Chapter 17: Chapter 16 – New Day with Little Change

A detective was sitting at a desk, it had a small name plate on it held up by buzzsaws. It said

“Detective Shaw”

Shaw looked at a laptop on his desk, it was pictures from the crime scene that his friend Bobby took. Thankfully the entire incident was resolved with some mind control and some contacts. Shaw breathed in as he watched the crime scene slowly from an inside camera that miraculously wasn’t destroyed, the footage was quickly taken by Shaw in order to study and to hide from the public. Shaw was drinking a fast food drink as he watched the tape over and over again trying to truly understand the entire situation.

The replay was quick as a small flame entered the store before a large inferno instantly broke out , the fire alarm blared and alerted a nearby hero but not before the monster killed the few sleepy people at the front , quickly a hero arrived in casual wear while in a tuxedo. The hero seemed to have his face blocked from the camera somehow. The fight began, the villain shot a beam of fire that was blocked with a stone wall, Detective then assumed the hero was a stone type hero as he transformed the wall into a boulder and slowly rolled it towards the villain. The boulder slowly shrunk before expanding, covering the shop but that didn’t matter as the fire villain shot a fire beam through the boulder. The hero tried making another wall of stone to block but after collision the boulder burst and the fire villain realized the situation and shrunk his beem into a needle before sending all his force trough, it pierced the wall and cut the heroes face, sadly his face was still invisible but blood did drop , the hero touched his face as if trying to heal it but the fire villain jumped in with flaming claws. The hero touched the glass window and surrounded it in rock as a defense but that didn’t matter as the villain broke through and cut the hero's face.

 

After this the two fight outside with the fire villain standing on top of the steps only for what seems like a finale as the fire hero laughed and walked back inside only for a large hand of water to smash the building into pieces. Shaw assumed it was another hero that was S-rank. The building then collapsed and the camera only picked up a picture of ground until it was picked up by Shaw himself.

The detective sighed as he grabbed a pocket watch and started counting the seconds in the video but no good information was gained. Detective Shaw decided that the hero could just be a powerful vigilante which was illegal since the government couldn’t truly gauge your power. It didn't matter as Shaw was more interested in the villain who somehow survived the fist due to him not being in the crime scene. Shaw stood up and called up Bobby. It took just one ring for Bobby to pick up , Shaw and Bobby had been friends before they even gained powers with Bobby becoming a police officer to help Shaw and they rose up the ranks together till they became the two most influential people in the city. Bobby said

“Hey Shaw what is up?”

Shaw replied with 

 

“I am gonna find this fire villain before he becomes a threat and I want your help with it”

Bobby instantly replied with a gleeful

“Sure , I’ll start going on mass surveillance for any new fire villains”

Shaw smiled and said

“Thanks , and secondly, want to go Ice cream later?”

Bobby instantly replied with

“The usual place?”

Shaw chuckled as he said

“See you there”

 

Shaw got up from his laptop and said to himself

“I’ll find you soon you annoying FireBall”

 

Shaw left the building and went to a nearby ice cream place on foot but when he arrived Bobby was leaving the store with a strawberry and chocolate ice cream in his hand. Bobby handed Shaw the chocolate cone without hesitation and they leaned on the wall to eat while looking at the beautiful sun

Thunderous Legs was training after the terrible fight with the fire monster that had burnt his legs and caused major internal injuries. Thunderous was now running around the streets using his power as an exercise, he passed by many events like small muggings to robberies or just two guys eating ice cream. Eventually Thunderous Legs had run around the entire city in just a few minutes. Thunderous sighed as he grabbed a towel and dabbed his head. Thunderous then walked towards a nearby hospital. He entered and was immediately asked by a guard for his name and reason for visit

 

“I’m Michigan Tesla, I am here to visit the heroes Aqua Man and Druid”

The guard backed away and let him inside but followed him to the room. It was commonplace for hospitals to employ retired heroes as protection from villain attacks and assassinations.

 

Michigan entered the room to see a sad sight, the two heroes who heroically fought off the fire monster were on hospital beds barely able to stay awake due to all the blood wounds. The only hero who seemed fine was beside the druid's bed reading a small book. It was a retired hero called physical ghost or his real name William Mal. Michigan said

 

“How are the two of them doing?”

