Juliano pulled up to the school. An hour had passed since the spring formal had started. He didn’t want to listen to the boring speeches or for the awards ceremony.

Climbing out of his jeep, he looked ahead and saw that there were people walking about and even a few making out.

He took out his phone to see if Damion had answered his message but he didn’t and it didn’t matter.

Walking in, he winced. The music was too loud, and the lights were flashing a bit too much.

Standing with his hands in his pockets, he looked around the hall, searching for his group of friends.

From the drinks table, a boy saw him and smiled. He placed his drink down and walked up to Juliano nervously with a smile.

“Excuse me,” he called.

Juliano turned to him, confused, then smiled, “Hey.”

“Hi,” he greeted nervously, and looked down.

Juliano smiled. This wasn’t new to him and just from the greeting, he knew what this boy was going to say to him.

“Can I help you with something?” He asked.

The boy looked at him, saying, “If you are looking for your friends, they are around here, but they’re separate.”

Juliano was surprised that it wasn’t like how he thought. Thinking about it, he asked, “What do you mean?”

The boy smiled at him. “How about we talk somewhere else? It’s too loud here.”

He nodded his head and followed him out into the hallway.

Juliano stared at him and asked, “Where are we going?”

“To the nurse’s office,” he said with a smile.

Closing the door behind him, the boy said, “I don’t know if you know me, but my name is Zachery.”

Staring at him, he nodded. “It’s nice to meet you, Zach.”

He blushed and looked down as he switched on the lights. Turning to Juliano, he said, “So about your friends. They’re not cool anymore.”

He looked at him, confused.

Zach continued, “And everyone knows what you told your friends… I do, too.”

Juliano sighed. He ran a frustrated hand over his face. ‘No wonder they were staring at me the whole time.’

“Oh, but don’t worry. The one who told everyone received backlash because what happened to you isn’t something to be joked or spoken about,” Zach said, as he saw the irritated look on Juliano’s face.

“Romeo?” He called.

Juliano looked at him surprised, “Why are you telling me all of this?”

“Because you looked like you didn’t know,” he answered.

“Yeah, I didn’t and I think I would have felt better not knowing,” he said.

Lowering his head, he said, “I’m sorry for overstepping my boundaries. I just didn’t want you to be clueless.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine. I came only for the sake of my fathers,” he said.

Zach looked at him and asked, “Are you really moving back to America?”

“Yeah,” he answered.

Zach took in a deep breath and walked up to him. Looking into his eyes, he said, “There’s something else I need to tell you.”

Juliano frowned, “I’m listening.”

Zach looked down at his hands and said, “I like you. It’s been almost ten years since I’ve fallen in love with you.”

Juliano was surprised. He smirked, then asked as he stepped forward, “So you confessed your feelings with what intention?”

Zach struggled to hold Juliano’s gaze and started trembling as he came closer. “I just, I just wanted to tell you. I didn’t want to be stuck on someone who’d leave.”

“Why didn’t you tell me this before?” He asked as he circled around Zach with a smirk.

“You, you’re no more with Lilith, and I didn’t want to break up a happy couple,” Zach said.

Juliano chuckled as he stopped behind him. He placed his hands on Zach’s hips and moved closer to his neck. He placed a kiss on the right side and whispered, “So you just figured that I’m gay?”

He shook his head quickly as he felt shivers from the kiss, “No, no, I, just thought that you’d be open to accepting my feelings because of your parents.”

Juliano chuckled, wrapping his arms around Zach’s waist. He hugged him and said, “I’m a man with many mysteries. You wouldn’t want to be involved with me and thank you for liking me.”

Zach turned around in the hug and looked into his eyes. He wrapped his arms around Juliano’s neck.

Juliano immediately grew uncomfortable, but he didn’t let it show. He stared into Zach’s eyes, asking, “What do you want to do?”

He lowered his right and stopped at his manhood. Massaging the area, he said, “I want to do many things, but we only have tonight. I’ll let you do what you want to me.”

Juliano stared into his eyes. The uncomfortable feeling he felt before disappeared. He nodded his head, then went back to the door and locked it.

He walked over to a bed with Zach, took off his belt and tied Zach’s hands up. He made sure that he wasn’t uncomfortable and said as he looked into his eyes, “You can do anything but touch me.”

Zach nodded his head and closed his eyes. He was willing to give himself up to Juliano, and he didn’t need to know why he didn’t want him to touch him. All he wanted was to be with the man he fantasised about.”

“What took you so long to get here?” Damion asked him.

Juliano stared at his friend and shook his head. “I ran into someone and we were talking.”

Damion wrapped his arm around him and picked up a strange smell that he knew all too well but he would not ask about it.

“Where’s everyone?” He asked.

“Man screw them, let’s get out of here,” Damion said.

Juliano looked at him, confused, but didn’t say much. Sighing, he said, “I wanna talk to Lilith.”

Looking at his friend, Damion said, “Well don’t bother, she’s here with someone else and it’s got nothing to do with us.”

Juliano nodded his head and looked back at the entrance as they were walking back. Zach was looking at him, and just then, Lilith walked out of the door and stood on the steps beside Zach, staring at him.

Juliano frowned but turned back and walked over to his car as Damion got into his.

‘Looks like I don’t have to worry about old ties.’ He thought.

“Romeo,” Lilith said, out of breath as she reached the door.

He wound the window down and looked at her. “Lilith?”

“You didn’t say hi,” she said.

He smiled, “I was looking for you all but couldn’t find you, so I’m leaving now.”

“Can we talk?” She asked.

He stared at her, then shook his head, “And say what? You and I are over and I’ve realised that if you really wanted to speak to me, you would have contacted me right after I left. Does seeing me really make you want to speak, or are you feeling guilty?”

Lilith wanted to say something, but he wound up the window.

Juliano had his life to live, and he didn’t need old ties holding him down.
