eating and talking when suddenly someone called, “Juliano!”

The others didn’t care because it was far and they didn’t know a Juliano, but Juliano turned around to look who it was and when he saw that beautiful girl; he smiled and stood up.

He waved his hands crazily, catching everyone by surprise.

The girl ran towards him, then he noticed that there was a second girl with the one he knew.

They weren’t dressed for the beach, but they were wearing dresses.

He started laughing and said, “For fuck’s sake, this is the first time I see you wearing a dress and it’s got flowers.”

The girl he was talking to was named Jaiyana, and you could say that she was related to him.

She walked up to him and punched him hard in the stomach and grabbed his hair as he bent over, hugging his stomach. Looking into his eyes she said, “I missed you too, you motherfucker.”

Lilith got up and pushed Jaiyana out of the way. Glaring at her, she asked, “Who are you, and why did you hurt him?”

The other girl walking with Jaiyana pushed Lilith back and glared down at her as she fell to the ground. “Who the fuck are you?”

“Okay, okay, wait before there are any misunderstandings,” Juliano said as he stood straight after helping Lilith off the sand.

The girl with Jaiyana rolled her eyes and stared at them.

Jaiyana smirked as she looked at Juliano.

Their friends also had their attention. Looking between them, he said, “Lilith, this is my godsister.”

Lilith stared at Jaiyana, waiting to hear her name, but it didn’t come.

The girl beside Jaiyana held her hand out to Juliano, saying, “And I’m a princess. If we’re on the beach, where the heck are we going to fuck? There’s no privacy here.”

Juliano smirked and nodded his towards the oversized blanket everyone was sitting on saying, “Your pick, princess, there’s the blanket and then there are the chairs or the backseat of my car.”

Jaiyana smirked, looking at him she said, “I can I talk to you?”

“Tsk, you’re going to leave me here with them?” She asked.

Jaiyana looked at the girl that came with her and nodded. She took Juliano by the arm and they walked off.

Everyone felt lost except for the other girl. She pouted and went to sit on one of the free chairs.

One of the single guys, Damien, walked over to her and said, “Hi, is princess your real name?”

She scoffed. “No, that’s just what everyone calls me.”

“I’m Damien, Romeo’s best friend,” he introduced himself, holding out his hand.

She looked out towards Jaiyana and Juliano and asked, “Who the hell is Romeo?”

Damien looked at her, confused. He pointed his thumb over his shoulder and said, “My friend.”

“Oh… right, I forgot his government name,” she said, brushing it off.

Damien looked at her and asked, “What about you? What’s your name?”

She smiled at him. “I’m Harlyn.”

“You’re not from here, are you?” He asked.

She shook her head. “No, America. I’m just here to visit with my girlfriend.”

“Girlfriend?” Lilith asked.

Harlyn looked at her, then at Damien, and nodded her head.

Damien introduced everyone to her, and when he was done, Lilith asked, “What did you mean by what you said earlier on?”

“What?” Harlyn asked.

“You know? About where you will have sex?” She trailed off.

Harlyn raised a brow asking, “Why does it matter?”

Damien smiled. He knew what Lilith was getting at, and to ease the tension, he said, “Lilith and Romeo are together.”

“Together how?” She questioned.

“We’re dating,” Lilith said confidently.

Harlyn was confused. Frowning, she asked, “But I heard that he’s like his parents.”

“What?” Damien asked. He easily figured out what she was talking about and soon everyone else had realised what she was saying.

Lilith was confused. “What do you mean?”

Harlyn realised she had said something she shouldn’t have and went quiet.

Juliano and Jaiyana returned, and they could tell that something was off.

Juliano looked at Lilith and wrapped his arm around her shoulder as he asked, “Why do you look like you are about to cry?”

Jaiyana looked at her girlfriend and raised a brow. They were standing by her, so she knew Harlyn must have said something and asked, “What did you do?”

Harlyn sucked in air and said, “I might have mentioned that Juliano is like us?”

“What do you mean?” He asked.

She looked at him, and so did the others.

Jaiyana turned to him, then back at Harlyn, and said, “You and your big mouth. Why do you say shit when you don’t listen, right?”

“What are you talking about?” Juliano asked.

“I might have mentioned that you are like your parents, but I didn’t think that she’d interpret it like that,” Jaiyana explained, feeling guilty.

Juliano raised a brow, then laughed and said, “Don’t worry about it.”

“Don’t worry about it? She just said you are gay,” Lilith screeched.

Juliano’s eyes widened. He didn’t expect her to say that.

He pulled his arm back and said as he looked at her, “And as you can hear, that is just a misunderstanding.”

“How is it a misunderstanding?” She asked as her tears fell.

Jaiyana saw the glare forming in his eyes from anger and quickly said, “I meant he has a bad temper, not that he was gay.”

Lilith had a frown on her face. She knew about their tempers, even their friends knew, but they had yet to see it in Romeo.

She was still crying, and she was confused. Had it really been a misunderstanding?

“Let’s go,” Jaiyana said, tugging on his arm.

Juliano looked down at her, then nodded.

He grabbed his things while he tried to calm his anger.

“Romeo,” Lilith called to him, but he stalked off with the two girls. When they were in the parking lot, Jaiyana turned Harlyn around and slapped her across the face.

Holding her cheek, she asked, “What was that for?”

Pointing a finger at her, Jaiyana warned, “Don’t give me that shit. You know your ass is wrong for talking about other people’s business. Worse, you got it wrong.”

“I didn’t mean to,” Harlyn said, feeling wronged.

“Just shut up from now on,” Jaiyana said, and shoved her into the car.

Turning to Juliano, she said, “I’m really sorry about that.”

Looking at her he smiled. “That was a close call, wasn’t it?”

“What are you going to do now?” She asked.

He shook his head. “I’ll see you.”