William sighed as he closed his book, he said

 

“Aqua can now speak and Druid can stay awake for around two hours a day”

Michigan sighed and said

“What did the doctors say?”

 

William sighed again and said

 

“Serious wounds internal and external and a temporary paralysis over their whole bodies with one having no lower jaw. The good news is that since they are both heroes, they may recover soon.”

 

William then added

 

“Your friend here is impressive, fighting a monster like that is no easy feat especially for a C-rank even if they were straining their power to its limit.”

 

Michigan smiled before asking a simple question to William.

“Can you spar with me?”

 

William then quickly got up and cracked his back and said

“I haven’t been out in a while so why not, come with me I have a perfect place”

 

In a small walk William led Michigan to the edge of town. They stood on a beautiful hill overlooking the city. William then said

 

“This is where I trained myself and I can confirm that it is still rare to see people here even after these thirty or so years.”

 

William then sighed before taking off his jacket, underneath was a completely black tank top. It was the first time Michigan had seen him take it off and it scared him. Williams left hand looked like a normal arm with a little muscle aside from it being completely white but his right arm was rippling with muscle and was comparable to a world record holding body lifters. Michigan swallowed as he put on some boots specially designed for speed making it more resistant and lighter than most other shoes. Michigan then asked

 

“When do you want to start”

 

William replied by lowering his stance and saying

“Whenever you move”

 

Michigan breathed in, lightning covered his legs. He was no longer Michigan, he was Thunderous Legs. Michigan got to a world record looking running position before yelling

“START”

 

Lightning quickly dashed behind William who seemed to be in a boxing stance, Lightning did a quick kick only for William’s left hand to go through his chest and enlarge into a wall. Quickly William smacked Lightning out of the air before turning around and dashing towards Thunderous, Thunderous responded by kicking the ground as hard as he could, causing a small shock wave that flipped Thunderous back into a standing position. Thunderous saw the still rapidly approaching William but noticed he had his arms behind his back. Suddenly a large and grabbed Thunderous and pulled him waste deep into the ground. Instantly Thunderous knew it was over as William pulled his left arm back into a large fist the size of a building right before standing in front of Thunderous. Thunderous closed his eyes expecting the worst only for a single strong punch to his cheek to open them, Thunderous opened his eyes to see William shrinking his arm as he offered his hand to Thunderous. Thunderous accepted and was pulled out of the dirt as well. William then said 

 

“You have a good offensive but you need to start reacting faster or else that speed is useless.”

 

Thunderous rubbed his cheek as he said

 

“Again”

 

This time Thunderous jumped into the air and started kicking the air with his legs sending out lightning bolts at William who quickly expanded his arm to block. William then surprisingly pulled his arm back and shrunk it so that the eye couldn’t see it. William then suddenly had his white arm underneath him and expanded at an insane rate that launched William into the air of the Thunderous who was barely flying by shooting lightning onto the ground to stay in the air. Thunderous couldn’t dodge the punch as William used his normal right arm and smacked him to the ground.

 

William used his left arm to slow his decent as he said 

 

“Your power helps your speed so stay on the ground and use it”

 

William then picked Thunderous up and said

“Again, we will start when you move”

 

Thunderous got up and shook off his clothes and stomped his shoes causing lightning to cover his waist down as he breathed in and he dashed around in circles around William as he made the ground burn as he ran. Thunderous then caused his lightning to spread out and surround William, William smiled as he extended his arm to try blocking Thunderous, Thunderous then quickly lowered his running position as he quickly dashed around the hand. William then did a new move by enlargeding only one of his fingers to smack Thunderous to the ground. William then moved his arm to grab his legs as he approached and said

 

“You are learning but you aren’t able to adapt”

 

Thunderous got up and coughed a little blood only to get up and started running directly towards William only for his white arm to try swiping Thunderous , Thunderous reacted by sliding under the arm. William smiled as he tried retracting the arm to smack thunderous from behind. Thunderous jumped above the arm and launched a lightning bolt at William, William then bit his teeth as he took the bolt head on before raising his arm and trying to hit the jumping Thunderous. Thunderous curled his legs up and tried smashing the arm, William realizing the danger seamlessly turned his hand intangible as he avoided the lightning legs. Thunderous smiled as he was less than a foot away from William as Thunderous did a powerful kick to try hitting Williams head but Williams normal arm suddenly punched Thunderous in the thigh. Thunderous winced as he retracted his leg to try with his other leg and tried kicking again but was unsuccessful as William quickly used his white left arm and swept Thunderous off his legs and bent down to punch. He stopped short and said

 

“Good improvement but you need to adapt better. Remember if attempt one failed attempt number two will probably also fail as well.”

