Year 4 Month 9

Its been two weeks since John left and he should be getting back in a couple of days. nothing out of the ordinary has happened in these weeks, in fact its been the opposite, nothing has changed AT ALL!

Ame wakes up first, Ame makes breakfast, Lily and Melia wake up, Lily and Melia eat breakfast, Lily goes to the town tailor shop where she works until lunch, Melia practice's the magic that John showed her, Ame either watches Melia or cleans around the house, Ame makes lunch, Lily comes back to the house, they all eat the food, Lily plays with Melia, Ame gets what they need when they ask, they go to sleep, rinse and repeat. EVERY DAY!!! Like seriously, the only real change has been what food is made of what magic Melia uses. How do they not get board?

'Wait a minute, don't I do the same things every day? Do I even do anything ever? I just watch what other people everyday.' I contemplate.

Ding!

'status'

'Ok so just some good upgrades to some skills, that nice' I think slightly uninterested in it once I read it.

'I feel like I need more to do, more skills to work on or classes to level. System, explain race, skills, and classes to me, make this a info dump chapter'

Ding!

A race is the type of creature you are. This will determine your appearance, racial skills, and lifespan. Someone's race can be changed through specific thing like magic or curses, or they can be upgraded by fulfilling specific hidden requirements which will make your race an ‘Evolved race’, this will be passed down to your offspring and will overpower the genes of non-evolved members of the same race. Race levels can never pass level 50.

Skills are classified into 4 different types, Racial, Class, Custom, and Unique.

Racial skills are skills given to all members of that race once they reach a specific age. these skills cannot be leveled other than by age but can be upgraded by outside forces, but afterwards will lose their place in the racial skills section and won't level with age.

Class skills are skills that are a part of a classes skill list, you learn them by getting to specific levels in a class or by learning them yourself and can be leveled through practice and experimentation with the skill. Class skills can by leveled a maximum of level 20

Custom Skills are skills gained from doing specific actions and cannot be leveled.

Unique Skills are skills that you are the first user of and you get to name. Unique skills cannot be taken or changed by others.

A class is a way of life, a path of understanding, and a part of you that ranges from knight to mage to priest, all requiring different things to level up. Classes can be merged when someone has the same level in both classes by asking the system, they are stronger but harder to level, merging is how someone gains the [paladin] or [arcane archer] classes.

Class leveling methods depend on the class, for example, a knight will need to store aura into their bodies and minds, a mage needs to learn a different spell and expand their knowledge into the arcane, or a priest will need to deepen their faith in their being of worship.

Classes can only have a maximum of 100 levels in it with merged classes having a maximum of 130 levels

'How many classes can I have?' I ask after I finish  reading.

Ding!

'There is no limit'

'Hmm so based on what i just read, I can get new skills through just trying things' I think while starting my first experiment.

I start pumping aura into my roots as I send them so grab all the individual aura stones veins in the ground and I Bring them all to a single massive clump of it 'I should have done this a long time ago' I think.

After about a day of doing this I see that John has come back, I listen to what he is saying to Lily as I keep doing what I'm doing.

"there were way more people trying to get into the academy than I thought, I thought there would be somewhere between 500 to 1000 kids trying to be a knight but there were closer to 2500 trying out." John says after Lily asked him how the trip went.

"But he got in, right?" Lily asks even though the fact that Leo was not here was the answer in itself.

"Yeah he got in all right." john says with a big laugh.

"He was stronger than everyone else there! The people testing everyone had to get a analyzing crystal to confirm that he was only 5" John says proudly, which makes sense because Leo looks 8 or 9.

"That's wonderful!" Lily exclaims with a bright smile.

"A lot of kids there had sword training before hand but Leo still got into the top 30 of people who got excepted" John says looking even more proud.

'That great, good for him' I think and go back to managing my roots once they switch back to more basic and boring topics.

Ding!

You have gained a new skill, [Item Enhancement]

'System what does it do?'

Ding!

[Item Enhancement]: By coating an item in aura you have Increased its durability and mass.

-The item will not sustain damage until the user runs out of aura.

You are reading story Just an Old Tree at novel35.com

-Increases the mass behind every blow by 10% per level without increasing the weight of the item.

'This would be great if I ever need to fight anybody but not very useful when my roots instantly regenerate anyway' I think.

'If I can do this with aura than what could I do with mana?' I wonder.

