Once we got out of the shower, the two of us dressed and then sat on the bed. We had the moment in the shower, but now I had some questions.

"So, what do we do then? I need a weapon, but I am not going to force you to do something you don't want to," I said, and Fiona leaned into me.

"The only way is to find another woman that will take my place while you are hunting. Melodious isn't going to be happy about this, but she already gave me permission to share you, so I will take you down into town, and we will try to find someone that you can make a contract with. My main concern is helping those that cannot help themselves, and that is what you will do," Fiona explained, and I nodded.

I didn't want to force anyone into this, but Fiona was right. I needed someone to help me with this, and the sooner, the better, so we could get started taking down these monsters.

"Alright, let's go then," I said as I stood up and held my hand out to her, which she took eagerly before pulling me towards the door.

The two of us left the castle and walked down into town, hand in hand like a couple in love, and even though we had just met, I already knew that Fiona was special to me. She might have been scared of what was to come, but she was still here by my side without hesitation or complaint because she wanted to protect those who couldn't protect themselves.

I could see a fire burning in her eyes, and I knew that she would make an excellent companion.

"So, I mean, not that I don't like this, but don't you think holding hands like this will be counterproductive? I am trying to find another woman to fall in love with me, right?" I asked, but Fiona shook her head with a smile.

"No, I don't think so. You see, when a woman sees another woman by your side, that is obviously happy and in love with you, it will make them want to be in your life as well. They will see what they are missing out on, and it will draw them to you," Fiona explained, and I thought about it for a moment before nodding my head in understanding.

"I see. So we are using reverse psychology?" I asked, and Fiona nodded her head with a smile before stopping abruptly and pulling me into an alleyway between two buildings.

"What is it?" I asked in confusion as she released my hand suddenly and started looking around wildly as if she was expecting something to happen any second now.

Fiona put a finger to her lips, signaling for me to be quiet before taking hold of my hand once again tightly while darting out of the alleyway like someone was after us.

We weaved our way through the streets quickly until we arrived at what looked like some kind of abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town near the forest's edge. It looked eerily dark inside even though it was still early afternoon outside, but Fiona didn't seem deterred as she pulled me towards one of the large doors that were already slightly open.

A strange air about the place immediately put me on edge. Lord Lachlan had told me about Hunter's uncanny sense to detect the supernatural, and I was sure that was what this feeling was.

"Fiona, are you sure you want to come here? You were the one that told me about being scared of places like this, right?" I asked as my eyes darted everywhere, feeling naked without something for a weapon, but Fiona didn't seem worried.

"There is someone I want you to meet before I introduce you to normal women. Call it another test," Fiona said as she continued forward, but I stopped as something just zipped past the corner of my vision.

I turned to look at it, but there was nothing there now. Fiona looked back at me with a confused expression on her face before shrugging her shoulders and continuing into the darkness of the warehouse without hesitation, as if she couldn't sense the dangerous atmosphere that I could.

I nervously followed after her while keeping my eyes peeled for any more movement in the darkness, but we seemed to be alone inside currently. As we walked further in, I saw faint lights in what looked like small alcoves. They were set up along both sides of a long hallway which eventually opened up into some kind of large room with tables and chairs set around haphazardly as if they had been abandoned quickly.

"Hello?" Fiona called out loudly while releasing my hand suddenly so that she could walk towards one of these tables before sitting gingerly on top of it while looking around curiously as if this was all normal to her.

Then it appeared, a dark figure that seemed to be made entirely out of shadows. It was taller than me by at least a head, and its red eyes glowed eerily in the darkness as it stared at Fiona, who didn't seem to notice its presence.

"Fiona," I whispered urgently while trying to get her attention, but she just continued looking around as if she couldn't hear me.

"Where is he?" The deep and raspy voice of the shadow creature spoke, and Fiona finally turned to look at it with wide eyes before immediately jumping off the table and hiding protectively behind me.

"W- who are you?" Fiona asked in a trembling voice while clinging to my back like a small child. This must not be who she had meant to call, but this was, without a doubt, a Shade.

"What are you doing here, Creature of the Night?" I asked with unwavering confidence as the sudden understanding of the situation we were in hit me.