 

Thunderous got up and electrified his legs again before running at William again. William went into a boxing pose before seemingly hitting the air with his left hand before it suddenly shot out like a bullet. Thunderous reacted by quickly dodging the hand and trying to grab it only for his hand to pass through. Thunderous shook his head as he remembered that William’s arm is more like an object than an arm. Thunderous then quickly kicked the ground to dash at William and kicked at William's head only for William to respond by punching Thunderous’ leg, Thunderous winced before pulling his leg back. William seemed disappointed only for Thunderous to respond by expanding his lightning to block out Willaim's vision before quickly pulling his leg back. William reacted by expanding his white arm to make a wall but it was too late as Thunderous tried to punch William in the cheek with his left arm. William quickly responded by making his thumb enlarge enough to protect his head. William after blocking made his arm intangible and punched through his arm and uppercutted Thunderous knocking him on his back. William said

 

“You are improving at a quick rate but I won’t let you leave till you can beat me”

 

Over the next hours Thunderous will try again and again to even touch William. At the end Thunderous had bruises all over but William was completely fine. William said

 

“You are improving at a quick rate but you still have no chance against A-rank heroes because I’m retired and you still couldn’t touch me.”

 

William picked Thunderous up and said

“Now let's go get you fixed up by the hospital”

Far away was Thomas who was currently invisible inside a villain's home. He was waiting for a famous A-rank villain called The Librarian. He had a special power that he can use in power in a book he is currently reading but he can’t read the same book twice, he is considered an unpredictable menace to even S-rank and have on multiple occasions killed “S-” heroes. Thomas was invisible on the couch as he started rolling a small dice on the table only for the door to slam open as his target angrily sat down on the couch, he said

 

“My boss has no idea how hard my job is but I can’t quit because… AGH”

 

Thomas stood up before quickly punching Librarian in the face, The Librarian jumped off the couch and instantly made a book magically appear in his hand and magically made the furniture float and fly around the room, Thomas used the air and condensed a wall of protection, he blocked some items like chairs and forks but that was enough for the Librarian to know his location. Suddenly the items flying around the room dashed toward Thomas, Thomas released his invisibility so he could put less strain on his power as he made a wall of wood from the ground, the wood quickly was smashed causing wood chippings to litter the ground. The Librarian used his power to lift up the chippings and launch them towards Thomas. Thomas responded by making air condense around him into an armor. Thomas blocked the splinters and responded by making the wooden planks to float in the air before flying towards The Librarian like javelins. The Librarian used his power to completely stop the planks. Thomas continued trying to push the planks to start attacking The Librarian. It was an uncommon occurrence for two supers with similar enough powers to cancel eachother out clash but when they do it is all about pure strength. Thomas then smiled before pushing his power and causing the floor board right under The Librarian to rise and smash his chin. Thomas sighed as The Librarian dropped his book before taking out another book and raising his arm into the air. Thomas was confused at first and went to try striking The Librarian with the floating planks only for a large gust to send him into the wall. Thomas coughed up blood before quickly reading the title of the book

 

“How the flow of air has shaped life”

 

Thomas quickly tried to form the air around him into armor but struggled as The Librarian bent over and picked up a broken piece of wood and walked over to smash Thomas’ head in. Thomas quickly used his power to take out books from a shelf and made a wall to stop The Librarian. Quickly The Librarian not caring about the books used his power and blasted them to the wall. Thomas lifted his arms up to defend as The Librarian smashed his stick against Thomas’ arms. Thomas took a few hits to his arms causing scratches and bruises. Thomas breathed in before seemingly flopping his arm to the side with it landing on The Librarian’s shoe. The Librarian sighed as he smiled before raising his wooden plank only for a sudden force to touch his legs. Thomas was still awake and used his power to turn The Librarian’s clothes into a ball of mass before choking The Librarian with them, only leaving boxers. Thomas used all his energy he had left as he shoved a shoe into The Librarian’s mouth before covering his head with his shirt , jacket and finally with his pants. The Librarian fell backwards clawing at the clothes trying to breathe. Thomas shakily stood up before using his power to take the wooden boards from underneath him causing him to fall on his back under the house. Thomas then looked around for something sharp and saw a glass table. Thomas grabbed a plank then smashed the table before using his power causing the glass to act as armor, specifically a glove. Thomas then walked back over the still choking Librarian and punched him in the neck having glass pierce cut The Librarian’s neck causing The Librarian to start choking before seemingly choking. Thomas released his fake glass glove and started whipping off blood from his hand. Thomas sighed and said

