I just didn't get what was going on, and this was all starting to put a sour taste in my mouth, but I held myself together. I also remembered that Fiona was also being forced into this, so she probably didn't want this but was doing this out of loyalty to her Queen.

"Do you mind if I get cleaned up first? I came from training before this, and I don't think I will make a good impression," I said as the two of us walked along one of the outer corridors that were more open, and I could see the town that was far below.

Fiona stopped and turned to me with a puzzled expression on her face before she started giggling hysterically. "Oh, I'm sorry! It didn't even occur to me that you might want to change first," she said while wiping the tears of laughter from her eyes.

I just stared at her in confusion because I didn't understand what was so funny about wanting to clean myself up before going out on a date. Still, Fiona just continued laughing as if I had said something hilarious.

"Come on then, let's get you cleaned up!" Fiona said while still giggling and took my hand in hers once again before leading me down another corridor towards what I assumed were the living quarters.

We walked in silence for a few moments until we finally arrived at my door, and Fiona released my hand reluctantly as if she didn't want to let go. "Um, do you mind if I come in?" she asked shyly while slightly averting her gaze from mine.

I was taken aback by the sudden change in demeanor because, up until this point, Fiona had been nothing but confident and sure of herself, so it was strange seeing her acting like this now.

"Yeah, sure," I replied after a moment's hesitation because there was something about how she looked at me that made my heart beat faster for some inexplicable reason.

Fiona came into the room with me, and then guided me to the bathroom, and then waited.

I turned to her with a raised eyebrow, but she just raised one back at me, making me feel silly.

"Are you going to shower with your clothing on?" Fiona finally asked, and I sighed. Just act normal, and get undressed, Azriel; this is nothing more than your maid here to help her master.

I stripped down, turned on the tap for the shower, and got in without letting it warm up. I needed the cold to snap me out of this slump I was in, but the warm water was not far behind. I let out a sigh of contentment and closed my eyes.

Since coming to this new world, and training, this had been the best part of each of my days because it signified the end of that day. It always meant that sleep wasn't far away, but today was different. I still didn't know if that was a good thing, but that was only one part of the day, not the entire thing.

*Fwww* The sound of the shower curtain didn't surprise me, but what happened next did as I felt a body with soft and warm skin brush past me to get into the shower with me. All I wanted to do was open my eyes, but I was in a state of overwhelming confusion, so I just kept them closed as the stream of water that hit me was almost completely cut off.

"Fiona?" I asked, but there was no response. "F- Fiona, is that you?"

I turned around and found myself staring into a pair of blue eyes that looked almost exactly like Melodious's own. The only difference was the color because Fiona's were light blue while Melodious's were darker. There wasn't much time to think about it as I felt soft and wet lips touch mine in a slow and sensual manner.

The next thing I knew, we were both naked, and my hands were moving over her slim body without me even thinking about it as she moaned softly in pleasure while pressing her own body against mine eagerly.

"Yes, it is me," she finally replied breathlessly between kisses.

My brain was on fire, and there wasn't enough water in the ocean to put it out right now, so I just let it burn as the water soaked our hair and bodies. I wanted to know the why, but Fiona's lips were so soft that my mind kept getting pulled back to that feeling and losing anything else that I tried to think about.

"Why?" I finally managed to ask as my mouth moved down to her neck, and she gasped softly as my teeth grazed over her sensitive skin.

"I wanted to see what all the fuss was about," Fiona replied with a moan as she tilted her head back to give me better access. "And now I know."

Her words were like a bucket of ice water being thrown over me, and they effectively killed any desire that I had been feeling moments before. I pushed her away from me abruptly before taking a few steps back while staring at her in disbelief as the reality of what just happened hit me like a ton of bricks.

"You wanted to see what all the fuss was about?" I repeated slowly while shaking my head in disbelief. "So, you just decided to use me as some kind of test subject?"

Fiona looked away from me sheepishly while biting her bottom lip nervously, and I could tell that she knew precisely how wrong what she had just done was. However, instead of feeling angry or upset, I only felt pity for her because it was clear that she had been hurt badly by someone in the past who had taken advantage of her.

"Look, Fiona, I'm not mad at you," I said quietly while taking a step closer to her and reaching out to touch her arm gently in a reassuring manner. "But you need to be careful with your heart because it's very fragile."

Tears welled up in Fiona's eyes before spilling over and running down her cheeks silently as she nodded her head vigorously in agreement before throwing herself into my arms and hugging me tightly.

I hugged Fiona back just as tightly before resting my chin on top of her head and closing my eyes while thinking about how easily things could have gone wrong if I hadn't figured out what was going on in time. I had been very close to just asking her to leave, but I was only seeing things from my own perspective and not hers.

"Thank you, Azriel," Fiona whispered softly while still hugging me tightly, and I nodded my head in understanding before pulling away slightly so that I could look down into her eyes.

"Just promise me that you'll be careful from now on, alright?" I said seriously while cupping her face in my hands gently and wiping away the tears with my thumbs.

Fiona nodded her head vigorously before leaning up and pressing a soft kiss to my lips sweetly as if to seal the promise that she had just made. The water fell down around us, and I pulled her into my chest, but now I had some questions that I had not asked before.

"Why were you so excited to take me into town? After we kissed, you seemed relieved that I might find another companion instead of you. Am I right, or was I reading too much into the situation?" I asked, and Fiona was quiet for a moment before speaking.

"I am scared. I really don't think you know what you are going to be asked to do. You have only been fighting with Lord Lachlan for the past while, but the creatures that you will be facing are terrifying, and they hide in dark and scary places. I am sure that you think that I am a coward, but I was excited that I might find someone else to become your weapon, but I... I still have liked you since the first time you appeared. You aren't like the others, and you actually care about people. I also think that it will extend to more than just people, but I was conflicted about how I should act. I thought that it might be good to be mean to you and just drive you away, but when you spoke just now, your words ripped through me, and I don't want to lose the chance to be held in your arms," Fiona explained, and this time it was my turn to be silent.

"I understand what you are saying, and I think that you are braver than you give yourself credit for. It is okay to be scared, but that doesn't mean that you have to give up on your dreams," I said before kissing her forehead gently.

"Thank you," Fiona replied softly while smiling up at me, and I couldn't help but smile back because even though we had just met, I already cared deeply for this woman.