"I was called here. Someone asked for my help," the Shade replied with a hiss, and Fiona shivered against my back before peeking her head out slightly to look at it.

"Oh, right! I forgot that you didn't know!" Fiona said with a slight giggle as she stepped out from behind me before walking over to the Shade casually as if there wasn't anything wrong with the current situation we were in.

The Shade's red eyes followed her movement warily before shifting its focus to me questioningly as if asking what I thought about all of this, and I just shrugged my shoulders in response because, frankly, I had no idea what was going on right now.

Fiona stopped next to the shadow creature before turning back to look at me with a smile on her face while rubbing its arm affectionately like one would a pet. "Azriel, this is Shadowfax; he is going to help us!"

I was trying not to freak out right now, but the fact that Fiona was treating this thing like it was her friend just made it all the more difficult. I didn't want to anger it by showing my fear, though, so instead, I just tried to act as casually as possible about the whole situation.

"That's great! So what do we need his help with?" I asked while trying not to let my voice waver, and Fiona giggled before turning back to look at Shadowfax adoringly.

"We need your help in finding a new weapon for Azriel," Fiona explained while still petting him gently like he was a loyal dog and Shadowfax looked at me curiously for a moment before nodding its head in understanding.

"While I do not wish to be hunted, I can understand the need for such a thing. Why would you come to me?" Shadowfax asked, and Fiona looked up at me.

"Because he is here talking to you like you are a normal person and not running away. Azriel was summoned by Melodious to become her partner, but he does not have the understanding of how this world works," Fiona explained, and the Shade flew over to me and started to circle me.

"This human was summoned by her? Does he know what she is yet?" Shadowfax asked, looking back at Fiona, but I spoke up.

"I know that she isn't human, but I don't get the same feeling from her as I do from you. Regardless of what she is, I am connected to her, and I will protect her if the need arises," I said, not needing to add confidence to my words for this statement because I fully believed it.

"Interesting! Well, if that is the case, then we should find him one of the cuter ones first, but that means leaving the town. I don't know if that is wise from what I have heard from the Spirits. There is an Infernal in the area, and it is not safe. That is something that could use a hunter, but without a weapon, you would be burnt to a crisp," Shadowfax said, looking back at me.

Infernals were powerful demons that were composed of fire, and they were often used as assassins because they could teleport anywhere that there was a source of heat. It sounded like we might have our first job already if this one was in the area.

"Alright, well, who or what is out there that you both want me to meet?" I asked. "If I go alone, I might be able to form the contract if I can seek to where ever the person is."

"There is a group of people that have been pushed to the edge of extinction by the Infernal. They are called the Wisp, and they live in an area where it is always cold to the north so that they can avoid being seen or found," Fiona explained, and I thought about it for a moment, but then she spoke again. "I don't think you should do this. I was hoping that there would be someone hiding in town, but..."

"Wait! There is one, but I just didn't think that Melty would be a good starter! You know, she just isn't what a human might find attractive," Shadowfax suggested, and I frowned.

"What kind of supernatural creature is she?" I asked, now getting curious.

"She is called a Naiad, and they are... Well, they aren't what you would expect," Fiona said with a sigh, and I frowned.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked curiously now while crossing my arms over my chest.

"They are water creatures that lure sailors to their deaths so that they can feed on them. They have the ability to transform their appearance into anyone that they want, but in their natural form... well, let's just say you wouldn't want to see it," Fiona explained, and I frowned because she sounded perfect to me.

"I see, but I don't mind. If this is what you both want, then let's go find her," I said with a smile before holding my hand out to Fiona, who smiled and took it eagerly before we started to walk back out of the warehouse with Shadowfax heading off ahead of us and disappearing into a shadow.

"Thank you for doing this! I was getting worried that we weren't going to be able to find anyone!" Fiona said with a sigh of relief as we stepped out into the sunlight once again, and I just smiled down at her.

"Don't worry about it! Everything is going to work out just fine; you'll see," I said confidently while giving her hand a reassuring squeeze before leading the way toward the edge of town where Melty would supposedly be waiting for us.