 

“This power is no good for fighting”

Far away was Coarla punching a punching bag, before each punch her arm increased or decreased in size causing either small needle like wounds or large cannon like punches. A knock on the door rang out. Coarla yelled

 

“Who is it?”

The voice behind the door said

“The Masked is here and he is waiting outside.”

 

Coarla finished her workout by expanding her leg and cleanly breaking the punching bag in half with a single clean kick. Coarla then wiped her head and walked outside and instantly saw The Masked holding a man with a bag on his head and completely on fire. The Masked said

 

“Here is your gift”

 

The Masked tossed the man in front of Coarla where she took off the hood to see what looked like a burnt husk of a person. Coarla asked

 

“Did you kill it”

 

The Masked chuckled before saying

 

“No, no I found it like that”

 

Coarla sighed before looking closely at the body, Masked said

 

“The reason I brought it to you is that it has your drugs in it’s mouth”

 

Coarla pushed her hand through the body’s fire and opened its mouth forcefully to see instead of teeth her premiere drug called Skotati. Coarla smiled and dug into her jean pocket to grab out a small vial of yellow liquid. The Masked asked

 

“Oh what is that”

 

Coarla fed it to the man before saying

 

“It’s a drug that contrasts with the skotati drug by slowly tearing off the out most layer of the drug but in return causes the effect to be more pronounced and is used for healing drug addicts”

 

Coarla looked at The Masked who was wearing his signature purple mask and unable to tell the emotions beneath it. Coarla then said to a bodyguard behind her

 

“Go send this man to the prison I’ll talk to him after the meeting”

 

Coarla stood up and wiped off her pants and quickly walked towards a limousine with The Masked not far behind. Coarla waited as another bodyguard in all black opened the door for both of them before quickly running to the driver's seat. As soon as they sat in the car The Masked asked

“Coarla your business is drugs right?”

 

Coarla quickly responded with a nod before The Masked asked

 

“Why did you choose drugs of all businesses?”

 

Coarla sighed and said simply

 

“It’s the most addictive substance in the world so it’s good at making products”

 

The Masked kept looking blankly at her with his mask on before saying

 

“I have no idea what I need to do at these global meetings. So I’m just gonna follow you”

 

Coarla quickly nodded as she said

 

“It isn’t much, it's just a small meeting between all of us Prodosia globals and discuss future plans and wants that they don’t think they can do themselves.”

 

The Masked sighed and said

 

“Now I remember why I don’t go to these.”

 

Coarla sighed before taking out what seemed like a basic smarties candy before shoving it in her mouth before suddenly having her left arm become completely covered in water. She said

 

“Each time I fight an interesting hero I have been trying to replicate their power with drugs. One time I fought a global fire hero and won but it took years to understand how to replicate the power and over the time after many experiments I became nearly completely resistant to pain. Now recently I fought a water hero who was quite impressive for a C-rank so I gained a new goal. Make drugs of almost every major power and sell them for the talentless or just use it myself.”

 

The Masked shook his head as if he was impressed before saying

“I am the same as always, I’m just looking for entertainment.”

 

Masked then grabbed Coarla on the shoulder and said

 

“And you feeble attempts to get stronger are hilarious”

 

Coarla being a global would’ve said something but truthfully almost every global who could think rationally were afraid of The Masked, he was somebody that only pursued fun and had no emotions. Most globals all decide to call him a natural disaster instead of an actual villain. Coarla said 

 

“We are almost there”

 

Coarla tried her best to just dismiss the subject as they arrived at what seemed like an old abandoned building only for their limousine to take a sharp right into the doorway and down a staircase. It rattled to the bottom before it landed into a parking garage with three other cars inside of it. Coarla got out of the car with The Masked following closely behind. The parking lot was empty besides the staircase and two doors, one small wooden one and a large steel door. Coarla entered the wooden door to see a small but elegant table with five extravagant chairs around it. There were three people all sitting down differently , the only thing on the table were name plates. The Masked and Coarla sat down in their respective seats before Coarla said

 

“The meeting begins now”

Immediately the villain behind the name plate (Electron / Alexander Thunder ) said

 

“I haven’t seen you at one of these meetings. Masked, how are you?”