I move my vision to where Melia is training right now and I try and see what is going on when she uses a spell. I look for a while but nothing is popping out to me, to me she is just saying some random words and then something happens.

'Why cant I see anything? Is there a skill I need?' I ponder for a while and come to the conclusion that I need to be able to see more, I decide to try and upgrade my [True Sight] skill.

'System, use [Infusion] on [True Sight]'

Ding!

Infusing aura into [True Sight] will take 1 week, Proceed?

'Yes' I say after thinking for a minute if this was worth it for missing a week of absorbing aura to power my crystal but I come to the conclusion that it would be worth it if I could gain mama as something else to use.

I use [Wait] for a week so its faster.

Ding!

Your skill [True Sight] has been upgraded to [Aura Vision]

'What does it do?' I ask the system.

Ding

[Aura Vision]: You can see the auras of living things

-You have the vision of a normal human.

-This lets you see things that are invisible or hiding where you would normally not be able to see

'Although this is not what I wanted its still great' I think.

'Lets try this again' I sigh

Infusing aura into [Aura Vision] will take 3 months, Proceed?

'Yes'

[Wait]

Ding!

Your skill [Aura Vision] has been upgraded to [Eyes of the Sword Saint]

'What does it do?'

[Eyes of the Sword Saint]: A skill made by Alryn, the first sword saint to alleviate the symptoms of her blindness.

-The user can see the aura.

-The user can see mana.

-The user can see the intent and emotions of others.

'Gods that's strong!' I think in amassment.

'How much aura did that cost?'

I noticed during the proses of upgrading skills, aura stone gets eaten away at really fast, like 3 or 4 smaller stones fast. So I wanted to know just how much such a great skill would cost.

I look down to where the big clump of aura stones was and what I saw made me freeze. Almost 80% of the stones were gone.

'WHAT?! WHY SO MUCH??' I would have expected 20 or 30% easy but 80 is WAY too much. I quickly feel a calming mist.

'This better be worth it' I think in frustration after the shock wears off.

I activate the ability and just stare. In front of me is a whole new world. I look in front of me and see multi-colored lights float around me, they move in circles around me as if playing a game. I watch them in wonder before all of the brown lights suddenly stop, then they moved faster than they were when playing, all the brown lights shoot towards the house at insane speeds. I move my view to where they are going and when I find them they are all crowding around Melia as she is using a spell I think is called 'Earth bullet'.

'Hmm so these lights are mana then? I guess the colors mean what type of mana they are.' I quickly conclude.

'I wonder if I can command mana like I do with aura?' I wonder.

I move my view back to my main body and try and will the mana into a small flower near me. I realized that during my test a while ago, it was stupid of my to try this stuff on myself immediately when I could have don't some serious damage if things went wrong. I see the mana not doing anything after my command.

I think for a big and conclude that because aura is different than mana it would need a different method to move. I try to guide it instead of force it but it seems to not like this just as much. I then try and request it to go into the flower, once I ask the mana to do it, something happens. The green lights slowly move as if hesitant to listen, I put the request out there again and they start moving a little faster to the flower but the other mana is still doing nothing, I sent out the request to the green mana specifically this time and put a feeling of safety and then they moved even faster until they hit the flower and then they merge with the flower as if this was how it was supposed to be from the start, as if they belonged together. I flower started to lightly glow and then dimed back to normal but it looked different now, the flower was dyeing before I moved the mana into it because it was the start of fall but now it looked like it was in the peak of spring which was strange but I guess that would be normal for mana to do.

Ding!

You have enacted your will on to mana and it has listened, you gained the skill [Speak With Mana].

Ding!

You have convinced mana spirits (Nature) to safely stay in a flower (Orchid) this will encourage other mana spirits to do the same.

'Ohh? So I guess that the lights are mana spirits but I wonder if I do this more will there be a patch of spring in the dead of winter? Wouldn't Lily like that a lot?' I think for a bit then decide that it would be for Lily to have a nice space to be outside even during winter because she loves to be outside which was evident because she comes every other day to just site out here with Melia.

I start requesting more of the spirits to take up residence in the plants around me. The green lights which I think are nature spirits love the flowers around me, the brown ones like the ground itself which supports my idea that they are earth spirits, the fire and wind spirits like to just stay in the air and it makes the area worm-up with a light breeze even though summer is over, the water spirits go to the grass, and finally the spirits that look like death mana grow big mushrooms. The area looks like the prefect scenery.
