Sitting in my room I held a book in my hands reading it.

Multiple other books sitting atop my desk awaiting the same treatment.

A month has passed since I became Alastor.

During this time I've been adjusting to it all.

Living a new life in a new world. Getting reacquainted with the people around me. Coming to terms with the fact I am a kid again.

I am eight years old by the way.

It was a lot.

But I've accepted my situation fully.

Now that I have its time to get down to business.

Hence my current situation.

Just because I have become a character from the game Tales of Midgard does not mean this world is exactly like the game.

That's why I am reading all these books in front of me pertaining to history, geography, and the like.

Since I am a firm believer in the saying: Knowledge is power.

The more I have the better it will be for me on the long.

Not to mention I am curious about the things in this world that weren't mentioned in the game or any of its lore in my previous one.

Case in point, my mother Reyna.

In the game she was barely mentioned. Save for a few lines of dialogue here and there.

All I knew about her before ending up here was that despite all his misdeeds Alastor loved his mother dearly.

Now I know that my mother has an extremely frail body.

Doing too much physical activity tires her out quickly.

I've seen over this past month.

Doing so made me feel incredible emotions of sadness at my mothers' condition. Which I know came from the original Alastor personality which is still inside of me. I also felt anger at not being able to help her.

Again, those emotions came from the originals personality.

Turns out Alastor is more complex than I first assumed.

So it's like I said, the more you know.

And there is a lot I need to know.

Finishing the book in my hands I closed it up. Letting the knowledge I just acquired sink in.

Thankfully I can read and write this world's language with no issues.

Score another one for inherited memories from the original Alastor.

I am starting to enjoy the fact I became him. Especially since I can have access to all these books without any issues.

This world's setting is that of Medieval Europe for the most part so books are usually rare. But not for me.

Being born a noble sure has its perks.

Oh I forgot to mention that. Well it's the truth.

I am a noble.

Specifically my family, the Lindwurm family holds the noble rank of Duke and are one of only four families allowed to do so in this country I now call home.

Its name is Eldrian Kingdom.

The setting for the first few parts of the game.

Picking up another book I started reading it and find it quite interesting.

Since it is giving me a brief summary and locations of all the major nations in the world.

Once I started the book I couldn't put it down.

In the world of Midgard, there is only one continent.

It is a supercontinent that goes by the name Lemuria.

Lemuria itself is dominated by nine major countries which are as follows:

First the place I now call my home country, Eldrian Kingdom.

It has a 1500 year long history and is a nation ruled by a royal family, who is supported by an aristocracy of nobles. The country is situated in the West of Lemuria.

Second is Grosso Kingdom.

It is a country that directly borders Eldrian Kingdom to the west. They are situated along the continents western coast and have highly successful and thriving shipping and fishing industries. The Grosso Kingdom was founded during the same time as the Eldrian Kingdom, and just like its neighbor they are ruled by a royal family supported by a host of nobility.

Grosso Kingdom and Eldrian Kingdom have also been allies for generations.

Third is Regulus Imperium.

They are a country situated in the north-west of Lemuria.

Created 2,000 years ago the Regulus Imperium is a militaristic nation who is always seeking to expand their territory. Their government consists of an Emperor chosen from the Imperium's royal family, who is advised and supported by a Senate.

On another note the Regulus Imperium is a human supremacist nation which embraces slavery.

In the world of Midgard there are several races other than humans. Elves, dwarves, and a host of others call this place home as well.

But more about that later. Back to what I was saying.

The Imperium shares a border with both Grosso Kingdom and Eldrian Kingdom. But since both these countries outlawed slavery generations ago and both are open to all races, they do not get along with the Imperium in the slightest.

Which is one of the reasons for the two kingdoms such long-standing alliance.

Alright then.

Next up, we have Ferron Republic.

It is a nation situated in the middle of the Lemuria continent. Boasting a history of 600 years Ferron Republic is not ruled by royalty nor any sort of nobility but is a democratic nation run by a parliament who elects a president every six years. It is also a nation that was founded by merchants. Ferron is also the world's top economic powerhouse. People say that anything you could ever think of could be found there.

Fifth, we have the country of Yggdrasil.

Located in the south of Lemuria it is the oldest nation in the world with a 5,000 year long history. Yggdrasil was also founded by the elven race. The nation also goes by another name.

The country of Magic.

Also, yes. Magic exists in this world.

Moving on.

Sixth, is a country known as Frost Kingdom.

Located in the far north of Lemuria it is a nation with an 800 year history. Dominated by abundant amounts of snow practically year-round it is not a leisurely place to live. Even so the kingdom thrives due to the abundant amount of natural hot springs it possesses that tourist from all over come to try out, and also the abundant amount of natural minerals it collects from the mountains that surround and dominate the countries landscape.

In addition to this Frost Kingdom has some of the most advanced technology in the entire world.

They even have trains.

Seventh is a placed called Sephiroth Theocracy.

Located in the middle of the Lemuria continent the Theocracy is an indecent city-state which is ruled by a Pope. The country has existed for 1100 years. It is also the place that teaches the central religion of this world. The Theocracy is also called the country of Life. Since they possess the best healers in the entire world, and are always striving to advance medical standards through both magical and scientific means.

A far cry from the way the church operated in the middle ages back in my previous world.

These guys actually take no issue with science and embrace it.

Also, considering how the Theocracy has the best medical care in the entire world no one dares to fuck with them.

Eighth is Mountain State Bulwark.

This is a nation located in the north-east of Lemuria. Boasting a 2,000 year history is a nation that was founded and is run by the Dwarven race. It is home to the world's best blacksmiths and forgers. They are ruled by a king.

Finally is the last and ninth nation known as Magatama Empire.

Located in the east of Lemuria, the empire is the youngest nation in the entire world with only a 500 year history. Despite this they are considered a well-respected and feared world power.

This nation was founded by the Beast-kin race.

Which is a race in this world that resembles humans, but they have animal traits such as ears and tails.

Also, Magatama Empire resembles my former home of Japan during the Feudal Era. They are ruled by an Imperial Shogun.

Finishing off the book I closed it and then stretched my arms into the air.

"Looks like the countries in the game all exist in this world." I muttered to myself.

That's good to know.

As I put my arms down I suddenly felt a rumble in my stomach.

Looks like all this reading has made me angry.

Well I can easily fix that.

Getting out of my chair I left my room and headed to the kitchen to find myself something to eat.

Then it is back to the knowledge grind.