 

The Masked didn’t respond leading to Electron sighing and saying

 

“Good talk”

 

Electron then said

“So Muscle Mass-”

 

Coarla immediately stopped him and said

 

“Just call me by my actual name”

 

Electron chuckled before saying

 

“So Coarla why did you call this meeting and even bring The Masked along too”

 

Coarla breathed in and said

 

“Over the past few months I have been thinking of a way to maximize our wealth in a timely manner and the best solution I have come up with is this. 

First the plan itself is to destroy the city inside out leaving all the resources but none of the people. Then with that we can potentially make a villain capital of the world and be the ones in charge of it.”

 

The man behind the name plate (Endless Era / Ben Reloj) looked up to listen better. Coarla continued

 

“Recently I have tried worrying the public by looking like a large monster in public and almost killing another global hero. This obviously will cause the people of this city to start losing trust. Then after a few more events to cause worry we will commence a plan to kill every medical hero in this city. That way every single injury is nearly permanent.”

 

The final person behind the name plate (Broken Soul / Glee Ash) seemed to wake up from a small nap. Coarla continued

 

“With this moral will be down for heroes and civilians alike, which is our moment, we will kill the mayor and commence havoc. We will destroy buildings like elementary schools to prevent more globals from being born before we start destroying the heroes. We will first kill any injured heroes before they can recover and we will also kill S-ranks who are by themselves. With this they have almost no protection against our final attack plan which will be a single assault on the probably rallied together mob of heroes and kill them all with barely any competition from globals anymore”

 

Instantly as soon as she finished Glee said 

 

*I understand the reason but honestly I can't be bothered, I have plans"

 

Coarla the said

 

"I know everyone here are busy people so that is why I am willing to make the compromise, when every person here has achieved their short term goal contact me. When everyone does we will finally be ready for an assault"

 

Ben Reloj then flipped open a pocket watch and said

 

"My Intel has told me about a peculiar girl at the edge of town who has gained a powerful ability. Currently I would Love to meet her"

 

Coarla nodded before looking towards Electron who said

 

"If we are gonna do this plan I want one thing and that is to kill every electric hero and villain. And no , this isn't a vendetta, I just want my electrical company to destroy all competition"

 

Coarla then looked at Glee expectantly before hearing

 

"If we are doing it then I have two conditions , first I will be the ones destroying all the buildings and secondly I want to be able to kill as many villains and heroes as I want in order to cause even more panic."

 

Coarla nodded before looking towards The Masked who said

 

"You don't need to worry about me. All I want is to have some fun before the event"

 

Everyone in the room knew what Masked wanted as they nodded their heads. Finally Coarla then said

 

"Before we start the event I want to synthesize some new drugs and get rid of any nuisances that can trip me up" 

 

Everyone nodded before Glee stood up and said

 

"Good meeting"

 

After this Glee instantly left , it was nearly impossible to keep all five global villains in a single small room so Coarla wasn't surprised. Coarla then stood up and said

 

"Let's go"

 

The Masked then stood up before saying.

 

'I have plans everyone good day"

 

The Masked stood up and quickly walked up the stairs. Coarla sighed in relief as she looked toward the other two remaining globals. She said

 

"So I'm left with the reasonable ones"

 

Ben and Alexander chuckled before saying

 

"There are a few issues with your plan , so let's fix it up real quick."

 

Coarla sat down before spending nearly two hours taking ideas and coming up with plans. When she left the sky was dark and gloomy. Coarla extended her arm to see small burn marks still on her arms as she said

 

"Everything should be set up. A global hero in a hospital and an unknown villain the size of skyscrapers fighting them head on head , it's perfect" 

 

Coarla then stretched her arms as she went into the limousine and said

 

"Bring me home , I want to examine The Masked's gift"
