When the boys returned, Halo could tell that something was off. Juliano went to his room while Romeo stayed downstairs to watch t.v.

Closing the door behind him, he looked at Juliano and asked, “How was your visit to grandma?”

He smiled, “It’s weird having another grandma.”

Halo hugged him as he laid down behind him and said, “You’ll get used to it. Mama Amanda is nice.”

“Then why didn’t you come with us?” He asked.

Halo kissed him on the cheek and said, “Because your daddy wanted you to go with and not me.”

“Why?” He asked.

Halo shrugged. “He probably just wanted to spend time with you. There will be many more days like these.”

Juliano looked up at him. “But I want us to be happy together.”

Halo sighed, “Maybe in the future but not now, bub. Your father and I need to work on many things first before we can get together again.”

Juliano sighed and nodded his head. Things went quiet, then he suddenly asked, “When am I going to meet Nylah?”

Halo smirked.

After Romeo choked him, he’s been wanting to get dicked down again by Anthony, but how did he know?

Did he have someone follow him?

Juliano pinched his cheek, asking, “Did I say something wrong?”

Halo shook his head, “No, how about I find out by uncle Anthony? He’ll have to first speak to Nylah and Tonio’s dad to get permission.”

Juliano nodded his head. “I’m hungry.”

Halo tickled him, saying, “You’re always hungry, aren’t you?”

As Halo walked into the kitchen, Romeo was leaning against the island, staring off into space.

Walking up to the fridge, he said, “I’m going to make something for Juliano, so you want?”

Romeo snapped back from his thought, “Sorry?”

“Are you hungry?” Halo repeated.

He nodded his head slowly, then said, “That would be nice.”

Glancing at him just before he walked away, Halo could see that he had something to say.

He got lunch done, then took a plate with cranberry juice to the livingroom and handed it to him.

Romeo looked at the food then as Halo turned around he said, “I won’t stop you if you want to keep seeing Detective Rowan. You can date him if you like.”

Halo was standing frozen with a frown on his face. He had to think of something to say quickly, but what could he say?

He turned to him and saw that he was already eating and asked, “Do I really need your permission to date someone else?”

The fork in his hand paused at his lips. He looked over at Halo without moving his head and Halo could tell that he struck a nerve.

Turning his gaze back, he said, “I will not stay here. I’m leaving Sunday night.”

Halo frowned. He sat down beside him and looked at him, asking, “Why? Why don’t you stay here? Juliano wants you here.”

“And if I stay? Aren’t you afraid he’ll walk in on us trying to kill each other?”

“We’ll work around that Romeo,” Halo quickly said.

Romeo shook his head. “No, it’s for the best. I don’t want to get angry at you anymore, Halo. You and I are over and I didn’t realise that until I spoke with my mother. I can’t keep controlling you.”

“Don’t do this,” Halo said softly.

He turned to Halo and saw that he had glossy eyes. Forcing a smile, he said, “I love you, Halo, but I fucking hate you too. You meant everything to me and you were so innocent, and that’s what I loved the most about you. You were from a different world that I could escape to, but I fucked up. I ruined your body by sleeping with you and I even went as far as making you kill and do illegal things. Yes, I slept with Niam and all those other girls, too. You made me feel so weak when I was with you, and that is why I did it. I wanted to gain my power back by dominating them, but even though I was the one on top when I was with you, I was never the strong one. You made me weak, Halo, and I don’t want that in my life anymore. I love Juliano, but you? Did you really have to be the one to carry my child?”

Halo’s heart broke like glass. He stood up and strolled away, even forgetting to give Juliano his food.

Halo locked himself up in the granny flat outside and cried into a pillow. The hurt he felt from Romeo’s words was unexplainable—why did things end up like this?

Wasn’t he the one under Romeo’s influence?

Wasn’t he the one who was broken because of his lies and infidelity?

Wasn’t he the one who struggled to raise a child all by himself?

Isn’t he the one that is supposed to leave?

Why was Romeo leaving him when they weren’t together?

Sitting up against the wall, his hands lowered to his stomach.

Opening his eyes, he looked at his stomach and asked, “What am I going to do now? You’re here, but he doesn’t want us.”
